RE: ID [redacted] Genesis Healthcare System is dedicated not only to providing quality services within our community, butalso to providing payment options and financial assistance opportunities.The requirements of our Financial Assistance Application is in accordance with the Ohio AdministrativeCode, Chapter 5160-Hospital Services and Chapter [Renumbered from 5112.17] Providingbasic, medically necessary hospital-level services to individuals, which is outlined in the Genesis FinancialAssistance Policy and Self-Pay Billing and Collections PolicyOur policy and application has beenreviewed by external parties and was approved by the Genesis Healthcare System Board of Directors.The patient did receive our Financial Assistance application and there is a note in our system to supportthat the patient called on 03/08/to inquire about the financial assistance programAt that time itwas confirmed that she had received an application and would be gathering proof of income to submitfor reviewAs part of this process, we are committed to not compromising our patient’s identity andtherefore only ask that account balances be provided (e.gchecking account, savings account, etc.) notthe routing or other associated bank account identifiersThe patient was contacted and a message wasleft at her home number before signature of this letter to clarify such misunderstanding and to extendthe offer of retro-applying financial assistance discount should she choose to applyWe will continue toattempt to contact the patient to resolve all issues.Regarding the outstanding balance, a letter was sent prior to placement with a third-party collector withthe intent to inform and encourage communication, as outlined in our policyPatient contact isnecessary to establish a payment plan; however, we are reviewing this process to address the patient’sconcernGenesis will certainly refund any payments that were made prior to applying an applicablefinancial assistance discount to the balance.Genesis Healthcare System appreciates the opportunity to respond to this concern and wishes toprovide a resolution and promote a positive experience within our community.Our mission is to provide compassionate, quality health care.Thank you,Michael N [redacted]

Dear Better Business/Catherine McLaughlin:Genesis Healthcare has gotten in touch with me and I am in the process of corresponding withthemI am not sure if this is just a tactic to stop this process or if they indeed are sincereI havesent them pay stubs and no bank account info so we will see if in fact this is going to resolve thisissueI would say I have to wait and see what happens and I just sent this info on 11/so it isnot resolved yetWaiting now on there response.Thank You [redacted]
