The client dropped off a pearl earring for repair( the pearl was missing). She mentioned this has happened before and asked what can be done to ensure this will not happen again. We instructed her that...

underneath is a post made of gold, and that we would put a longer, and heavier one, and re-glue the pearl. The repair was done, and picked up. A couple of days later, she came into complain, and accusing us that gold was missing. She accused us of "scrapping" gold off the earring. I tried explaining to her, and assuring her that this was not that type of establishment and that I did the repair myself. Then she starting mentioning that we did a repair over five years ago and gold was missing from that repair as well. I don't know why anyone would go back to what they felt was an untrustworthy jeweler to have repairs done, if they felt there was anything dishonest being done. I explained to her, I cannot add gold to the earring, bec ause nothing was removed. I believe in trying to satisfy her would be admitting guilt. I am absolutely not guilty of any wrong doing. I have been in business for 15 years and this is the first accusation I have ever received. Which should attest to our good business practices. The client started then screaming in front of other clients saying that we use her gold, to add on to other peoples jewelry so we can triple our profits. Upon myself telling her to have more trust in the people she chooses to do business with, and not to be so paranoid, her son rushed me in a very threatening and intimidating manner, and yelled at me to not call his mother crazy. Finally they exited the store still screaming at me, and my clients. I do not feel that there is any way to remedy the situation. I do not believe this client is pleasable and I further believe this situation will escalate into violence( due to her sons reaction). I would rather this client never come back and do business els ewhere. As a note of information. The amount of gold she is accusing me of removing would be so small, that the gold removed could not and would not justify the labor involved.

Review: I brought my earring for repair because the pearl on it came out. Gemelli jewelers have done the same repair on the earring for the last two or three years, and I have paid every single time. This time, I suggested to have the post holding the pearl fixed because every year the pearl comes out. I was told it will cost me $19.60 for the repair. Upon receiving my earring I noticed the loop in the earring is shorter and basically the base that cradle the pearl is thinner overall. I never agreed to have the gold from the earring scrapped in order to fix the post. Now, my pair of earrings don't look the same as the loop is shorter and it sets higher when I wear it. I picked up my earring on Friday May *,2014 and I went to complaint to the store on Saturday May *,2014. Upon my complain, [redacted] of the store called me paranoid and that he has a business and doesn't need to do that, but actually this is the second time I have lost a portion of my jewelry. The first time I had my 18K gold bracelet fixed just to receive it 1/2 inch shorter; 2 hearts link were missing and it fitted tighter on my wrist. They just responded by saying the repair man is a honest person and that was it. I returned to store for further repairs because I assumed there was a different repair man and since the store relocated I trusted them again.Desired Settlement: Replace the gold that was scrapped/cut from the earring so that it would look as the original/match with the other earring. The earrings has a sentimental value for me and it it just upsetting what they have done.
