Let it be mentioned that Nu-Look Cabinet Refacing has refaced thousands of kitchens since and maintains an A+ rating with your agency, the Revdex.comThis is why we will defend our craftsman’s excellent work from unreasonable homeowner demandsPlease note the second sentence in the customer’s letter says that “we explored various options for updating our kitchen and decided the most cost effective method would be to veneer over the existing cabinet structure and install new doors” The key words are “to veneer over the existing cabinet structure and install new doors” and not to rebuild cabinetsThe “defects” cited in his letter result from the natural imperfections in the homeowner’s year old soft, knotty pine cabinet boxes They are not newer cabinets and we can only place our straight, wood veneer over the “canvas” we are presented with We have refaced hundreds of this style cabinet box without complaint Also, the homeowner proposes that we rebuild sections of their cabinet boxesAs mentioned above, the scope of our business is to “veneer over the existing cabinet structure” and not to “rebuild the cabinet boxes” to correct their imperfectionsThis is certainly not in the purview of our services and our contract clearly states that we veneer existing cabinet boxes In fact, rebuilding would negate the cost savings that are the main reason to reface cabinets than replace as this homeowner mentioned in his sentence above This is why a new cabinet dealer quoted so much to the homeowner to rebuild the existing sections of their year old soft, knotty pine cabinets We have made just compensation to the homeowner for an initial orderWe did have a delay in an estimated target start date due to some unforeseen bad weather (you may recall the multiple significant snow falls last winter) in addition, a couple of our senior carpenters were out on extended medical leave, which made it a challenging winterThis can create challenges to the very intricate puzzle of scheduling installations, therefore delays may happenAll we can do is ask for understandingThe craftsman who worked on this customer’s kitchen has years’ experience with usHe made multiple efforts to satisfy the homeowner This is why we will defend our craftsman’s excellent work from unreasonable homeowner demandsUnfortunately, this homeowner refuses to pay for the material and work that transformed their kitchen, so we are left with no alternative

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
This is deformation of character, the many imagined defects included doors measured by them included the wrong size, and had to be reordered, that did not match in color, and other defects, that where promised to be fixed, never where. We have a problem with the laminate pulling away. My health is none of his business, and this shows his real character of what kind of man he is and how he treats other people. As far as my issues with my stove they do not concern him, but in fact me had a defective stove that ** replaced and honored there warranty unlike NU Look. I want my defective doors replaced, and as his warranty states he will supply the doors, and I will supply my own labor. I have never seen a business attack a person's healthThis is not the way a good business treats people, and if you read his reviews you will find he has done this to others. With that in mind how can you give him a A plus rating? Regards, *** ***

This homeowner has serious problems The homeowner was pushed down the stairs by his ex-wife and sustained brain injuries that prevent him from working He is now very frustrated and agitated While we remodeled his kitchen he spent a good deal of each day calling companies that
have "wronged" him with complaints and demands for service For instance, he had the ** service tech come out to "fix" a knob on his new ran** that was not perfectly vertical He required us to repair or replace several imagined defects before finally paying us He is now calling for additional service The warranty on his contract clearly states that "Installation labor is not included" for any required service He does not want to pay the $up front required for us to replace his imagined defects We remodel hundreds of kitchens every year but cannot always gau** the mental state of a homeowner befoehand

Wood is a soft material which is why even premium furniture companies cannot warranty their products.  Our door supplier requires that "damaged" doors installed last year be returned to them for inspection before they may supply new.  The homeowner can call our office about how to return the doors.  It is our supplier's discretion whether they will in fact be judged defective and whether there will be a charge to replace them.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. I do not expect Nu-Look to replace or rebuild our cabinets. His response misses the main point of our complaint, that his finish work was substandard and should have been corrected. It says in our contract that if we find defects within a year they'll come and fix them. I recognize that not every item listed by our consultant is the responsibility of Nu-Look. On Nu-Look's last visit we pointed out multiple incidences of workmanship defects that should have been corrected. We were told to fix them ourselves. This after having reported the same problems over the course of the project and being told they would be fixed. At no point were we told that the underlying cabinets were the problem and the item we pointed out couldn't be fixed. Does Nu-Look get to be the final arbiter of what is a workmanship defect? They seem to think so, I don't. We have a cracked drawer, split fascia caused by how it was screwed in, doors falling off, cosmetic defects. These have absolutely nothing to do with the age or condition of the cabinets. Nu-Look is taking responsibility for nothing and that is what is unacceptable.Nu-Look has photographs of the all the problems we've listed and they're saying NONE of them are their responsibility because they have 30 some years with no complaints. Until Nu-Look either agrees to review the list of problems and repair the issues they said they would or negotiate a settlement I will pursue this complaint until I am satisfied.  Regards, [redacted]

Let it be mentioned that Nu-Look Cabinet Refacing has
refaced thousands of kitchens since 1971 and maintains an A+ rating with your
agency, the Revdex.com. This is why we will defend our craftsman’s
excellent work from unreasonable homeowner demands. Please note the second sentence in...

the customer’s letter
says that “we explored various options
for updating our kitchen and decided the most cost effective method would be to
veneer over the existing cabinet
structure and install new doors”.    The
key words are “to veneer over the
existing cabinet structure and
install new doors” and not to rebuild cabinets. The “defects” cited
in his letter result from the natural imperfections in the homeowner’s 75 year
old soft, knotty pine cabinet boxes.  They
are not newer cabinets and we can only place our straight, wood veneer over the
“canvas” we are presented with.  We have
refaced hundreds of this style cabinet box without complaint.  Also, the homeowner proposes that we rebuild sections of
their cabinet boxes. As mentioned above, the scope of our business is to “veneer over the existing cabinet structure”
and not to “rebuild the cabinet boxes”
to correct their imperfections. This is certainly not in the purview of our
services and our contract clearly states that we veneer existing cabinet boxes.
In fact, rebuilding would negate the cost savings that are the main reason to
reface cabinets than replace as this homeowner mentioned in his sentence above.
This is why a new cabinet dealer quoted so much to the homeowner to rebuild
the existing sections of their 75 year old soft, knotty pine cabinets.
We have made just compensation to the homeowner for an
initial order. We did have a delay in an estimated target start date due to
some unforeseen bad weather (you may recall the multiple significant snow falls
last winter)  in addition,  a couple of our senior carpenters were out on
extended medical leave, which made it a challenging winter. This can create
challenges to the very intricate puzzle of scheduling installations, therefore
delays may happen. All we can do is ask for understanding. The craftsman who worked on this customer’s kitchen has 13 years’
experience with us. He made multiple efforts to satisfy the homeowner.  This is why we will defend our craftsman’s
excellent work from unreasonable homeowner demands. Unfortunately, this
homeowner refuses to pay for the material and work that transformed their
kitchen, so we are left with no alternative.
