August 6th, Business Bureau:I am writing to you about ID: [redacted] regarding the GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY ALUMNI & STUDENT FEDERAL CREDIT UNION (GUASFCU) and our member [redacted] ***[redacted] requested for check images to be producedWe informed him over the phone and in person that only of these check images could be produced, as the other were GUASFCU checks and so were not scanned into our databaseThese checks are currently physically held in storage.We originally had assessed [redacted] a $check image fee for the check we sent him in an emailHe contested this fee in a general sense, i.e., he does not think there should be a for a check imageWe informed [redacted] that the reason for this fee is because we pay for the technological services to produce check imagesAlthough our understanding is that other institutions do have check image fees (contrary to [redacted] ***'s claim), we understand [redacted] ***'s complaint and I will bring up this issue to our Board of Directors when we review our policies in the Fall of 2014.We have agreed to reverse [redacted] ***'s $check image feeAs a Credit Union that prides itself on member service and transparent banking, we appreciate member input on how we can continuously improve our servicesFurthermore, we also informed [redacted] that GUASFCU does not fee for many of our technological services and instead shoulders these costs to provide our members with superior servicesWe promptly responded to [redacted] ***'s notice sent by Revdex.com on August 4" after discussing the notice with MsAnita Horne on August 6", the day the notice reached our office.In sum, we appreciate [redacted] ***'s suggestion and will reassess check image fee policiesIn the short term, we have reversed his specific $check image feeIf you have any questions please contact helpsaguasseu.com or ###-###-####Please confirm receipt of this fax,Sincerely, Rahul K

Review: GUASFCU is the only bank I've used that refuses to provide either a paper or digital copy of a cashed check without payment of a $1.00 fee. I understand that their Truth in Savings Disclosure states this policy; however, I think it is not in line with standard practice and is extortion.Desired Settlement: I'd like my three digital check images to be generated without a $3.00 fee.
