General Refining and Smelting Reviews (%countItem)

This company spams your business inbox daily. They get around spam filters by changing the domain of the email. I would never do business with a company as unethical as this. I continue to receive spam email from them although I have repeatedly asked them to stop.

I sent in products gold / silver items after testing, weighing, labeling each bag items were secured in and then shipped them overnight 1 box and ground another as instructed by GRC . This was my second time doing business with this company as we wanted to see if they had integrity enough to earn my business for long term relations and the first order went ok but the second one was met with great disappointment as I was ripped off $788.50 .
When I contacted Theresa I got the run around and had to wait five days on a 24/48 hr payout promise from the company. I contacted her supervisor Dave G and was told he was out of town and would contact me 6//2017 when he got back to the office which never happened . So I called Theresa again and was told they had to remelt the bar of gold that was made by the items I sent in which in my opinion sounds fishy, but I said ok . When she called me back she tried to tell me that it didn't measure up to the same weights I submitted but that can't be I explained, as we check each order three times before we ship and the machine we use to check the metals is a quality $18,000 X-ray machine so I emailed her pictures of it. We use another refiner in Chicago for years no problem and my first order with GRC no problem but after that things get sketchy and nothing but problems.
They refuse to send me the difference on my order and only gave me a partial payment with a bunch of apologies as to not sure why things took so long, I would like to get paid what is rightfully due me concerning the items I sent them !
If not I would like to have you warn others of this company as I do not want others to get ripped off as well .

They made a partial payment of $963.42
Unsatisfactory as it was suppose to be $1751.94
Owed-$788.50

Thank you *** coins, rings and things.

Ok, this is an update! I received a call from Dave G on Friday 6//17 asking what I would take to remove the feedback about GRC on social media, and I explained to him that if he paid me the $788.52 they owe me, I would retract the warnings to others I put out there. He said he would speak to his supervisor and call me on Monday 6//17. WELL, as expected, he called and offered me $350 in hopes I would retract the truthful feedback about his business. He told me to think about it and call him back. When I tried to call him back he was not available("At a meeting" seems to be the norm when trying to contact him concerning issues with gold or silver items). I left a message letting him know I would not accept that offer as it was unacceptable and unethical in business practice. I figured they needed the money more than I did since they felt the need to rip me off! ***

Dear Revdex.com
Our first obligation at General Refining is client satisfaction. This is why we take any criticism or complaint about our service extremely seriously. GRC worked diligently with *** in addressing all of his concerns and did everything we could to satisfy his expectations. But this lot did not contain the gold he estimated. After contacting *** to discuss his lot an attempt was made by GRC to ameliorate any rift between *** and GRC. Unfortunately, *** decided to take his case to the world of social media and public opinion in a direct attempt to impugn and sully our reputation.

After processing and testing his material using duplicate fire assay and XRF analysis by an experienced analytical chemist, we without question determined the value of precious metals. The amount *** expected was not present. GRC processes thousands of precious metals lots a year for extremely satisfied clients where we are required to determine an exact monetary value, but there are will unavoidably be a malcontent for one out of a thousand. Since he said he was pleased with his first go around with us, we felt in order to try and salvage the relationship we could make an offer of $350.00. In realty, this “offer” was a gesture of good will on GRC's behalf to foster an ongoing relationship with this customer, akin to an airline providing a free airline flight to a dissatisfied passenger or a restaurant providing a meal on the house to a dissatisfied patron. Again GRC attempted to resolve the issue, however we do not pay a customer any dollar figure that they demand in an "or else" scenario; that would be extortion. Nor will we be held hostage to social media complaints as *** clearly intended.

Despite the unprofessional, reckless, and unwarranted rhetoric *** has posted on this and other websites, GRC will still honor the good will offer of $350.00 we made to ***. Some advice; for future reference, ***, your "x-ray machine" only determines the purity of the surface of the material being tested, not the base or interior metal(s), so please use it wisely. In summation some expectations just cannot be met, and our company cannot in good faith just pay what a single client demands in order to silence a discourse fashioned to benefit himself.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

GRC refused to honor my request and pay what was rightfully due me and instead, offered me less than half of what they stole from me. That is not "goodwill", it is paying me back 1/2 of my own money that's due me. Personally, I think Dave might want to look internally in the business for a rat if he really believes that my numbers are what were reported on my gold lot! The fact that they now accuse me of extortion is evidence that they ripped me off and their unethical business practices, as I'm just a small business in my community and have no intent or leverage for such accusations. As far as using social media to warn others about GRC's shady business practices, I feel it is my duty and responsibilty to sound the alarm to other small businesses or others that might be entrapped with deceptive and unethical business practices. Dave has my bank information and has yet to send any money due me to my account, regardless of his false promises to do so, nor does he need my permission to send money he owes me. So again, there you have it, another big business that takes advantage of small businesses or others looking to get what they advertise which was not as agreed(theft by deception). You can cleary see on the GRC site, that I am not the first to get ripped off, and I'm sure I won't be the last until this business is shut down!Sincerely,***

We understand that the customer thinks he is entitled to more than the value of his product.

GRC using industry standards determined the value of his product and it is less than the customer expected.

GRC in good faith will pay the customer $350.00 if he accepts.
Tell us why here...
