Revdex.com spoke to the owner of the business who stated the customer brought her vehicle in because the transmission was slipping. While looking at her car, he noticed she had hit something in the road, and that she needed a new transmission. The owner suggested to the customer that she reach out to her...

insurance to file a claim so that she would not have to pay for the transmission out of pocket. He also stated that in the customer's complaint she alleges he kept the vehicle for 22 days, but he states the delay was a result of waiting for the insurance company to act, and that the first transmission they provided did not work, and they had to send a second one, which took an additional week. He also stated that during this time, the customer was driving in a newer vehicle at no cost that was provided by her insurance company. He also states that she did not pay for the work, to be done, her insurance did. He also said that the customer paid $500 for her deductible, which is the amount she is requesting for the alleged damage to the vehicle, and believes this customer may be trying to simply recoup the deductible she paid to the insurance company. He said that the dogs at his shop were separated from the vehicle by a fence, and the dogs did not cause any damage. He also stated if she believes the dogs to have caused the scratches (which are on an older vehicle) he recommends that she file an insurance claim as he does have good insurance coverage which would cover that if he were found to be responsible. He said he will not fix the damages as requested because he does not do body work, only transmission work, and that if the customer believes damages were done, she should file an insurance claim.

I myself and my husband drove my car to his shop  the first time as well as the second time and I also addressed the specific code I received from [redacted] the very first time bringing him my car and I had no battery issues. I have receipt to prove that I did not come to him with a battery issue. my check engine light was on and my car was jerking.

Review: The service performed on my [redacted] pickup was unsatisfactory. 1- transmission oil leak 2-he lost my transmission fly wheel cover and charge me 12.95 for plastic cover, that didn't fit on the transmission. 3 transmission change with a thump. 4 they cross threaded the bolts on the transmission mount . This truck was just rebuild from the frame , all parts are new and receipts .I talk to Charles about all these issues , he had the plastic cover removed and returned me 12.95 and left the transmission flywheel exposed. Doing our conversation he denied they did anything wrong. He used very strong abusive language directed at me and I reframed myself and left the shop.Desired Settlement: I would like for someone else to finish. the repairs, because I don't think he will do a good professional.job. I will get a estimate at.another reliable shop.

Response:

Revdex.com spoke with the business regarding this case. This customer was refunded for the flywheel cover because the business was not able to get a new one and had to order an after market one. Regarding the transmission mount the customer was not charged for any work done on the mount because the business did not work on the mount and so would not have been in a possible to cross thread those bolts. The vehicle was not leaking when it left the shop and the customer would have had to chance to voice concern if it had been. At this time the customer has been refunded for the flywheel and this matter has been addressed by the business.

Review: May 29, 2013 - I’ve had work done to my vehicle at [redacted] service center, located at [redacted] several times over the past 6 months. I never had a problem with the service and satisfaction of work done, until I brought my vehicle to[redacted] on May 29, 2013 to have my AC looked at and serviced. I told them of my vehicle issue (heat randomly blowing out of the vents on the driver’s side) and that I had it looked at several times and was previously told it was my blend door actuator. They insisted on doing their own diagnosis due to liabilities. The shop determined that a fan clutch-thermostatic was the issue and replaced it along with adding freon. I was scheduled to leave for TDY to [redacted] on June 9, 2013 and up until that point the AC seemed to be functioning properly. June 9, 2013 – I departed [redacted] to travel to [redacted]. Once I arrived, after an 11 hour drive, my AC started to blow out heat. I called [redacted] shop and spoke with [redacted] (owner). I told him what happened and that I was out of town for training for 5 weeks, so I wouldn’t be able to bring my vehicle in until I returned. July 11, 2013 – I was driving home from [redacted] when I started to hear an alarming noise from the rear of my vehicle. I thought I may have run over something and didn’t notice, so I pulled over on the side of the highway to check my vehicle before proceeding on [redacted]. I was accompanied by [redacted] (co-worker) who heard the noise as well. I stopped at a [redacted] station in[redacted] off of [redacted] to get gas and the both of us walked around the vehicle. I also checked under the hood, we found nothing apparent. I proceeded home and arrived around 12:00am. July 12, 2013 – I called [redacted] auto shop to inform him of two issues I was having. 1.) My AC which was serviced by them prior to my departure to [redacted] started to blow heat once I arrived in Huntsville. 2.) The noise I was hearing around the rear tires of my vehicle. I was told that I could bring my vehicle to the shop on that Tuesday, 16 Jul 13. July 16, 2013 - I arrived at [redacted] auto shop around 8am. I spoke with [redacted]) regarding my vehicle issues. We briefly discussed what was done prior to servicing my AC and I advised [redacted] that I clearly explained to the mechanic what the issue was and they decided that it was something else and that’s what I was charged for, which in fact did not resolve my issue. [redacted] took the vehicle keys to take a look at the other issue regarding the noise. One of the mechanics took the vehicle for a test drive so he could hear the noise which resulted in me being told my parking brake needed to be replacing. I agreed to have the work done which cost me close to $277.15. [redacted] told me as for my AC issue since the vehicle wasn’t currently blowing out hot air he couldn’t figure out what was going on with the AC. [redacted] advised me if the truck starts to blow hot air thru the AC vent and I’m in the area to come straight to the auto shop as long as its during business hours. A little after 4:30pm I drove away and headed to [redacted] on [redacted] to purchase a few items. As I was leaving [redacted] my vent started to blow heat. I proceeded to the auto shop in hopes that [redacted] the [redacted] was there to witness the issue. [redacted] was there and he advised me to bring the vehicle in Wednesday, 17 July 2013. July 17 2013 – I brought my vehicle to [redacted]’s auto shop. After the mechanic looked at my vehicle, he replaced the blend door actuator without notifying me. Once my vehicle was ready the mechanic brought me a bill. I advised the mechanic that I wasn’t paying again to have the same issue fixed when it wasn’t fixed correctly the first time based off their diagnosis. I requested speak with the [redacted] to regarding the matter and [redacted] told me I wouldn’t be charged. A few weeks went by and I started having the same issue my AC so I called [redacted] to bring my vehicle to be looked at. August 1, 2013 – I dropped my vehicle off at [redacted]’s service center and went to work. [redacted] called me after making a determination that my blower motor resistor was the issue. I asked why I am being told different things each time I bring my vehicle in pertaining to the same issue. He said there would be no way of them knowing because they only looked in certain areas. I told [redacted] I was disturbed about this being that they are the SME (subject matter experts.) I trust that if they say they resolved an issue then I believe they did all diagnostics needed to determine a solution. This service resulted in me having to pay an additional $169.58. I made sure that I expressed to [redacted] how I felt about the whole process; I was not pleased and felt I was being taken advantage of. Sept 3, 2013 - As I was driving, I started to hear the noise in the rear part of my vehicle. I spoke with a [redacted] about it and asked him if he could call [redacted] and let him know what was going on and if it was possible to bring my vehicle on Friday, he told [redacted] that he would be very busy on Friday and that it would be better for me to bring it on Monday, 9 Sept 2013. Sept 9, 2013 – I called [redacted] at the auto shop around 8:58am. I asked [redacted] was it ok to bring my vehicle to the shop so he can look into where the noise that was coming from. I also stated that I needed an oil change. I asked my supervisor if it was okay to have [redacted] (co-worker) to follow me to the shop which is located outside of [redacted] on [redacted] advised me he would call me to let me know what he discovered. While at work, I received a call at about 2:36 pm from [redacted] stating the oil change was done and that in he discovered a hole in my transfer case like the size of a pin, and the fluid that lubricates the chain was slowly leaking out causing the chain to rub against the metal. He told me that his shop did not do this type of work and referred me to Gene’s Transmission. He said he would write it up on the paperwork that I would get when I picked my vehicle from his shop and also put the name of the [redacted] for Gene’s Transmission and contact number. [redacted] (co-worker) took me to pick my vehicle up around 3:30pm. Sep 10, 2013 – Around 9:12am I called the number ([redacted]) provided to me for Gene’s Transmission so I could speak with the [redacted]). He wasn’t available so I informed the gentleman, who answered the phone that I would call back. He gave me the number to the other shop that was next door in the event the owner was there. I wasn’t able to reach the [redacted] at the other number ([redacted]) provided. I decided that it would be best for me when given the opportunity to just go up to the shop so I can speak with the [redacted] face to face. Sept 12, 2013 – When I got off work, I headed to Gene’s Transmission. When I arrived I asked to speak with the [redacted]). I informed him that I was referred to him by [redacted]. I showed [redacted] the paperwork [redacted] typed up concerning his findings in reference to the transfer case containing fluid slowly leaking from hole needing to go to transmission shop. “Previously rear parking brake shoe friction material had come loose from backing causing rubbing sound from rear wheels. Air pressure is good but tire pressure monitor lamp on and low fuel lamp on. Transfer case has small crack or hole on right upper rear side”. After [redacted] read this he stated to me when I would be able to drop the vehicle off so he could see what the problem was for himself, and if the problem was severe or just something minor. [redacted] also said and quoted “that good thing for me it wouldn’t cost me anything for him to just verify the problem I’m having”. [redacted] said once he determine exactly what the problem was he would give me a call. I told [redacted] I would find a way to drop my truck off in the morning when the shop opens. [redacted] said just give me a call, I tried to call [redacted] at the shop at 5:05pm to let [redacted] know I found a ride to work so I would be dropping my vehicle off at 7:00am Friday, Sep 13, 2013, but there was no answer so I assumed they were already close. Sept 13, 2013 – I took my vehicle to Gene’s Transmission shop at 7:00am, and waited until someone arrived to open up the gate so I could enter. I informed the gentleman of why I was dropping off my vehicle and he had me to sign a piece of paper that he wrote my information on and the reason I was dropping the vehicle off. I called the shop twice approximately 9:51am and 11:01am. When I spoke to [redacted] at 9:51am I just called to verify he was aware my vehicle was there. I wasn’t able to speak with him when I attempted at 11:01am. I received a call at 2:13pm from [redacted] stating it would be another hour before he was able to get to my vehicle and get back with me. Due to being without transportation, my ride ([redacted]) came to get me at 3:30pm to take me to the shop to get the status. She dropped me off a little after 4:00pm and I requested to speak with [redacted]. I was told he was next door so I walked next door to the automotive shop to speak with [redacted]. I asked him what was the status and he stated lets go back next door because his guys were currently looking at the vehicle. We went back next door and I took a seat in the lobby while he checked to see what was going on. [redacted] came back about 15 minutes later and told me that after removing the part they determined the transfer case needed to be replaced. [redacted] escorted me to the back in the restricted area so I could see the part for myself. I requested to take pictures and he said that was ok. [redacted] pointed out the small hole in the transfer case and also the shredded/burnt metal from the metal on metal friction. I exited the back area and headed to the lobby area, [redacted] came and spoke with me stating it looks like I will need to replace the transfer case and he would check to see if he had the right part for my vehicle there. I asked him if I got it replaced how much would that cost me. He told me he couldn’t tell me that right now, he had to see if he had the part first. [redacted] requested I walk around to the side of the building with him so he can check his inventory. He soon realized he didn’t have a transfer case to fit my vehicle make and model. I asked him again; roughly what did he think it will cost me to get something like that replaced to include the labor. [redacted] stated once again he couldn’t tell me at this point until he found the part to see how much it would cost. I stated I’m asking because I need to know if it’s something I will be able to afford to get fix. [redacted] told me that he wouldn’t be able to look for a part until Monday, 16 Sep 13 in order to give me a price quote. This left me without a transportation the whole weekend and I had to coordinate transportation with my Commander ([redacted]) and [redacted]) in order for me to get to my scheduled military training. Sept 15, 2013 – I was picked up from my residence on Sunday evening by my friend ([redacted])due to not having transportation to work Monday, 16 Sep 13. Sept 16, 2013 – I went to work and waited to hear from [redacted] regarding a price quote so I could then decide if I was able to get the work done, but he didn’t call. I got off work at 4:15pm and called the auto shop at around 4:22pm to speak with [redacted]. I asked him did he have a status on the part being available and a price. He told me he didn’t and once he did before he bought it he would let me know in the event I wasn’t able to get the work done. [redacted] also said that he will look more into it on tomorrow Tuesday, 17 Sep 13 and would give me a call back then. Later that evening at my friend’s residence I decided to look into the matter myself and search for the part online and make a call to a dealership to request a price quote for a transfer case. What I found was the estimated cost for a new or rebuilt transfer case would cost me anywhere from r $1,500 to $1,800 with an additional $300 core fee which is refundable once the old part has been turned in where the new/rebuilt part was purchased. This information I found out didn’t even include what it may cost in labor so I made a decision in my best interest to request that my vehicle was given back to me the way I drove it in, so I can explore other options. Sept 17, 2013 – At 9:57am I made a call to the transmission shop to speak with [redacted] regarding my decision. I spoke with a gentleman that informed me [redacted] wasn’t there and requested my information to leave a message for him to return my call. I received a call at 10:39am from [redacted] and I asked him did he get a chance to gather any information regarding price for parts and total cost, he stated no. I than told him I had looked into the possible cost of the transfer case part not to include labor and I felt it was in my best interest to just explore other options because it wasn’t feasible for me to spend that kind of money at this time. He asked me what did I plan to do and I told him I didn’t know but I may possibly have to get another vehicle. I asked him if he could put my vehicle back the way I drove it in so I can pick it up and at least drive it home. [redacted] then got upset with me and told me that he wasn’t going to do that. I asked him why he said because it would be a liability on the road. I asked him how when I drove it in without a problem. He said well you owe me money and the only way I will allow you to take the vehicle is on a tow truck. I was confused so I asked him what am I paying you for he said for what he’s done. I asked him what did he do other than find out what the problem was and I was told by him it would be a charge to have that done. [redacted] seemed to be very agitated with me and his tone completely became disrespectful. I advised him I only called with a solution that was in my best interest and by right I am able to do that and I didn’t understand how he could get away with removing my part from the vehicle and not putting it back together the way I drove it there. I didn’t agree to have anything fixed there only to find out what the problem was and how much it would cost to have it fixed, but up until that moment he was still unable to give me any figures. I also told him he and the mechanics are the subject matter experts and there wouldn’t be any way for me to know what he had to do to find out the source of the problem. He started to raise his voice at me and talk over me as I asked [redacted] what did I owe him and what is the brake down for the cost. He told me he didn’t know and he would call me back to let me know but when I came to get my vehicle by way of tow truck I need to bring his money. He also proceeded to say I guess you can go pay forty or fifty thousand dollars for a vehicle or two. I told him what I do is none of his business and I would appreciate he didn’t talk to me that way and stick to the subject at hand. I advised him I will wait for his call back to give me a price he felt he was owed and I didn’t agree. I was completely disturbed because at this point I felt I was being taken advantage of because I was a woman and completely being strong armed, extorted and forced to have this work done without being given the information to make that kind of decision in advance. I then called my brother-in-law ([redacted]) at about 10:59am and explained everything that happened. My brother-in-law told me he had to be at work at 2:00pm but he will stop by there to see if he could talk to [redacted] to make sure he wasn’t trying to take advantage of me. I received a call from [redacted] at 11:52am informing me that I was being charged $297.50; he then asked me when I was coming to pick the vehicle up. I advised him to just have my vehicle ready and I will get back with him. I called my brother-in-law and informed him of what was told to me about the cost [redacted] said was owed to him before I could pick up the vehicle. I received a call from my brother at around 2:19pm and he was very upset because the owner didn’t like that he questioned him respectfully about the vehicle and charges and requested him to leave the property refusing to show him the breakdown of the $297.50. [redacted] also told my brother that any additional days my vehicle is left there he would charge me a $35.00 storage fee. My brother-in-law stated he would leave once he answered his question. [redacted] became disrespectful to him as well and said other things which could probably be better expressed by my brother-in-law because I wasn’t present. My brother-in-law said he told [redacted] there was no need to be unprofessional when he was just asking a simple question so it resulted in [redacted] calling the police. My brother-in-law advised me to call the police to be present when I go to pick up my vehicle. This is a brief summary of what was communicated to me by my brother-in-law. I was off work due to being sick, so I was stranded at my friend’s residence. I call my sister-in-law to see if she could pick me up to take me to the transmission shop. At this point I am upset that someone would conduct business in this manor and deliberately take advantage of me just because he was upset that I chose not to get the work done there so he could cash in on me. My sister-in-law picked me up and in route to the transmission shop at 2:51pm I placed a call to the [redacted] to request assistance in getting my vehicle without altercation. Once I arrived I waited before saying anything to the [redacted] until the police arrived. After the police arrived I explained the situation to the police, he informed me that it was a civil matter so he couldn’t do anything, but be a witness to keep order and it would be my choice if I take it to civil court. I approached the lobby area to speak with [redacted]. He handed me a bill. I asked him why I was being charged $297.50, and that’s not what he initially told me. He stated that I owed him for “labor for removal and disamble, to inspect the transfer case.” I told him that even though he told me there wouldn’t be a cost to have to pay that amount of money and nothing was done, not to mention he refused to put my part back the way he received my vehicle when I drove it there. I expressed how wrong and dishonest he was in the whole situation and that I would take further actions regarding this matter. [redacted] stepped away and I consulted with the policeman. He informed me, that at this point if I wanted to take my vehicle I would need to pay the price on the receipt and deal with the matter elsewhere. So [redacted] came back and I paid the amount. I am upset and crying at this point because of being wronged by this situation. I got into my sister-in-law’s vehicle and we parked at the [redacted] location so I could place a call to the insurance company ([redacted]), to request roadside assistance to get my vehicle towed to my residence including the transfer case parts [redacted] refused to be put back on my vehicle. My sister-in-law took me to my residence and I received a text message at 3:45pm stating the towing company that would be picking up my vehicle ([redacted]). I received an automated call at 4:10pm stating the towing truck was 5 minutes from the location of my vehicle. I received a call from the gentleman that was driving the tow truck at 4:58pm stating he was in my apartment complex; I advised him I was coming outside to meet him. I told the tow truck driver where to place my vehicle and the parts.Desired Settlement: I am requesting your assistance with this matter. My expectations are as followed, I would like to be reimbursed for the [redacted] there was no work done on my vehicle to justify this cost and the receipt that was given to me did not have a itemized breakdown what I was being charged for to include an hourly labor rate, the cost to get my vehicle repaired with a new part at another location and compensation for time missed from work due to the inconvenience. I don’t trust this company, because of the way I was handled in the situation. I was inconvenienced and left without transportation, having to find a way to work and inconveniencing others. I have experienced emotional stress because of this. I will not allow anyone else to touch my vehicle until this matter has been resolved to my satisfaction.

Response:

The customer brought in a vehicle that was running with no oil. The $[redacted] charge was for removing the transfer case to see if it could be repaired or needed to be replaced. The part was unable to be repaired because it had been running to long without oil. The customer could not afford to cover the cost of the new part and had to vehicle towed. She was around while the work was being done and took pictures while the work was being done. She has a copy of the receipt of work that states the fee she paid was $[redacted].

Review: I bought a [redacted] a year. The transmission went bad 3 weeks ago. I went to the dealer I purchased the truck from to obtain the warranty information. I was told at the sale and again recently by the owner that I would not have to pay more than $100 deductible. He sent me to Genes transmission in Petersburg. He said he was the best around, and had done plenty of work for him. Very trustworthy. We took the truck on Sept 31st to this shop. He seemed extremely nice after talking to him on the phone. About a week later he called and quoted me a price of $2,800.00, and that is after the warranty pays out $2000.00 making it a total of $4,800.00. He told me there were limited transmissions available for this make and model [redacted]. My wife did some research, and found a transmission from the [redacted] dealer for $2,450.00. She called [redacted] at the transmission shop to tell him [redacted] had found one cheaper, and he became angry. He started telling her he only dealt with people he knew, and was talking a little crazy. He hung up on my wife I called him and he told me to come and get the vehicle, and it would cost me $700.00 to get it and he would throw the transmission in the back of the truck dismantled. I called the dealer we bought the truck from again that sent us here and spoke with him about this matter. He had recommended him. The dealer called his guy at Genes transmission and worked something out with [redacted] at the transmission shop. Instead of us putting out $2,800 it would cost $1,000.00. at this point I did not know what to do. The transmission shop had my hands tied with the threat. I agreed to him to rebuilding the transmission and us only paying $1500.00, and warranty paying out $2000.00. 2 weeks later I received a call from Genes transmission telling me to pick it up its ready. I told him thats great my wife would come down with a check. He said "OK". I receive a call from my wife saying Genes would not except the $1500 check due to others return checks. Yet there was a sign on the wall stating $50.00 returned check fee, she left to figure out how to get the money being my name was only on the money market account. I called the transmission shop to try to work something out and he was rude and unreasonable. therefore I couldn't get my truck. He is closed on the weekends I was 25 miles away at work. I left the job to go to the bank to pull out the money from the account went to the transmission shop to pay him and asked to to please just give me the truck. Here is your money, and I would like a copy of all parts used and ordered for my transmission. He then stated I owed him $1800.00. I was in disbelief. How did it go up $300 more. He threatened to call the police on me, so I told him do not worry. I will call them for you. The police came, and the ending result was I had to comply with whatever Genes transmission said, along with if I do not pay this amount that went up to $1900.00 and the rest would have to be worked out in a court of law. I paid the amount and left in complete disbelief. I never received the receipt I requested for the parts he claimed he bought to fix this transmission. Matter of fact that is when the issue started. I feel as if I have been walked all over. Initially robbed by this business with no right to do anything.Desired Settlement: That [redacted] be held accountable for his actions. A refund in the amount of difference in price of our agreement. The people like me, just blue collar workers, gain rights also.

Response:

The customer and the extended warranty company were to split cost of the work that needed to be done. The business would not accept a check from the customer and told the customer that it would need to be in cash before he was able to pick the vehicle from the business. The police were called and the cash was paid to the business. The customer is lying about not receiving a receipt. However, if he would like another copy he can reach out to the Revdex.com and then the business will provide the Revdex.com with that receipt to forward the customer.

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I am sorry for the misunderstanding as far as the receipt. Yes I have a handwritten receipt. I wanted receipts for the parts ordered for my truck though. Sorry for the lack of full details in my complaint. I was upset because I told him that I was sending my wife with a check, while speaking with him that morning on the phone, and he said OK. He refused the check and told my wife to go cash it at the bank. He also told her the same amount of $1500.00 as so the check was written out in front of him. The inconvenience of the matter with the check due to his nonacceptance out of the blue resulted in me having to leave my job in the middle of an urgent situation. I had to drive from Richmond, Va to Petersburg which took 45 minute one way to pull the money from the account that the check was written from $1500.00, and bring the cash to him. My wife could not go cash this check because she was not on the money market account. When I arrived at Genes transmission, I told him here is the money can I get my truck. He decided to charge $297.oo more than the initial amount. I called the police myself and they came and then all of a sudden the owners price went up another $100.00 for a grand total of $1897.00. Which the dealer and [redacted] of the Car Corral that provided the warranty and set up this whole transaction with Genes transmission. The [redacted] of dealership has agreed to testify to this fact in a court of law. There was no intention of not paying him the full amount agreed on of $1500.00. I feel as if I was truly robbed by him and would like the amount of $397.00 returned to me. I will take all the measures to achieve this goal. I never have had any personal issue with the [redacted] of Genes transmission. Matter of act I have never known him and yet do not understand the problem with this whole transaction. Now I have a very expensive rebuilt transmission that the warranty is only valid through this business for 12 months and I am uncomfortable with this because of the problems already endured. I have a family of five and this definitely hit our family hard.

After speaking with [redacted] from the company on 10/28/13 he stated the parts are listed on the itemized bill which was given to the customer. In regards to the additional charges on the bill, according to [redacted] that extra money was what the insurance company would not pay.

Review: I wentto Charles R[redacted] owner of Genes with transmission problems. He said he could rebuild for $3200 because CVT transmission. He did the job in 3 days. My receipt has hand written one year warranty. My car smelled funny when I picked it up. I tried calling him the following week he wouldn't answer then when he finally did I said hi Charles its [redacted], there was silence then another guy got on phone and said Charles wasn't there. I drove up there on lunch break and Charles wasn't going to see me but I told him I just paid you over 3 grand for you to fix my car and you need to look at it because it doesn't smell right. He told me it was residual fluid on motor from when they did the job. I left uneasy knowing at that point something isn't right. Less than 2 months later my car started whining again. Backing up a bit my mechanic initially told me I had transmission problems and referred me to Genes so when it started whing again I took it to them again and they told me its going out. I took car to Genes he said how do I know you didn't blow it up and if you want to argue I can argue. I wasn't there to argue I told him he needed to honor warranty and fix my car. He threw my keys off the counter I told him he will fix my car. I left it with him he called the next day and said it was exhaust system. He said he wasn't going to charge me for that and attached business of mechanic he took it to with a written charge of $290. He was lying I knew he basically stole money. I took to another mechanic he drove my car and told me it was the transmission. So here I am out 3200 and no transmission rebuilt. Also he told me he couldn't remember what he did to my car and the receipt is not specific on breakdown.Desired Settlement: His hand written receipt rebuild transmission $1650 to rebuild $189.90 fluid cut $1350 labor to rebuild, road test and check and clear computer, tax of $97.51.

Revdex.com spoke with the owner of the business who stated that he had rebuilt the transmission for the customer several months ago, and that the work was still under warranty. She came back in several months after that work was completed, and complained of a whining noise that she thought was the transmission. He stated that he looked at the vehicle and found that there was an issue with the exhaust. He stated that he sent it to another shop to be looked at, which confirmed the exhaust was the problem, and provided her an estimate for the work. He said that she is welcome to bring the vehicle back into the shop and he will stand behind the work that he has done, and stated the transmission is under warranty, but that the exhaust needs to be repaired, and he doesn't do that type of work in his shop.

Regards,

Review: The repair work I paid for was not repaired. [redacted] was very irate and upset with me that I was accusing him of not repairing the problem. However, I told him I was not accusing him of not doing the work only that the problem was not fixed. I simply want my $750.00 returned and I will take the vehicle to a reputable and honest repair facility to have the work done.Desired Settlement: Refund the monies paid for repair when the repairs were always covered by warranty anyways but they never honored the warranty as they could never define the problem.

Spoke with [redacted], he states that the customer never brought the car back, but it is under warranty. If the customer brings the car back they would be happy to look at the problems, all the customer has to do is bring it back into the shop.

Review: I took my [redacted] to genes transmission in petersburg with a specific code from [redacted] that I received. My car check engine light was on and occasional jerking occurred while driving. Me and husband asked him to check and fix what the problem was. He had the car for about 5 days the few days he stated he checked the codes and wiring that was entitled with the code given before bringing him the car. Mr [redacted] stated that all checked out and nothing was wrong and he stated he needed to proceed to check my computer system in the car. After checking the wiring and computer and a full diagnostic and racking up 280 bill he claim that all I needed was a battery to solve the issue I was having and quoted me a battery price of 187.00. I refused to pay that high for a battery and got a battery else where. which he wasn't happy about. Shortly after getting my car back within a week and half my car's check engine light came back on and the jerking started again. I took the car back to Mr [redacted] and he was immediately rude and disrespectful, I had stated to him that it was possible that someone made a mistake because the code written on my receipt and the code I had given him on paper was incorrect. He stated yelling and told us get off his property and he was going to argue with ignorant people.

Revdex.com spoke with the owner of the business who stated that the customer is incorrect, and that the issue she came in for the second time was not the same issue she had come in for previously. He stated that when she came in the first time, the car had to be towed in because the battery was dead, and there wasn't enough power to the computer to run the vehicle. He said that he made her aware of the charge for a diagnostic before it was completed, and she agreed to that charge. He stated that when he gave her the price to replace the battery she declined his estimate, but purchased a battery elsewhere and took the car. He stated that when she came in the second time she drove the car in, because it was not a battery issue like it had previously been, but a different issue altogether. The owner said that the current issue with the vehicle has nothing to do with the issue she initially came in for, and stands by that diagnosis. The money paid was for the diagnostic performed and he stated he will not offer a refund.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. This is not at all true, my car was never towed to his shop. I myself and my husband drove my car to his shop the first time as well as the second time and I also addressed the specific code I received from [redacted] the very first time bringing him my car and I had no battery issues. I have receipt to prove that I did not come to him with a battery issue. my check engine light was on and my car was jerking.
