Gerald's Auto Service

Review: In February I gave Gerald $1000 to buy a motor for my car and to start the initial repair on the vehicle. He found a motor and took about 2 weeks before he decided to put it in. When he went to put it in, there was a defect with it so he had to find another motor. He contacted the guy who sold the motor and he was to get another one. That took about 3 weeks. When he got the new motor, Gerald said he was going to work on it, but never started on it. I was working from home at the time, so he said he didn't think he needed to rush on it. My mother and sister took their cars up there and got their repairs done the same day. Myself, mother and sister would always inquire about the status of my car and we would get an excuse as to why it wasn't done. Finally my mother and I contacted Gerald and let him know we were going to the beach and we would need my car for the trip. He said okay. After repeated calls and still more excuses, Gerald ended up hurting his eye and not being able to do any work. He was supposed to call me and let me know if he had a car I could drive to the beach since he never fixed mine and he didn't call. When we got back I called him to see if my car was done and it was still not done. Gerald was still having issues with his eyes that turned into issues with his legs. He stopped going into the shop to work because he couldn't stand and the doctors couldn't figure out why. He said he would try to get a mechanic friend to work on my vehicle since he still hadn't started on it and by this time we were getting ready to move out of state. For about 2 weeks Gerald would answer his phone and give me false promises about getting something done to my car. Then he became unreachable on the phone I would call him on and his helper would answer his shop phone but could not provide any information about my car getting done. My mother and I would leave messages with the helper for Gerald since Gerald would call him almost everyday and Gerald would not return any calls. We have exhausted our money renting cars for me to drive to work which we explained to his helper to pass along and we are still waiting for a return call that we know is not coming.Desired Settlement: I need a car to drive as I am on the verge of losing my job. So I either need my car fixed immediately or, I need a rental car provided and paid for my Gerald until he can get my car fixed, or I need him to pay what my vehicle is worth so I can take that and buy a cheap used car and he can sell mine once he gets it fixed.
