George Parsons Roofing & Siding Reviews (1)

Review: GEORGE PARSONS ROOFING was hired by my husband and I to replace an existing roof on my home with the same material that was there, .. we agreed on terms and entered into a contract with them. A few days after who we thought was GEORGE PARSONS ROOFING who had installed our roof, persistent leaking was apparant and water was gushing out of the high hats, hard and fast causing extensive damages. in multiple rooms. Large pieces of plaster were falling off of the ceiling, knocking expensive decorative plates off of the walls. We called PARSONS immediately, he and his crew saw the water pouring in and spreading through out my house, and provided approximately 20 huge buckets which were catching the water and were filling up fast with rush and debris which they left here. I had to empty all of these buckets with small pots as the weight of the water was so heavy the buckets could not be moved. I have photos of all the damages with dates, and the damages resluting from their negligence. The water and damage resulting from improper installation and workmenship continued to spread and caused extensive damage in numerous rooms, to my hand painted mural on the ceiling, the gold leaf crown moldings, Wooden flooring, persian carpets, Scalamandre draperies, wooden blinds, leather sofa, and plaster ceilings. There is a likelihood that mold and or rotted wood is un the walls and ceilings as 12 months went by with unsuccessful attempts at settling this matter amicably. It was discovered that in fact Parsons, who was registered in The Village of Kensington, where I reside was named on the permit and was named as the installer. Any workmen in this Village must provide license, disability and workmans comp insurance to the village, and they would be the only ones allowed to do the job. After months of chasing them, I discovered that they were not the installers of my roof, although I was contracted with only them and paid only them in full. They hired a company which has no record of roofing called [redacted], with 2 principals that live in New Jersey and Astoria, Queens and are related. [redacted] schuffled my job to [redacted] in West Babylon. I had no knowledge that [redacted], who uses his home address as his office, was actually on my roof, but since Ken left the job to deposit my check, I had a number of men on my roof who did not speak English, I have complete contact information for all three parties and can provide. The men came in an unmarked vehicle and Ken who said he was athe foreman refused to provide any ID, or business card yet he asked for full payment within a couple of hours then disappeared and never returned. The roof was to be done in one day so I paid him in full with a check made out to George Parsons Roofing which he insisted on by 11 30 AM. I could not get any one in the office on the phone after numerous attempts, and was left with a pile of garbage on my lawn since it got dark at 4 pm, the crew was gone. Months passed with excuses from Parsons, no mention that they falsified legal documents including the warantee from GAF which sites [redacted] who registered as the installer and a date on June on the warantee when my job was done in December. My son finally got hold of Parsons and subsequently 4 men showed up at my door unannounced, all with no ID, stated they were from the roof company, I let them in, they all tood videos and photos and notes but refused to provide a business card. After numerous attempts, via e mail, texts and phone calls which went unanswered, and months past, Parsons attempted to putty the areas which were leaking badly. I will have to report them to various State Agencies and to GAF as a result of their avoidance. I have the names and dates and precise records documents of everyone I spoke to including the secretaries, phone numbers, their insurance companies, phone numbers and addresses of all parties which I can provide to you. The damages are in excess of $100,000. Fortunately I had my floors done the same week that whomever was on my roof with out a permit was doing illegal installation. My floor men had givien me statements that verify they were here before, during and after the roof was installed which was in 1 day and a couple hours the second day when it was raining! They saw the damage that occured while the roofers were here, that the roofers didnt cover the newly done floors, dropped crowbars, tools and large pieces of plywood which gashed the floors in three rooms. I have waited close to a year to hear from PARSONS as their e mails state they will repair everything. It is my belief that this company is involved in some type of unprofessional conduct, which is unethical. I hope my discovery does not expose any thing fradulent or illegal that I was the victim of. I have been living in a 6061 sq foot home with extensive damdage for 11 months and got word yesterday that none of the 3 'companies' are willing to make necessary repairs or pay for the damage they caused. I have an older home which is one of the only homes built with A+ Construction. My plaster ceilng is now sagging and could fall down at any time. On my nassau property.com which is a public website anyone can see the grade of construction on their home. I am a real estate agent and have only come across 2 homes in 10 years that have A+ construction and mine is one of them. It is not destroyed. I should not have let the unidentified people whom I never heard from again into my home, but should have contacted you immediately. I believed I was hiring a legitimate company and the people who were left on my roof did not fulfill the c ontract as per GAF SHINGLES which called for 6 nails in each shingle. I have at most 4 which are visible and my roof is still leaking. Please help me, To the best of my knowledge, I have written my statementDesired Settlement: full refund and repair of damages resulting fro

Michael M[redacted] investsigations, Steffanie from GPR, Kameron Y** from [redacted],, Kenneth C[redacted] West Bablyon, Nikkos S[redacted] from [redacted], Kenneth C[redacted] brother or partner. It was extremely difficult to identify any of these people at the time. I will tell this to the news.

Response:

The roof that we installed was done properly just like the other roofs that we have installed over the past 40+ years. They had some ice damning on a flat roof that we did which caused a small amount of leakage into one room in their home. When they called we quickly ran over that same day and brought some buckets to catch the water. It was not much water at all. There was maybe a quarter of an inch to a one half of an inch of water in a few of the buckets. My men then went on the roof at no charge and spent hours chipping away the extremely thick ice that had formed on one of their flat roofs. We later installed an oversized drain on the flat roof at our expense. We also installed a new flat roof against our better judgement because he insisted. I only did these items to avoid the situation we are at now. These are things that we wanted to do to go over and above for our customer as we always do which is why our reputation is so good. At that time [redacted] asked me if I would pay for the damages. I explained to him that we are not responsible for ice damning but because there was so little damage I'd be glad to paint the affected area. It was a small area of the ceiling that we all agreed needed to be painted. As time went on they kept claiming there was more and more damage and leaking that was occurring but never called during inclement weather to let me see the leaking like they did for the first leak. They would only want to show us damage that they claimed was caused by the leaks. There were not any other roof areas that leaked. All of the other damages they were claiming to be caused by us were existing cracks and peeling paint. Damage that was obviously at least 15-20 years old. There was not any damage to any other items in their home. I handled their phone calls and issues so quickly that [redacted] told me I am the most professional contractor she has ever dealt with and she would like for me to do a seminar in front of all of her real estate associates and she was going to try and get me a lot of business as her way of saying thank you. As time went on they kept bringing up more issues that were pre-existing and that's when I told them that it would be best if they dealt with my insurance company because I cannot pay for pre existing issues. [redacted] responded by saying "that is a great idea because I am very good at dealing with the insurance companies". After a long expensive investigation by many insurance adjusters and my insurance company they have found that the damages that [redacted] and [redacted] are claiming were all pre-existing other than the small area in a ceiling which was caused by ice damming. re...

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

Please be advise that I had two engineers examine the damage. this week, as well as professional and licensed contractors, floor company, electrician and painters. I have witnesses that were in my home the day that the roof was installed, a crew who were refininshing my floors. They were here the week before, during and after Parsons, who never disclosed that they would not be doing the job, but [redacted] would, will testify that there were NO LEAKS OR ANY WATER FROM THE CEILING OR HIGH HATS until a few days after the roof was installed. The contractor that was , [redacted] here disappeared after he asked me for full payment and left men who spoke no English on my roof. They were not allowed to be on my roof, as they did not provide any mandatory documents ie insurance, liability, license, workman's comp to the Village. The Village will be notified by me, and [redacted] will be required to provide proper documents and an explanation from [redacted] Parsons as to why they hired someone else without filing Kens insurance and other docs to the Village of Kensington. The buckets were delivered by Parsons with their ID on them and are still in my possession. They were filing up daily and had to be emptied with pots as they were so heavy. I will be forwarding more photos of the damage and Parsons buckets. At no time did anyone represent that any past damage which is clearly visible yet dry was caused by them. Parsons examined my entire home prior to taking this job. It is an outrage that they claim 1/4-1/2 in of water was in a few buckets. They brought over a dozen buckets and saw water pouring out of my high hats, in the kitchen, breakfast room. Their attempts at masking the damage from outside didn't work. I have some shingles from the job and they appear to be seconds. I also have a warrantee from GAF that Parsons provided with another company who I spoke to and is in Albany, never heard of Parsons but was named as the installer of my roof. This company is called [redacted], and wants to know why Parsons put a them on the warantee when they were never at my home. GAF was notified as well. Regardless of what old leaks occurred in the past which were repaired and dry, NO WATER SHOULD COME IN THROUGH FLAT ROOFS OR HI HATS WHERE THERE ARE NO GUTTERS LOCATED ON THE ROOF. There were large cs of plaster which were found by me in the gutters and liters which were the cause of the ceiling falling in breakfast room. THERE WERE NO GUTTERS OR LITERS ANYWHERE NEAR THE PANELED LIBRARY WHERE THE HIGH HATS FELL, BUT THERE WERE OPEN SEAMS AND BUCKLING. I understand that GAF Does not recommend roof installation in cold and inclement weather as the materials do not cure. GAF and Parsons requires 6 nails in each shingle, when I have at most 4. I would like to see the receipt of where they purchased the shingles, if in fact they are the ones I ordered. PARSONS WARRANTEE STATES I HAVE 10 YEAR WARRANTEE OF WORKMANSHIP AND LABOR. And 50 year warranty of shingles. I have every thing documented and can provide proof to you. Regarding Parsons statement that leaks were old, when a new roof is installed there should be NO LEAKS ANYWHERE regardless. Homeowners like me understand that a roof, like everything else has a usable shelf life, and that is exactly the reason for why I paid top dollar to top dollar to Parsons. Please have them read their contract where they stated that 10 year warantee on labor and workmanship.

Response:

Please see my responses in CAPS. These attachments, and I have 85 photos which I would like to send to you are accurate assessment of the damages that occurred after the new roof was installed. (THE [redacted] HAD MY OFFICE NUMBER AND CELL PHONE NUMBER AND WE RESPONDED TO EACH AND EVERY CALL AND EMAIL UNTIL WE REALIZED THAT THEY KEPT COMING UP WITH MORE AND MORE DAMAGE. THIS IS WHEN WE THAT IT WAS BEST THAT THE [redacted] DEAL WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY. [redacted] AGREED THAT WOULD BE BEST. THE [redacted] KNEW THAT WE WERE HANDING THE ISSUES OVER TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND TO DEAL WITH THEM FROM THAT POINT ON BECAUSE EVERY TIME WE SATISFIED AN ISSUE THEY WOULD COME UP WITH A NEW ISSUE. I FELT I WAS IN A NO WIN SITUATION SO WE BOTH DECIDED TO HAVE THE [redacted] DEAL WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY.)
