To whom it may concern: As General Manager of Georges Cycles and Fitness I was tasked with responding to complaint ID ***I spoke with all of the mechanics involved with the repair in questionThese are the findings of my investigation:On
April 10, *** ***, age 15, came to our Front Street location unaccompanied and requested that his bike be repairedOur mechanics assessed the situation and determined that the pedals had been installed improperlyPedals are specifically left and right hand thread and they had been installed in the opposite direction than is requiredThis destroyed the threads on both the cranks and the pedals *** *** then called his mother who came to the storeOur mechanic explained the situation to Ms***Per Ms***’s request we ordered a set of black cranksWe offered to order pink cranks to match the original cranks but she declinedShe indicated that the $black crank would be fine as she did not know how much work she could get out of her son to pay for the cranks.Unfortunately the order was mishandled and the cranks were not ordered in a timely mannerOn or about May 6, 2015, Mr*** came to the store to check on the status of the bikeWe immediately recognized that there had been an ordering error and explained the situation to Mr***Mr*** indicated that he did not want the black cranks anyway, he wanted pink cranks as that was how the bike had been originally equippedWe agreed to order the pink cranksWe did so even though it required us to purchase them from an online bike shop and having them shipped to us as none of our suppliers had pink cranks availableWe therefore paid full retail and shipping which totaled $When the cranks arrived we prioritized and completed the repairWe then contacted Mr*** and told him the bike was ready for pickup and the cost of the repairs.Due to our ordering error Mr*** was told that there would be no labor charges and he would only be responsible for the cost of the cranks and the shippingMr*** came to the store and wanted to test ride the bike prior to payingWe of course agreed and he took the bike outside and returned shortly thereafter and stated that the paint on the cranks was chippedHe asked that a new crank be orderedWe agreed to reorder another pink crank, but we told Mr*** that he would be responsible for the full cost of the partMr*** was not willing to accept this offer and left the store.The pedals were no longer usable when the bike first arrived and we told *** *** to take the one pedal with himHe could not take the second pedal as it was stuck in the crank as a result of being cross threaded.We have attached a photograph of the “defective” cranks for your reviewThe three small scratches are the defect and could have happened at any time.Contrary to Mr***’s comment that our employees treated him unprofessionally it was Mr*** who treated multiple employees with disrespectIt is my sincere belief that we went above and beyond to rectify the situation for Mr***.Respectfully,*** ** ***General ManagerGeorges Cycles and Fitness*** ** *** ***
