Review: We paid, upfront on 7-1-13, for a bedroom set and dining table, chairs & table pads and pieces of the bedroom set were damaged along with a chunk of wood missing from the leg of a dining room chair, which was resolved by swapping out the chair from the showroom floor model. The bedroom dresser in the first delivery on 9-3-13 had drawers that did not close flush to the frame but the drawers could not be swapped as the drawer frames itself were warped. The dresser mirror was broken in the box on the truck, the bedrails had chunks of wood missing and there were numerous nicks and dings on the furniture. Gelco agreed to replace the damaged pieces and when the second attempt at delivering the bedrails and dresser in mid October, the dresser had a large knot in the top center with a deep depression. The deliverymen had us look at it in the truck before bringing it into the house as it was a very obvious defect. They called the office and were told to return it and for us to keep what we had as another dresser would be sent. The bedrail brackets did not fit into the head and foot board, so we had to keep the original until the next attempt at delivery undamaged furniture, which occurred Nov. 19, 2013. Needless to say, they did not bring bedrails and the dresser had a large chip of wood missing from the front left leg of the dresser along with an uneven or warped dresser top as the mirror did not sit flush on the dresser. It sat flush at both ends but there is a gap through the center. At this time the table pads arrived and they were damaged and returned to Gelco. Even something as simple as a table pad had a tack sticking through it on the side that would sit on the wooden table top. We called Gelco again, and was told, arrogantly, that nothing would make us happy. That was the last communication we've had with them, they have not returned our calls or responded and we still have damaged furniture. We paid Gelco by credit card and by check. Purch'd 4 vac home.Desired Settlement: As it appears, at this point, to get an undamaged bedroom set from Gelco, we ask for a full refund and Gelco can come and pick up their furniture. We no longer trust them to deliver undamaged goods. This is our summer vacation home and we are only there a few months before leaving for FL for the entire winter. We will be back in NJ 4-1-2014

Review: My husband and I ordered furniture on 2/10/13 and was told it would be completed within 10-12 weeks. The furniture was paid in full at the time of ordering. The bottom of the invoice states that the furniture is guaranteed within 99 days of the date of ordering. We are now 40 days past the 99 day deadline and the furniture is still not finished. My husband and I have called the store numerous times. In most cases, the person who answers the phone tells us that they cannot provide an answer as to when the furniture will be completed because they either don't work full time in that store or are only the person who answers the phone. When we do get a hold of someone who knows about the order, they tell us it will be done next week. When we call the following week, we are told next week again. Next week never seems to get here. We are continuously told that someone will call us back, but we never get a call back so we then call the store back ourselves. All of our furniture was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy and this situation is preventing us from re-building our lives.Desired Settlement: We would like our furniture delivered as ordered. As a result of the delay, we would like to receive a discount in the form of a credit to our charge card.

Review: On 8/14/2013,we purchased a table & 2 chairs from Gelco's. The salesman, [redacted], told us that he had everything but the tabletop, but that being that it was regular stock, he would have it in, in no longer than 2 weeks. With that in mind we bought the bought the entire set. Two weeks later the tabletop never came in. We talked to [redacted] & he said he really didn't know when the tabletop would be in & that he should not have promised us that it would be in in 2 weeks. We checked around & found that we could have a tabletop in just a few days. We called [redacted] back & told him. We then asked him if he thought it would be a problem to cancel the tabletop with Gelco & get a full refund on the tabletop. He said "there would be no problem getting a full refund" So we purchased the other tabletop. We called [redacted] to inform him what we had done & we would like a refund of our money that we had paid for the tabletop from Gelco's. He then told us that his boss said they would not do it & we could only get store credit and we really don't need anything else from Gelco's.Desired Settlement: Resolved immediately with full refund of tabletop

Review: On 7/12/14, I ordered a desk, lateral file and bookcase, custom finished. The merchandise delivery time was to be within 90 days. I left a deposit of $823.57. Late August, I called to check on status of order. Furniture was in the building but not painted. Representative informed me they had 90 days which was 10/12/14. On 10/17/14, I called and spoke with the salesperson who took the order. He said he would get back to me once he spoke with the refinisher. On Monday, 10/20/14, I had not heard from him so I visited the store. Two sales representatives found my order but could not give me any information. I told them I would like a refund. They said I had to wait until 10/23/14 because no one was in the office who could help me until then. They informed me the refund would be in the form of a check and could not tell me how long it would take.Desired Settlement: I would like my deposit of $823.57 refunded, plus interest, for the time they have used my money.

Review: January 25, 2014 - purchased bedroom dresser which was to have a custom finish in order to match an existing dresser. Was informed would not be finished until early to mid-April. Was told they did not supply hardware, but they could put on if we gave it to them. Early April, called for update. [redacted] said another two weeks. End of April called back and left a message for [redacted]. He never called back so called again. [redacted] finally called and said another two weeks. Asked about hardware [redacted] said they do not handle hardware and that is the responsibility of the customer. At end of conversation, he said quote “We do not handle hardware and that is the responsibility of the customer…..and frankly I do not like the way it was presented to me. I feel like it was forced upon me.” Our response – simply “What?” He then said, “You know what, I am not going to argue with you about your stupid dresser and I will call you on Monday to let you know the status.” He then hung up the phone and nobody heard from Gelco for 4 weeks. Approx. 4 weeks later Monday, June 9th called back and spoke with [redacted] - she said another two weeks – they have issue with finisher. July 8th [redacted] called us and said another two weeks. Subsequent that that call, called to speak with [redacted]. Was told she was working out of a different store-called that location. They took our name, was put on hold, was then told she was not in the store. They took our name and number and she never called back. Gelco required payment in full up front, and they have our existing dresser drawer which has been missing from our home for six months now. We are demanding that Gelco provide us with a full refund and return our dresser drawer immediately. I think we have been more than patient, and one half of one year to deliver one dresser, while maintaining possession of our property and our money, is not acceptable conduct for any business. I would think any and all regulatory agencies would agree.Desired Settlement: 100% refund and return of our personal property (i.e. dresser drawer)

Review: I ordered a number of furniture pieces from Gelco Furniture on [redacted] New Jersey in September 2013 while refurbishing my shore home loss in Super Storm Sandy. One of the pieces was to be custom completed at our with a hanging bar installedWhen the piece arrived the hanging bar was not included. I went back to the store where my salesperson, [redacted], assured me that the piece was ordered and they would call when the piece arrived. No less than 5 times since September have I been back to the store only to encounter totally rude behavior by the sales staff and every excuse why the parts have not been received.The last encounter met with [redacted] raising his voice to my husband and threatening him that he needed to show him a sample of the part again. When my husband asked if he wanted him to show hi the Piece again, [redacted] began shouting at us and calling my husband a low life and pointing his finger in our faces and continued his threatening gestures. In no way did either me or my husband agitate or exacerbate the situation and the behavior of the two employees was deplorable I telephoned the parent company to ascertain how to make a complaint and was told to email my complaint that no one would speak to me about same. I have emailed as instructed, but hold little hope that my complaint will be resolved.Desired Settlement: I would like to once and for all be provided with the parts due me as well a written apology for the deplorable way we were treated. We are professional people and should certainly have not been treated in the manner displayed by an employee

Review: Purchased desk from Gelco on 1/15/14said it would be delivered in 6 to 8 weeks arrived in 9 weeks paid$2376 for desk on further inspection noticed corner of desk was damaged called Gelco they wanted pictures e mailed pictures said they would rush new desk top would have it in 3 weeks it is now 5 weeks later all I can find out is that it is on a truck from Ca. and they will call as soon as the truck arrrives
