 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I received a rude email from [redacted] at Georgetown stating that they are not honoring my 90 day request for repayment because I cannot "repay the balance on my own terms". He also stated that they estimate I only should have spent $5000 of my refund and should have $7500 left. However, my rent is $1700 not including utilities, bills, etc. I received my loan refund in January. It is now April. I also explained to him that I could not work during the program and this is all the money I have until I find a job. It takes longer than 30 days to find a nursing job and get credentialed in order to work. He didn't care. He said that they could work out a "short extension" before handing this over to collections. I have attached their response.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:  I had initially asked for a refund and they have not responded to date.  I have copied and pasted my response from the program director, Dr. [redacted] dated 12/30/2013 - 12/30/2013
Dr. [redacted],
Contrary to what you stated,
"This information was available in the program descriptions" is far from
the truth. The information about the courses, after I paid the
application fee was revealed to me by **. [redacted] via email; so I was
not privy to that information before I applied.  You can see per my
conversation via email with [redacted], and incidentally this was long
before the holidays, and still I have not received an answer from her.
I do not know what you refer to as especially challenging but I am
quite capable of working independently and relish the thought that I
would have to visit the campus on occasions. However, I have never done
an online course before and if it involves sitting at the computer for
hours, chatting and all that nonsense then this is not my preferred
format for learning.
Also, before I applied I saw on the school website about grants and
loans, which is how I planned on paying for the Ms in CTR. Apparently,
you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth but I have to do what is
best for me financially via grants and loans and scholarships.  I have
never had to pay a deposit for any course until Georgetown University,
and my courses were all paid for.
Respectfully,
[redacted]
Regards,

Review: I applied to do the Masters program in Clinical and Translational Research for the term Spring 2014. I got accepted only to be told later, via email that the program is predominantly online and part hybrid. If this information was disclosed at the time of my application I would not have bothered to apply because I am not interested in doing any online academic programs.Desired Settlement: I would like the University to refund my application fee of $80.00 as I have no desire to take up this offer of an online graduate education.

Review: I was enrolled in Georgetown's Nurse Anesthesia program and was not working due to the rigorous course load. I withdrew from the program because I did not feel I was getting a good education or the support I needed. My withdrawal was processed on 2/27/14. I had received financial aid. There was enough money to cover my tuition ($24,000), and I received a refund ($12,700) with extra funds I had to use for living expenses as this was my only form of income while in school. Georgetown is saying I owe them $1547.00 because they had to refund 50% of my tuition and because I received a refund I owe them this amount of pocket and that left me a balance. As of March 2, my lender still showed I owed $37,000 roughly ($24,000 was tuition and $12,700 refund I received). The tuition refund Georgetown paid back wasn't reflected yet. I got an email today from Georgetown stating I owe the $1547.00, and it is due on March 27, 2013. Then a few minutes ago, I received final notice stating if I don't pay this past due balance (which it isn't past due yet) that they are increasing the amount to $2000 and sending it to collections. This is harassment. I just withdrew a few days ago, and I am trying to research this myself to make sure I do owe them. I also am not working, and I am looking for a job. So for them to force this issue days after I withdrew is harassment.Desired Settlement: I would like 90 days to pay the full balance. I should be given a reasonable amount of time to discuss this with my lender to make sure that I truly do owe Georgetown the money. I also was not working because of the program. This was a very unexpected life change, and I would like time to find a job and make payments.
