Geaux Construction

Review: I contracted with Keith D[redacted] of Geaux Construction to replace my roof and do additional work on fascia wood, etc. for $14,900. When he got into the job, he advised me verbally that he would need to install new 1/2 inch plywood throughout, for an additional cost of $1,800, bringing the total contract price to $16,700. I verbally authorized him to do this additional work.

The work was not acceptable. After numerous conversations with Mr. D[redacted] during and after installation, it became clear that he was not as knowledgeable about roofing as he represented himself. Therefore, I hired an independent inspector who found that the work performed by Keith D[redacted] of Geaux Construction did not even meet the International Building Code, adopted by Orleans Parish in 2006.

I asked Mr. D[redacted] specifically to protect my landscaping, and cover shrubs. He did neither. Job materials and coolers were placed on my plants. Paving stones on my property were broken by the workers. He maintained a very sloppy jobsite, and I had to hire someone to clean up. There were four trash bags worth of screws, nails, plastic bags and general trash left on my property.

Geaux Construction's business card says Licensed and Insured, but I have come to learn that Geaux Construction's Home Improvement certification is not current, and the commercial license renewal is under review. Mr. D[redacted] was not responsive when I left messages with my concerns.Desired Settlement: I feel that a partial refund is in order. Furthermore, my attempts to contact Mr. D[redacted] have been fruitless, so I have been unable to learn how many "squares" or the number of "bundles" used. I would like to have this information, as it is important information for me to have on file for warranty purposes, per GAF, the manufacturer of the shingles used.

Review: I hired K[redacted] Davis from Geaux Construction, to provide construction services and provide him a $7,000 deposit. After a month of delays and lack of any action. I gave him a termination phone call. After a week he dropped off the keys to my newly purchased home and never returned my calls, texts and has refused to return any communication. I offered him money for his " services" and the return of my money, without any communications.Desired Settlement: My $7,000 refund.

The contract was signed on March 30, 2015. It called for Mr. C[redacted] to supply and pay for plumbing and electrical rough-ins.
