Review: I called Village Plumbing & Heating on 10/**/13 to have them install an AO Smith replacement water heater. My old AO water heater was starting to leak. I told them that I wanted an AO Smith 50 gallon heater that was Energy Star rated. The representative told me that yes they had a model and could replace my old heater on Monday 10/**/13 if someone was available. I told them my wife is available on Monday. An hour later on Saturday, I called them again to make sure that I would be getting an AO Smith 50 gallon ,energy rated water heater. The representative told me yes. When I returned home Monday night I inspected the water heater and did not notice any energy star stickers. I went to register the water heater on the AO Smith web-site and when I looked at the model description XCV 50 300 it was not energy star rated. I called the company the next day and told the same representative that the heater they installed was not energy star rated. The same phone representative told me that the heater is energy efficient but that I would not be getting any energy rebates with that model. I told him that I was not looking for an energy rebate. I had wanted an energy star rated model. The representative admitted he did not know what that meant and put the service manager on. The service manager (a woman) told me that they selected that model to replace the one that I had which was not energy star rated. I told her that I can choose what model I want and my old model has nothing to do with it. I told her that apparently the phone representative did not know what energy star rated meant and did not explain to me that it would involve other installation options , and additional cost to have them install an energy star rated model. I told her that her employee misrepresented what they were installing because he did not know what energy star rated meant and I would file a complaint with the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: I would like them to give me a discounted price of $200 on that water heater because that at a minimum would be what I would expect to get in energy savings over the life of the product.

On Oct ** 2013 [redacted] called my office to ask for a price of a new 50 gallon A.O.Smith gas hot water heater, He had a conventional hot water heater that is vented up through the chimney.

He asked me if we had a Energy EFficient hot water heaters....I assured him that all the hot water heaters we use are energy efficient.

I gave him the cost.....$ 1350.00 NO TAX and we installed the heater on Oct ** 2013. Job was done correctly and tested and [redacted] paid us and said ...Thank You.

He called us later that day to me sure he was getting an Energy rated heater....,as you can see from his comments to you,...and I again assured him that the heater is energy efficiently rated.

Soon after the installation he called me to say that he asked for an Energy Star rated hot water heater . First of all......if had asked me for an Energy Star Rated heater I would have explained that the heater he now has is a conventionally vented hot water heater which goes into and up the chimney.......and an Energy Star Rated heater has to be vented out the side of the builing,which would make this installation considerally more expensive and that we would also first have to come see the installation to see if would be possible to do this in his house.........and give him a price to do the job.

It seems to me that there could have been a miscommunication between me and [redacted] on the phone. And for that reason I am willing to refund the 200,00 he requests . I just hope that [redacted] realizes that what he asked for would have cost him at least twice the price of a conventional heater.......assuming it could have been at all.

I will send him a refund check of 200,00 today..........along with a copy of this letter.
