General Credit Service, Inc. Reviews (6)

Dear ***,
Our records indicate we spoke with you on 4/5/2016, and at your request we contacted your employer's payroll department on 4/6/2016. We also attempted a call to you on April 8th,with no answer. I invite you to contact us and ask for ext *** - the Office Manager's extension. He will be happy to answer any additional questions you may have

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
Hello,

I am writing in response to the letter I received from your company.
I am very aware of the debt and what transpired. As I explained before my toddler has some health issues and I became unemployed and had zero income. I called and attempted to communicate this and requested to please pay $50 a month because I had no income. This was rejected and followed up with outrageous payments that I could not make. So saying I refused to pay is actually a lie. I was just told what I could afford would not be accepted as a payment.
Also, I never requested that any funds belonging to me be returned. I owe a debt and I am aware of that, but taking my significant others paycheck who is not married to me is not acceptable. We absolutely can prove the exact amount that belonged to him.  The Human Resources department at his employer is more than willing to provide the needed documentation showing exactly how much His paycheck was, that has his full name on it, and when it was deposited.
I am not entirely sure how it's possible that you have not received any funds. I've received 3 notices from the bank making sure I am aware of the situation. Also, I went and spoke to them in person about the matter and they confirmed you cleaned out one bank account. Which is again, another very simple thing to prove.
I know you could not care less about our situation, I worked for one of the top collection agencies for quite some time. That still doesn't give you the right to take an innocent bystanders entire paycheck. He will be pursuing this matter as well. We have all of the documentation that we need to prove this matter.
Good day,

Dear Ms. [redacted]: I am the attorney for General Credit Service, Inc. and am writing in response to your Consumer Complaint. I have reviewed this matter and have not found any wrongdoing by my client. Garnishment is a legal process allowed by law and is not a form of theft as you assert. If you feel...

that the garnishment is somehow improper, the appropriate course of action is to file a challenge with the Court and to prove your allegations with evidence. The garnishment was based upon a Court judgment for unpaid medical bills from 2009. Payment arrangements were made with you in May of 2015, but you did not make any of the $75 payments that you had agreed to pay. As such, after sending you a notice warning you that legal action could follow, my client ended up filing a small claims lawsuit against you in July of 2015. After you were served with the lawsuit, you sent my client a partial payment that was applied to your account. According to my client’s records, your check did not have your boyfriend’s name on it. Even if that was not the case, my client was entitled to garnish your bank account after you failed to make agreeable payment arrangements. After the judgment was entered, my client issued one garnishment to your Bank. To date, it has not received a response or any funds from your Bank. If indeed funds were garnished which my client is not entitled to retain, that is a matter for you or your boyfriend to prove in Court with proper documentation. My client cannot simply take your word for it since the funds could be intermingled and at least some of the funds in the account may be yours. In the interests of expediency, I have not addressed all of your allegations in this letter. But the forgoing should be sufficient to show you that there is no wrongdoing here. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Very Truly Yours, [redacted] Cc: Client

In response to your complaint , I have asked our Office Manager to reach out to you and answer any remaining questions you may have regarding the garnishment process. Please accept my apology regarding this matter.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: no  action was taken and no phone call was made. Sincerely,[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: you're correct you did speak with me on 4-5 because I had called to confirm the amount owed not because I was given a call to discuss the charges or making any further arrangements. I do have the info you had contacted my employer but that was to discuss the amount owed and the amount I had already paid. I then had to call back on 4-25th  to confirm the Balance due. Sincerely,[redacted]
