Review: On January 31, 2013 I contracted with Geothermal Connect to install a geothermal heat system to my house. The owner, [redacted], assured me that he would have the system installed within 30 days. As of July 21, 2014, installation has not been completed, although the owner has finally scheduled an appointment to install the final portion of the unit. Additionally, I have concerns about the physical and environmental safety of the work done. A thick sludge was discharged into my yard, killing part of a lilac tree and inhibiting even weed growth in the area. The owner made room in my electrical box for the geothermal unit by combining four other circuits into two breakers. To the best of my knowledge, he is not a licensed electrician. When I complained and called his attention to this, he made no attempt to have a licensed electrician repair his work. In addition, a number of things were done that were unprofessional and inconsiderate, including: running electrical conduit directly beneath the first floor laundry chute, rendering it unusable, damage to the wire fence and gate, which he did partially attempt to repair, repeated delay in installation and short notice when it was finally started, which meant I was unable to stop oil delivery and was left with 2/3 tank of fuel oil, failure to remove the old furnace as I was told would be done, partially incomplete insulation of pipe and joints in basement, sloppy pipe and hanging pipes in basement which also partially inhibit cellar door movement, and the furnace unit installed on a wooden platform instead of extending ductwork to reach it.Desired Settlement: Refund of $1240.23 for fuel oil delivered after stated project completion date. Rebate of at least 10% for six month delay in work. Refund of $84 for water heat, estimated at $20% of electric bill. Repairs to electrical as determined by licensed electrician, to include correct installation of circuit breakers and moving conduit blocking laundry chute. Testing and cleanup of sludge in back yard by licensed landscaper. Removal of old furnace. Finished insulation of pipes. Fencing repair.

Customer signed a contract dated Dec. 31, 2013 to install a geothermal heat and cooling system in her home, which also included drilling

4 bore holes vertically 150 deep each using DNR approved grout material.

Review: Contractor not licensed in City of Chicago yet signed a contract to perform HVAC install in Chicago in June 2014. Client asked about license a few months later and contractor admitted no license even though he showed client another install he performed in Chicago. Client allowed many months time for contractor to obtain necessary legal steps to perform work. February 2015 contractor was approved for City License, yet failed to pay fee and collect license for over two months. Client attempted to contact contractor through two e-mails and two phone calls over a one month time span with no response. Client sent certified letter terminating contract and requesting refund of $5000 deposit less engineering drawing/calculations costs incurred. Contractor replied via email claiming only received one phone call and refusing any refund.

This contractor failed to obtain license given ten months to do so, failed to communicate for one month, and is refusing refund.Desired Settlement: Refund of $5000 deposit less engineering costs with proof of payment to engineering firm.
