Ms. [redacted] arrived at our office on 10/9/2015 to redeem her 1987 BMW that was impounded by the University Place Police Department earlier in the day for reckless driving.  The vehicle was being driven by her son.

person remembers it as going smoothly and quickly.  Ms. [redacted] was who brought up that her son’s father had passed and that the police seemed to be picking on him.  Another employee was in the office at the time of the transaction and does not recall anything unusual about the redemption.  Both of the employees who were present were spoken to and questioned about this incident separately.
Ms. [redacted] went to our storage area to pick up her vehicle.  On her way out, she stopped back in at the front office to inform us that there was damage to her vehicle that she was not aware of.  Our office person called the driver who did the impound.  When asked about the damage, she was told by the driver that the bumper damage was done prior to Gene’s Towing arriving on scene with the UPPD.  The damage is noted on our inspection sheet.  Ms. [redacted] left the office at that time and drove the car away before an owner/manager could be called to look at her damage claim.  At no time did Ms. [redacted] ask to speak to a owner/manager.  There has also been no contact from Ms. [redacted] with our office regarding damage.
Gene’s Towing is not in the practice of treating people unprofessionally.  Our employees are trained to not respond to much of what is said to them.  This incident has been a catalyst to a refresher course on how to speak and treat people that we deal with in our business.  The employee Ms. [redacted] is referring to was involved in this refresher course.  However, Gene’s Towing will not be responsible for any damage done to a vehicle prior to being towed.
