In response to customers complaint regarding his Porsche
The car was towed into our shop with all wiring disconnected and various pieces of the car just laying in the seats and floorboards, the car had not been running in a while due to various
problems
The customer wanted the car put back together and running, we agreed to help him and let him know that it would be a while as this was considered a project /restoration and we worked on those cars when we had extra time and not usually during our work dayThe customer agreed and advised that there was no rush as the car had not been running anywayWe gave the customer an estimate of what we could tell was wrong with the car with out it running and with it being in so many pieces
We had no idea that the customer was still paying insurance on the vehicle it was never discussed
We completed the repair work as per the estimate and then gave the customer a list of items that would need to be repaired to make the car road worthy and safe, he agreed to repair the brakes which we did, he did not want to put any more money in the car he just wanted it running and to take it homeAs we did not take all the wiring loose and the car was in pieces when delivered to us we had no way of knowing what was working on the car before it was taken apart and or if all pieces were there, we put the car back to together as best we could and tried to do as much as possible with the money/budget supplied by customer
We suggested that the gas tank be taken off, drained and cleaned but again he did not want to spend any additional money and we understood that so we made some suggestions and gave him the car back
The customer knew the condition of the vehicle when brought to us , however it appears he expected a new car to be returned to him, the vehicle is years old and was not kept up in good conditionWe have many hours in this vehicle that the customer was not charged for however we were trying to make the vehicle as safe and road worthy as possible
We are sorry that the customer decided to take the vehicle without it running properly, however we had completed all repairs that we had been paid to do and were at a point where we could not do any more without being compensated. We regret that the customer was not satisfied with the work performed , however we performed what he wanted to pay for, therefore we do not feel that we owe them any compensation
Please advise if you need any additional information from us, German Auto Service

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
Yes, Mr [redacted] is correct as the dashboard was removed and several connections were unplugged. If you review the parts list he supplied, those parts go to the engine not the dashboard.
This list was given once the car had been examined by Mr. [redacted].  I was told this was the estimate cost to get the car running. I didn't expect it to take almost two years although I  did say there was no rush.  After all, I know it's not easy to repair a 30 year old car.
I picked the car up twice after being told it was ready. Both times the car was hesitating and running so rough, I returned to the shop within an hour.  After the second time, Mr. [redacted] suggested running the old gas out .  I realized he'd left the old gas in the car and after a year and a half, the old fuel was was clogging up the engine. This lead to the discovery of a missing gas cap and water in the gas tank which only increased my concerns over what damages had occurred while in his care.
From my point of view, after spending $5600.00 on these repairs I should have a car that runs. I did not receive a new estimate of repairs/parts needed nor was I told more would have to be paid. The first estimate should have gotten the car running with the exception of the brakes which I paid and the now defunct fuel injectors which I believe was his fault.
I believe his neglect of the car caused more problems and as a result I have a car that doesn't run much less is "road worthy". A refund of $2400.00 will allow me the opportunity to find someone to get this car back on the road where it belongs
Regards,
[redacted]
