address the correct work. At this time he feels this complaint is just to slander his business without providing any really comment on the work done by the business at the time of the project.

Review: This company was paid in full to complete repairs to my home. They have failed to do so after two years. Completion of the work was continually being pushed back. I was told by the owner of the company that he was continually having problem finding someone to complete the work. I was then told that the business was probably going to close.Desired Settlement: I would just like the repairs to be completed on my home or a refund to be paid so I can have someone else to complete the work.

In regards to Mr. [redacted] inaccurate portrayal. These are the facts of the matter. This contract has not been paid in full and that is accurate and slanderous statement.1. The total agreed upon amount of this contract is $10,490.00.The first payment was made in the amount of $3497.00 second payment of $3497.00 was made the balance due at this point when job is completion is $3497.00 WHICH HAS NOT BEED PAID! And is due at completion if both parties choose to go on at this point.the second payment was due when the demo portion was done that payment because it was insurance company and inspection involved took three weeks before gem builders receive that payment. We’re not consider running take other jobs in that timeframe and the customer is aware of that. The signed an agreed-upon contract by Mr. [redacted] and myself clearly states;in the event property owner fails to make any agreed upon payment, property owner agrees to pay gem builders all attorney’s fees and court costs for collection, above and beyond monies owed.Any agreed upon payment’s not made on time changes completion date to contractor’s choice of completion date unless specified.Mr. [redacted] told me that the water damage had been fixed and all the plumbing was fine. So when we got back to the job from the first delay we got the bathroom tile done and several other items by this time were getting into cold weather in winter and it was time to sheet rock. But there was no heat in the house work this was unknown to me and [redacted] sister had moved in and I bought her portable space heater, but at this point we were not learned drywall and finish without heat on in the house and the clock contract clearly states that temperature would be maintained 68 to 90°, any delays caused by events beyond the control of the contractor shall not constitute abandonment and shall not be included in calculating time frames for payment or performance including rain or weather delays. So now we had to delays one payment not in a timely manner to winter setting. The third delay where water pipes busting all under the house because the plumbing was just jumped I took it upon myself knowing that the homeowner was either unable or did not want to pay the cost of replacing the plumbing as needed again a half a couple hundred dollars in material so that costs to me was $450.00 and another delay in getting this job done. So we did have major delays in getting back again we do not stand around we take all work we get into big jobs in that goes on and on.After getting the house sheet rock 90% painted and ready for flooring we had one more fight bust we cut out the drywall I fixed that pipe and told Mr. [redacted] at that time they really need to get that plumbing fixed in the whole house and I quoted an approximate amount, a week later the pipe to the upstairs hot water heater which was not done apparently the plumber just did one and not the other busted and soaked the ceiling causing pain and drywall damage..I did not hear anything from Mr. [redacted] for months till he called and said got the plumbing fixed, it took him a while to get the money together. At that point I told him I was on a big addition 60 miles away from Richmond and we get there soon as possible. Time went by have not kept track we stay busy and have hundreds of satisfied customers. Mr. [redacted] called and said he would find somebody else to do it to bring the key back have not heard a word until this complaint he didn’t have the decency to pick up the phone and asked me to put back on the schedule as soon as possible. With these delays not my fault I’m not dropping what I’m doing the finishes project we’ve done extra work, no charge work, a new sink no charge, a new toilet no charge. So at this point the balance still is $3497.00 with about $1500 worth of work and material left to do on project. I was therefore go the difference of $1997 or thereabouts if Mr. [redacted] had headed finished so now at this point I would need money up front to repair the water damage from the third plumbing pipe leak in agreement on time frames and payment schedule.I look forward to Mr. [redacted] response my phone numbers the same and so is my email.Sincerely Robert S C[redacted] of Gem Builders

Never finished the Job, took 7 months for 300 sq addition and still never finished. Got so tired of the excuses and never showing up to work, just fired him. I would never recommend him to anyone! Now I'm stuck paying someone else to finish the Job when we already paid him.

Review: It took 4 months for Gem builders to remodel 600 sf of my house and nothing was done above a "fair" level. The hardwood installed in my den is uneven and has huge gaps between the planks.

The kitchen floor tile installed has foot prints on them where it looks like someone stepped in grout or mortar and tracked it. I've tried to fleet it out and so has gem builders but they are still there. He told us it must be the tile. Yeah I say boot print tile is all the rage now [redacted].

We had to call Gem to take a look at the wiring in the kitchen because the dishwasher stopped working. He came out and had no clue what was going on but promised a follow up. That was in November of last year and it's January 21st 2015. A I had to pay someone else to fix it because they did not ground something properly and it caused a short.

He is also supposed to come by and finish putting the putty needed for my kitchen cabinets that he installed in Feb 2014. Once again it's January 2015.

Want to hear something funny? He threatened to sue me because the bank hadn't issued him a check but he had so many delays that I had to keep rescheduling the banks inspections!! Also he wasn't even finished and still isn't but I paid the balance out of MY POCKET in hopes he'd return the good will gesture and finish my house.

Oh well looks like my Lawyer will have to settle this.Desired Settlement: Legal action. This company has had ample time to address my issues but I do not have the faith in them to satisfy me nor the time to go back and forth with them.
