Review: I purchased a CM skirted flatbed ($4,000) the week before Christmas '15. I decided to do business with General Truck Body because they told me they had a make/model specific bed to fit my truck. I did a "cash and carry" transaction, which means I opted to install the bed myself. Brought the bed home, set it on my truck and it wasn't long enough. I called GTB a few times to ask if I had the correct bed and was either told: "Bring it down, we'll have to see it", or they never returned my call. I had to call ANOTHER dealer to have my questions answered, which they did without hesitation. In the end, they gave me the option of exchanging for the correct one or refunding my money. I chose to have them retrieve the correct bed from the manufacturer ([redacted]) and I would swap them out in [redacted]. This bed has taken two weeks to get to [redacted] and it's still not there? I've heard multiple excuses as I've been calling every other day. I called Monday afternoon to see where it was and they told me that they had a meeting in [redacted] and were gone from 11-1 and that the truck driver stopped during this time and they missed him. "Whoops."" Sorry." That's the response I got. "Hopefully he'll be back soon." This makes absolutely no sense, we've been waiting on this shipment for 2 weeks and they didn't think to call and see if he would be close? There weren't any installers there? They literally shut the business down for this time frame? Very convenient, but I believe it's a lie. As of Tuesday (February 2), the truck was stuck in traffic on I-64 near [redacted] which is less than 2 hours away. Today is Thursday, February 4 and as of this morning at 11:30 it hasn't arrived in [redacted]. I left another message with [redacted] (salesman) and haven't heard back, yet again.Desired Settlement: I have been making payments on a truck now for over a month that I cannot use. I've been lied to, and drug around long enough and I want an explanation and the correct $4,000 bed that they should've sold me before Christmas. They made a mistake and don't seem very eager to correct it. The management of this dealer are incapable of running this business. I have never been treated this way or this dissatisfied with a business. They come off as they could really care less. SO, when I have to drive my truck illegally an hour from home to correct this mistake, I think the least they could do is completely install it for free.

To whom it may concern,

in the case of Mr. [redacted] there was a problem with his Bed. His truck was a Dodge 3500 and in the case of this year and make it is a special order body that we were un aware of. We did sell him the wrong Bed and when he called back and advised of the problems we had contacted CM Truck the manufacturer of the Bed and they advised we needed a different size, which we did not have in stock and it was a custom order bed. We offered to give Mr. [redacted] his money back but he declined and wanted the new Bed. We issued CM a new PO and ordered the right bed for Mr. [redacted]. There was a problem with shipping the truck hauling the bed into our facility got stuck in snow storm in the Midwest delaying it for multiple days close to a week. We advised Mr. [redacted] with every update we received from CM, also the new bed was $350.00 higher than the original bed, which we did not charge Mr. [redacted]. There was $200.00 shipping to get the new bed here, which we did not charge Mr. [redacted]. We DID ALSO INSTALL THIS BED FOR FREE FOR MR. [redacted] AND WE DID NOT CHARGE FOR MATERIALS USED TO INSTALL THE BED WHIS IS AN ADDITIONAL $680.00 LABOR & MATERIALS. General Truck strives to have 100% customer satisfaction, I do not know what I could have done to do more other than give him the bed for free. Please feel free to contact Mr. [redacted] and he should tell you that his bed is now installed and there were no additional charges.
