I am writing in response to your letter dated August 15, 2014, informing us of a complaint received against Georgia Heritage Federal Credit UnionThe case ID# for this complaint is ***.
The complainant opened a savings and checking on July 23, and deposited two $1,bad checks into our ATM on Aug 4th and 5th. Both were returned “Refer to Maker”He withdrew a portion of the funds from the first deposit leaving his account at a negative $and we reversed the 2nd deposit when we realized the activity on his account was suspicious. Upon further investigation it was learned that the maker of the worthless checks, who was with complainant at the time he deposited the checks, had a conviction for same. We also received notifications from *** *** ***e, that other financial institutions made inquiries on complainant between July 21, and Aug 6, 2014, which is a kiting indicator. Accordingly, we filed a police reportAdhering to our membership agreement, policies and procedures, and in the interest of the safety and soundness of our financial institution, the complainant’s account was closed after the negative account balance was satisfied
We would like to consider this matter closed. Should you desire further supporting information such as a copy of the police report, we will consider the request
