Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  SEE Attached
Regards,
[redacted]

To All Concerned,
I’d like to preface this response by saying that Mr. [redacted]
has stated twice in front of others and once in writing that he is “just trying
to be a pain in the a**”  Further, Mr
& Mrs. [redacted] have subjected ourselves, as well as our carpenters,...

to
extreme vulgarity throughout production.
Finally, there is a small balance due, warranty work will be performed
when the balance is paid in full.
When the Trex composite deck and pergola were completed in
June Mr. [redacted] expressed that he was extraordinary pleased and paid his
balance (less 150.40 due to a math error on his part).  He even pointed to and made very favorable
comments on some the detail carpentry work by our carpenter.  Approx. 10 days later, after a reminder of
the balance due, he had us out to his home to show us some spacing between the
deck boards that were a fraction of an inch off.  We returned with a Trex representative who stated
that it is a “beautiful deck”.  He did
advise that there are a few minor points that could be addressed, however if he
“returned at a different time of day these points would now be in a different
location”.  He also stated that the
method of addressing these may be a remedy that Mr. [redacted] would find less
visually attractive than his initial concern.
Provided with this information, we advised Mr. [redacted] that if he still
wanted to move forward we would (and still will), but will require that the
entire balance to be paid first.  His
response was “good luck with that”.
Further, and very important, we point out that wood is
hydroscopic, meaning that is reacts to the moisture in atmosphere. On interior
cabinetry, you would not expect to see much reaction due to the conditioned air
(which removes humidity) of an interior space. If you turn the air conditioner
off, you will quickly see the effects of the humidity on wood, especially at
joints. The product we installed for Mr. [redacted] is an exterior product. The
frame is wood and the surface is composite decking which is manufactured with
wood products. Both react to the atmosphere due the hydroscopic nature of
wood.  Joints and spacing will vary based
on the time of day and humidity. This is common on exterior wood products.
The fasteners used were purchased from a deck supplier and
they are made for that express purpose.
They are of hard steel, coated with a zinc finish that provides corrosion
protection to prevent rusting.
The deck frame is constructed using 2” X 8” pressure treated
beams and 2” X 6” p/t joist set on 16” centers.
There is no sagging.
Thank you for your time to consider this matter,
[redacted]

We will accept Mr. [redacted]'s stated claim that the balance due is 60.00.
We will also take steps to correct issues that Mr. [redacted] has.  We would like to meet with Mr. [redacted] to discuss his concerns and make arrangements to correct the agreed upon matters.
