I have had my home and 2 vehicles insured with Germantown and was about to add a third car to my policy.
One of the vehicles caught fire and was sold to a junkyard. I reported to Germantown included police report. Note that I did not file a claim for the loss of the vehicle.
The insurance on my second vehicle double because I took the junk car off policy while looking for it's replacement.
I feel that this is a total lack of customer care. I am in the process of switching my home, and other vehicles to a different company. One that understands and cares about it's customers. Realizing that life can send even the most loyal of customers a curve ball I feel that Germantown basically proved they could care less about me as a customer and no longer deserve my money.

We have received and reviewed the complaint filed by Mr [redacted]. Mr [redacted] does have an open file and is entitled to reasonable rental loss as outlined in the terms of his policy. We are currently in negotiation with Mr [redacted] and anticipate an amicable resolution to this...

Review: They are very eager to do business with you when they are collecting the premium. They are missing in action ( MIA ) when it comes to handling a legitimate covered claim. I would recommend running from this company before its too late. Do not find out the hard way like we did that they will look for any excuse possible to deny your claim - and when they cant find one then they will deny it without one and hope you go away.Desired Settlement: Pay the claim as required in the insurance policy.

Review: We purchased Fire insurance to protect a rental duplex we own. After the fire, we were given permission to rebuild the home. The coverage included rental reimbursement for loss of rent during the period to rebuild. We were assured as long as we completed the restoration, we would be reimbursed. However, after taking 10 months to rebuild the home, we were only offer 3 months reimbursement. We paid mortgage payments for 10 months without the ability to collect rents. The fire occurred on 2/22/14 and the first tenant moved in 1/1/15.Desired Settlement: Reimbursement for the 10 months of lost rents.

Review: My car was hit by a person insured with Germantown Mutual. The lady responsible for the accident gave me all of her information, I called Germantown to have my car taken car of. This is where the nightmare began. I dealt with a lady name [redacted]. She told me to take my car, get anestimate and they would take care of it. I took my car t Central Autobody in Waukegan Illinois. They emailed her the estimate. She said she never received it. A week later I took my car to Platinum autodody in Lake Villa Illinois. The damage to my car was in the front on the passenger side, but after the car was hit, the passengerside air bag light started to come on intermittently. I alerted the body shop. After they fixed the cosmetic work, the insurance company informed me and the shop they would not pay for the airbag sensor since it was an older car ( I have a 2005 Buick Lacross) and that the light was probably already n. She then asked me to pay half, I said no. After passing a few words, she called the autobody shop and said the Insurance co. would not pay for it. I told [redacted] I had not yet received a check from them to pay for my car. Her response was I sent it. I said I cannot pay for my car without a check. She then called Enterprise and stopped the payment of the rental. At this point I have a rental car that I cannot pay for and I cannot get my car because I have no check to pay for the almost $2000 worth of damage. I have been getting the run around from this lady and this company from day 1.Desired Settlement: I would like to have my car repaired to be in the exact condition it was in before it was hit, I'd like the rental car covered like she said they would do. I would like to not have to come out of pocet for an accident that happened when my car was parked minding its own business.

Germantonw mutual provides auto liability insurance for [redacted]. Ms [redacted] backed into the complainant, Ms [redacted] auto on 9-8-2013. The claim was called into our office by Ms [redacted]. We agreed to pay for the damages to Ms [redacted] auto. We paid her body shop, Platinum, directly. We paid Platinum $1,816.00 for the repairs. The repairs were completed on friday 9-20-2013. Ms [redacted] did not pick up her car on friday 9-20-2013. Germantown agreed to pay the rental expense through friday 9-20-2013. Ms [redacted] claims a air bag sensor was damaged as result of this accident. We contacted the mechanic, [redacted] with Platinum Collision. [redacted] tells us the air bag sensor was tested and the P code examined. The result of this test indicated the sensor was experiencing a history of malfunction and this was not related to the accident. We advised ms [redacted] we would not pay for the sensor repair. We believe ms [redacted] has been fully compensated for her damages.

Review: ON AUGUST 7TH I HAD SEVERE DAMAGE TO MY HOME FROM A HORIFFIC STORM/ HIGH WINDS/TORNADO, AS ALL THE HOMES IN THE AREA. TEARING PARTS OF THE ROOF OFF, WINDOWS ETC.

CALLING IN THE CLAIM SEEMED TO BE A NO BRAINER....EVERY HOUSE AROUND ME HAD SEVERE DAMAGE AND THE STREETS WERE COVERED IN DEBRIS POWERLINES WERE DOWN...NO POWER FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THE AGENT FROM GERMANTOWN CAME OUT THAT FOLLOWING MONDAY MORNING. WAS HERE FOR A TOTAL OF 10 MINS....ASKED FOR THE PICTURES TO BE SENT TO HIM OFF THE CAMERA OF OUR LOSSES ETC. NOT TWO HOURS LATER RECIEVED A SETTLEMENT NOTICE.... BEFORE EVEN GETTIN ESTIMATES....ALL THE LOSSES ETC THAT WAS REDICULOUS. WE THEN HIRED A PUBLIC ADJUSTOR. HIS ESTIMATE WAS ALMOST 30,000.00 WORTH OF DAMAGE ALONG WITH THE ESTIMATES OF TWO OTHER COMPANIES. WE RECEIVED A CHECK FROM GERMANTOWN FOR 1447.08. TO REPLACE THE PARTS THAT WERE DAMMAGED???? HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN?? HOW DO YOU REPLACE PART OF A ROOF AND HAVE IT LOOK OK?? WHAT ABOUT THE INSULATION THAT GOT WET( GERMANTOWN NEVER EVEN CHECKED THAT). WHAT ABOUT THE DAMAGED PERSONAL PROPERTY? APARENTLY A CHECK.....ALMOST TWO MONTHS LATER HAS BEEN CUT FOR 2000.00 FOR PERSONAL PROPERTY...THAT WE HAVENT SEEN YET.

I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY DONT HONOR MY POLICY... AND CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS? I HAVE REPLACEMENT COVERAGE. NOT PATCH IT UP COVERAGE? THIS IS AN INSULT AND POOR PRACTICE. WEVE HAD THE PUBLIC ADJUSTOR TELL US HES NEVER EVER SEEN SUCH POOR BUSSINESS PRACTICE...AND BAD FAITH. WE ARE STILL FIGHTING TO GET THE DAMAGE REPAIRED. GERMANTOWN HAD BREECHED THE CONTRACT. I HAVE HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE TO COVER THESE DISASTERS.... EVERY HOME AROUND ME HAD SEVERE DAMMAGE. NO PROBLEMS WITH REPAIRS... IT WAS CLEARLY A TERRIBLE STORM. THEIR MAKING OUT AS IF I WENT UP AND TORE THE ROOF APART......TORE DOWN THE TREES AND SHRUBS, ETC...

IN 2010 I HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH A CLAIM. EVERYBODY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD HAD HAIL DAMAGE AND GOT NEW ROOFS SIDING ETC. BUT ONLY A PART OF "MY" ROOF HAD DAMAGE? AGAIN....HOW DO YOU REPLACE "PART" OF A ROOF AND HAVE IT LOOK OK? I DIDNT KNOW ANY BETTER THEN...GOT PATCHED WHAT I COULD...KEEPING IT IN TACT. THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THE ROOF WAS AT ITS END OF LIFE ANYHOW.... SOOO? IT WAS IN TACT AND LOOKED FINE.... 2012 GOOGLE PIC TO PROVE THAT. I HAVE INSURANCE FOR REPLACEMENT.... I EXPECT TO HAVE THE REPAIRS DONE CORRECTLY. NOT A PATCH JOB.

HONESTLY.....WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF CORRECTLY? I HAVE TARPS COVERING MY ROOF AND I NEED TO GET THE REPAIRS DONE. THINGS HAVENT BEEN HANDLED IN A TIMELY MATTER..... THE AGENT FROM GERMANTOWN HASNT BEEN COOPERATIVE WITH THE AJUSTOR WE HIRED. NOT RETURNING CALLS ETC. WE WENT TO HIS SUPERVISOR AND GOT THE SAME TREATMENT. NOW...TALKING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE CO. AND HE WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT- CLAIMING HIS EMPLOYEES KNOW WHAT THEIR DOING AND CAN HANDLE THE JOB WITHOUT HIS INVOLEMENT. IM VERY UNHAPPY AND FEEL IM BEING SCREWED.Desired Settlement: PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF DAMMAGE PROPERTY. AS I HAVE IN OUR POLICY AGREEMENT.....# [redacted]

Review: On initial contact their adjuster swore at my wife.I turned him into his boss & not only was he left on my claim but added to another.

He then had an outside contractor/engineer deny damage from hail to my home.

My entire neighborhood was pummeled with hail.I had holes over 2" around in my roof.

Also a subsequent wind storm blew hail damaged shingles off my roof causing severe water damage to my homes interior.

The contractor this man had bid the work for pricing was so low two other contractors and the one who gave the low bid would not/could not do the work for this price.

I strongly believe this adjuster is going out of his way to cause me problems as a direct result from my turning him in for inappropriate behavior.Desired Settlement: I want my home to be repaired from hail/wind damage.The underbid work I cannot find a contractor to do for such a low price should have been performed within 72 hrs.That is a long way off from aug 7 to now.It is in no way shape or form fair to have a man I turned in for inappropriate behavior still in charge of my claim.I have been nothing but honest with germantown mutual insurance but already have spent more than five times my deductible to make repairs that should have been covered.
