Gemological Institute of America Inc Reviews (3)

[redacted] – as discussed, below is the verbatim text of the email sent by our vice president of laboratory services to [redacted] (complaint ID [redacted]) by email on August 28. As of today we have not had any further correspondence with [redacted]:

“According to our records, after the services...

were completed and you were invoiced, you requested to pay for the services using GemPasses. As you have used GemPass to pay for previous services, you know that GemPasses must be submitted along with the gemstones. There were no GemPasses included with your submission, which is why you received an invoice. Therefore we cannot provide a credit as you requested.”

Best regards,

Review: I have submitted gems for many times to GIA, my account number is #[redacted], I submitted 3 rings with stones to GIA in 6/2015 as usual, I received items back and invoice, I contacted the lab and tried to pay by Gem Pass which issued by GIA, but Janet told me that they could not accept that as she could not revise the bar codes. I strongly disagree because of the following reasons:

1) GIA did not request for pre-payment or payment method upon filled out "gem submit application form";

2) I have submitted 3 Gem Pass with gems in a same time but GIA used only one and lost other two, failed to return until claimed;

3) Gem pass is issued by GIA, has cash value and using as payment, I supposed to pay only two gem pass for two color stones but GIA refused to accept them causing I must pay $80 more.

4) GIA's lab fees are varied: Because I did not know what kind of stones are they then asked for gem reports, so I must wait for the certificates and invoice to pay for them, I paid for Gem Pass so they should be used as payment, why GIA refused to take them but ask for more charge of new payment?Desired Settlement: I request for either $80 credit or using 2 gem pass as 2 color stone's report fees.

Each report I supposed to use one gem pass of $60 I paid instead of $100 new fee, total of $80 for the difference on the invoice.

Review: In 2006 I enrolled and paid GIA 4200.00 to get a GG degree. Health issues kept me from completing the courses. I have asked them to reinstate me at no additional fees, explained my health issues and even offered to send medical records. I have been denied. They are keeping my 4200.00 and have told me if I want to re-enroll I need to pay again.Desired Settlement: I would like another 3 years to complete the course work without paying any additional money as they already have my 4200.00
