Ghassan Automotive Reviews (%countItem)

I would not recommend purchasing anything from Ghassan Automotive. If you ever have issues with an engine purchased from them you will have a very hard time getting them to warranty it, that's if they even do. They push blame to anyone one else that has touched the engine and won't admit when they are at fault. I would not recommend purchasing an engine from them and instead invest a little more on a quality engine with quality customer service.

I have decided to post this horrible experience and review on the BMW forums so that other members do not make the same mistake I did by going with these guys for an engine rebuild!! You can find negative info on the owner on google along with honest bad experiences and claims filed against them!

HORRENDOUS Experience!!! Do not believe the good reviews!!! I would have used Pure Performance TX!

First, let me begin by stating I have no idea where this guy gets his positive reviews, as seen on other negative reviews everyone seems to claim similar things. Must be written by friends or family. I will try to make this short as possible. On October 11th of 2019 I unfortunately decided to wire $12,000 to Ghassan Automotive and was told by front desk manager (Zoey) I would have a new engine in 2-4 weeks. She actively tells me about the bad state the company is in currently, shortly after several office managers walked out on Ghassan. On November 22nd, 2019 I finally had received an engine at my credible German car Shoppe who would soon begin the install. Shortly after I was notified of missing timing cover bolts (not a huge issue). A few days later the engine is installed, and my shop cannot get the car to stop misfiring nor have any boost. Turns out the camphasers were installed completely incorrect and backwards! Ghassan owns up to his mistakes and has the car & engine shipped to his shop to correct. I was told I would have the car back in less than 2 weeks as it would be a “priority”. The car arrived to them December 16th and I received it back January 8th. Upon receiving the car, I started getting check engine lights within the first 200 miles for the car running lean, running rich etc.…It is continuously at the BMW dealership trying to get this resolved. Upon the car being inspected they notice the entire radiator support is disconnected along with the core support bracket un attached and all missing bolts. Literally the entire underbelly of the engine is moveable! BMW had thought the car had been in a front end-collision. After practically harassing and getting into a pissing match with Ghassan he agrees to pay for half of the cost $600. Two weeks later I have the car back into BMW for rich codes and lean codes popping up consistently, several diagnosis fees ($189) later BMW discovers the downpipes not being seated correctly causing a huge air leak. I was not surprised by this as the car was having an extremely gassy smell along with very reduced power. I have put approximately 1,000 miles on the car since receiving it back from Ghassan Automotive. It has been non-stop battles with the guy to cover what he has touched. But again, he is sure to mentioned he didn’t touch anything. It has been non-stop issues arising since getting the car back. If I could look back, I would have never gone with this company!! Mentions he has just under 10 claims against him…that is in two years of being in business my friend. That is not good or a small business. Nonetheless Ghassan is a scammer!! If he isn’t a scammer then he sure runs a horrendous business. At this point I have thrown in the towel. This guy is your worst nightmare. I have worked diligently and respectfully with them for so long. It was all a nightmare the moment I received an incorrectly built engine to my shop. If you have any questions about my horrific experience with this shop you are more than welcome to reach out to me.
Below you can see all the additional cost I have had to put into my car after receiving it from Ghassan. Absolutely Ridiculous! Lesson learned, if I could have gone back, I would have gone with PURE PERFORMANCE TX. Messaged the guy over Instagram, super solid guy and great work.

-Ghassan claims he is not liable due to these issues not being a “Warranty item”
-Blames my shop who I have used for 5+ years and has been in business for 12+ years for the exhaust not being installed correctly or brackets mounted. If the car happened to even come to you with things missing, why wouldn’t you mention this to the customer, Ghassan? Pretty extensive list of things...
-Their own office manager texted me two weeks ago about their bad business practices and implementing a way to reduce their issues and cost as it takes up “majority of her time”
-Have all screenshots of text communication, pictures of car being worked at my shop and Ghassan shop. My Shops technicians have all picture proof of the car being worked on daily.

Alignment $135 , Missing rivets $30 , missing engine M cover $250, Missing splash guard $225, Exhaust not connected $1460, Radiator core support $600 and metal brackets not attached

I purchased a supposedly rebuilt engine from this business. Upon receipt, it was evident that the engine was a used engine not a rebuilt one given the damage it had. Pictures were taken. The installation of the engine was performed by a certified BMW technician with over 10 years experience and it was nothing but one issue after the other with parts being replaced and diagnostic tests due to malfunctions. After less than 4K miles the engine failed and needs to be replaced. Communication with the owner, ***, is frustrating because of the excuses and deflections. I did a search online and found multiple people who suffered the same exact fate as I did. This business is running a scam. The engines are clearly not rebuilt, as the evidence on mine show, and also because it takes weeks for them to ship an engine which clearly indicates *** is looking for one. If they were rebuilt, they would be readily available in stock to be shipped in a matter of a day or two.
I gave *** two options to resolve this matter. Send me another engine, free of charge and pay for the labor to remove the defective one and install the second one, or send me a check for the current market value of my SUV with a good engine, since trading it in with the defective engine I stand to lose over 5K.
After another week of no responses, I find out that *** was arrested and charged with misdemeanor charges of soliciting prostitution and making obscene electronic communications and a felony count of unlawful access to a computer to violate Oklahoma statutes. I realize I may never see a resolution to my problem, but an severe alert should be placed on this business and this individual to hopefully prevent others from suffering the same fate.

Ghassan Automotive Response • Oct 22, 2019

Hello sir, we are sorry you are having trouble with your vehicle. The engine you purchased from us is a rebuilt engine as we do not have any other options to sell you. You and your shop received the engine, installed it and only then contacted us to complain about an engine accessory that is not included in our warranty. Our business is clearly not a scam, we have sold over a thousand rebuilt engines with 99.99%+ success rate, we try to keep engines in stock but with demands of over 40+ engines a month, we do run out of stock occasionally. When issues arise, we do our best to take care of them. Unfortunately we are not able to help you here due to your outlandish demands. You have had a failure in a rebuilt engine within 4000 miles but would not allow an inspection and only given a false diagnosis, we are more than happy to warranty the engine per our warranty and go beyond that by covering shipping costs as well as wave the deductible. If this cannot satisfy you then unfortunately we cannot help. This could be just a false claim to illegally gain monies, this is why we need to follow due and fair process. As for the charges brought up against ***, here is the official response "This accusation against me is entirely bogus and false. The claimed evidence can easily be fabricated (picture of a phone with messages and no username or phone number on the screen and a picture of me on an airplane). We suspect that a previous employee started this in retaliation to being terminated. I am very heartbroken by the police department for not contacting me for all the pertinent details before running with this story. It has caused a tremendous amount of grief based on little to no evidence that can easily be fabricated."

You were notified of the engine condition as soon as it was received and pictures were taken and sent to you. During the installation process, other damage was found and again you were notified via email. I have all the email communication. The condition the engine was in when received clearly showed the engine was not a rebuilt engine but a used one. I informed you this morning that I signed papers with my attorney to file a lawsuit in your local court. given the evidence I have of the engine I received from you and the email communication informing you of the issues as they occurred and your responses, my attorney feels extremely confident that you will lose this case in court.

I've provided you with the options I am willing to accept to resolve this issue.

We apologize that our response did meet your expectations, we are trying our best to resolve this matter and help you, but we cannot do anything with out proper inspection and proper process. Please allow us to follow our warranty agreement, we have already made several exceptions to help make this easier for you. Please advise and thank you.

I purchased a remanufactured BMW engine from Ghassan Automotive on Feb, 5, 2019. Ghassan required all funds be made via a bank wire. A $1500 core charge fee was accessed at the time of the transaction for the core engine to be returned, which it was. The core engine was a running engine that was inspected by a BMW tech as it was removed from the vehicle (and replaced with the remanufactured engine). The core was shipped back to Ghassan as required. To this date (5/3/19), I have emailed, phoned, sent texts, and called Ghassan (and his shop manager ***) about returning my core charge and have not received any refund. Ghassan at one point has alleged the crank on the core is not rebuildable, however this was a running engine and by "core" standards, is more than sufficient as a core (as many that I have already consulted agree). I have been patient with his requests to contact me " in a week" over and over, but it is obvious this needs to be escalated as I have not received my core back. There have been excuses about moving shops, but the companies social media displays plenty of time to be out racing the company vehicle at various locations. This is an unethical business practice and reflects poorly the company.

This complaint was resolved with Mr.. The core charge requires that the core is in rebuildable condtion (stated on the invoice), the core was not rebuildable due to microcrack to the crackshaft ($2000+ to replace) Mr. was in touch with us and we've always returned phonecalls/emails/texts within 24-48 business hours. We informed Mr. that his core was bad, we requested that he gives us time to offer our help towards his core.

Complaint: ***

I am neither rejecting or accepting this response because: I have received a partial refund of $750 core charge (out of the $1500) back from Ghassan Automotive. I was supplied a photo of the broken crankshaft that was allegedly mine, however, this was not my actual crankshaft. When questioned, Ghassan agreed it was a different crank and he would try and find mine (still havent seen it so I cannot verify mine is actually bad or broken after being reworked by them).

I'm also concerned about Ghassan Automotive's business practices on obtaining business ratings. They often hold engine giveaways where consumers can buy a decal to enter the raffle. The customers are instructed to make a positive review of the company so their ratings may not be accurate and misleading (I certainly based my decision to purchase based on their ratings).

I do wish to close this matter but I felt some additional points needed to be expressed. I still have not seen my actual crankshaft and I cant help to wonder how many previous customers have only received no or a partial refund on their core charges back.

Sincerely,

***e

We agreed to have work done within a set period and it was months later with him claiming electrical issues.
There was no agreement on a revised quote, he spent time replacing parts that did not even end up fixing the problem.
Putting my stock parts back on and resetting adaptions fixed most of the problems.
My car was sent in with nothing but a tire pressure system system light.
5300 Quote was for a rebuild install shipping and a few aftermarket upgrades that where never installed, which where also not sent back with the car.
He tries to charge me 8000 for the repairs but I told him im on a plane in 3 days with 7k cash and it better be fixed.
I arrive he shows the car drive it around and it seems ok. I signed a receipt with warranty for 2 years on motor.
Upon drive home I realize no ac, making turns at a stop it would make a clunk sound - diagnosed and found out steering rack was not torqued right. (safety issue)
At only a 1000 mile ride home, car is saying add a quart of oil already. Checked for leaks found out the fuel rail was not bolted back onto engine and the valve cover had 3 bolts not even tightened.
I asked him and he said fuel rail bolts are not required. I torqued the valve cover bolts to spec and that fixed the leak.
6800 miles later (~4 months) driving slow and carefully on a icy road on feb 10th car started knocking. I instantly pulled over called him and he said he would take it.
He picked it up 2 days later and it has been at his shop since.
At first he said he will take care of it under warranty.
2 months go by delaying when he is going to work on it
then decides to get a oil analysis to find out cause.
Finds out month later there is fuel in the oil and it is diluted that caused excessive wear.
Now he is refusing to work on the car unless the oil company or I pay him since he claims it was injectors which are brand new.
There are other people actively suing him right now over same issues, except theres did not last past the test drive.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:
Blantent lies about condition of the car, I have all the pictures and text messages and recorded phone calls to prove the lies. I sent my car to him he said 3 weeks took 3 months. The car was not damaged because of my diagnoses. I removed the valve cover and drained oil was the only things removed from the car. I checked that there was not a broken timing chain or cam locked up and seen it was in lower engine and then talked to ghassan because I was referred to him. He said put the cover back on and put everything in bags and push car on the truck. All which I did.He recieved the car let it sit for 2 months lied about it being in the machine shop then days later telling me he just removed the engine. The whole time it was lies. Then he tells me there is electric issues and I told him how to diagnose the issues after he tried just replacing the parts and that was not the problem it was simple adaption issues. Then on the quote he was supposed to install suspension parts and install a oil cooler to keep the oil from thinning. He did not do that and instead went from 5300 roughly with additional labor quoted and parts to saying I'm not doing those parts and car is not running right and I'm at 8k dollars now with no agreement or approval to do the work. I sent him a car with a locked engine from lack of oil on bearing to getting a car back with same bad suspension and not fully put back together with electrical issues that he caused while working on the car. I am not the only one right now he is being sued for nearly the same thing. I refused to pay him 2k more then what is agreed upon in the warranty paper work so he refused to work on my car so I told my lien holder to pick up the car. The engine did not even last 6 months and the oil did not have 3k miles on it. There is a issue on the inside of the engine and he refuses to diagnose it to find out what actually caused the engine to fail. There is no proof it was my oil he sent out. There is 7 cases of blown engines from him right now that I know of. People where messaging me on the forum telling me about similar situations to what I have had. So to sum it up, he tried to charge me for work that was never done. The same codes he sent me early on after the engine was reinstalled where the same codes that he sent me the day before I came down to pick up the car. I told him just because I'm far away does not mean he can lie and try to charge me more. He tried to charge me 8200 dollars I refused and still had the same codes as the day he installed the engine. It was a simple adaption and reset the ecu issue that bmws have. He is supposed to be a BMW engine rebuilding shop but does not have the certificates to even do that. I should have researched him alot more before I sent the car to him. I am trying to get him to realize he is not an expert like he claims and trying to keep. Him from screwing over other customers. The other guy that is suing him atm had the car engine blew he gave it back claimed exact same thing engine oil. Diluted with fuel, he paid a couple more grand over what's on the paper work. He came back and it blew up again on the test drive and he is trying to blame the same thing again. I am trying to avoid going to court and just have him give a refund on the original 7000 for the faulty engine repair and refusing his own warranty. I had several hundred dollars in parts and labor fixing what he messed up the first time around. Ac was not hooked up, fuel rail not bolted on, valve cover bolts not tight so was leaking oil all the way home. Pcv valve which was brand new was broken on reinstall action, steering rack was not tight. If you need any proof let me know have all the proof you could need.
Sincerely

Ghassan Automotive Response • Jun 21, 2018

The condition of the car was presented to Mr.
truthfully and transparently. The car was damaged as Mr. was not qualified to work on the vehicle and forgot very major steps like disconnecting the battery to help protect the electrical components of the vehicle (fried the fuse box)or using the proper tools(stripping bolts, like the camshaft ledge bolts.) no service that was paid for was not performed.Ghassan automotive has actually done a lot of work that was not paid for by Mr. due to him
threatening to leave the vehicle for the bank to pick up, again the engine failed
because of fuel contaminating the engine oil. Mr *** knew his injectors were bad and
replaced them but failed to replace the oil and drove on it for over 3000 miles. We have the lab analysis showing fuel in the oil and we have taken apart the engine, when we contacted Mr. to show him the damage she said he is not interested in our findings and to not bother continuing the claim with the oil manufacturing company that he originallyasked us to contact to
start a claim.Mr *** was offered to send his own party to collect a sample of oil from the engine itself as it still had some oil in it and from the 5 quart oil container that I still have
set aside.Mr. claims we have 7 cases of "blown· engines against us,this is not true as we
have not had 7 claims against us since we started our business, we have rebuilt over 200 engines to this date.To sum this up, unfortunately we will not be able to continue this matter with Mr.as he has no claim to the vehicle anymore as it has been repossessed by GM Financial and they are the new owners of the vehicle. GM financial has provided withstand indemnity agreement against all claims on the vehicle once we release the vehicle to GM financial or their authorized agent, I will attach a copy of the paperwork
provided by GM financial.
