Review: Friday,March 22nd I was contacted by [redacted] which informed me that she needed to meet with me in regards to the location of my father([redacted])burial plot location.I initially called Lloyd Memorial (the company in which I order a head stone) to follow-up in regards to the headstone order I had purchased on February 12, 2014.As a result of my inquiry, I was informed that I needed to contact the cemetery Director in regards to the marking out of the plot/headstone location. I immediately proceeded to return [redacted]'s call on the same day (which was Monday,Mar 24th) to discuss the same.At which time,I was notified that the grave digging contractor had been probing for the vault twice. She then stated she wanted to make sure that I could verify the location. We then met on Mar 28,2014 @ 3p.m.,at the cemetery which is located on Upper King Rd. Dover (Directly next to DE State Police Communication Troop 3) Upon my meeting with her, there was no certainty to the location of the vault, as I did not agree to what I was told, nor could she for certain. She then proceeded to probe herself and didn't locate the vault as well. She then located a vault in the children section; however, I know for certain that my adult father could not have been buried there. I immediately left distraught and went and got my close friend who also agreed with me that he was not located in the kid area that she found and marked the unmarked vault. She was still at the cemetery trying to probe herself to continue to locate his direct location of the vault. She even tried to convince me to just place the headstone and state the vault was in a location that I know for certain he isn't in. The Morticians(Minus Funeral Home)stated that [redacted]d even contacted them in regards to any information they may have on his location. My complaint is mainly because of the unethical care of my father's vault location. During a time of my bereavement which I entrusted the final care to this company. I request immediate resolution.Desired Settlement: I would like to obtain the official plot coordinates; as well as the burial permit. I would also like to receive a official non-removable wooden marker on the plot area until Lloyd Memorial has had the proper time to place the official headstone. So that no further heartache will be felt by myself/my family. If she cannot seem to provide me with the proper documentation....I would like to be fully reimbursed for the cost of the headstone, which is $550; as I can provide her with a receipt.

Response:

[redacted]'s request for Gibbs Memorial to reimburse her cost of$550.00 for a headstone purchased from Lloyd Memorial is unfounded.

[redacted] contacted Lloyd Memorial to place an order for the creation and placement of a headstone for her late father, [redacted]'s grave site which is located in section 1-4 of Gibbs Memorial Gardens, cemetery.

On February 17, 2014, I was contacted by Lloyd Memorial who requested an official marking of the grave site of [redacted] for a headstone placement. Lloyd Memorial contacted us as they had been contracted by [redacted] to deliver/place a headstone on the grave of her late father, [redacted]. Lloyd Memorial is fully aware of this procedure as they must get prior authorization and the grave site coordinates from me prior to the delivery/placement of any headstone. The gravesite could not be marked for a period of several weeks due to inclement weather as there was still snow and ice on the cemetery grounds.

On March 22, 2014 when the weather cleared, I contacted [redacted] so that I could schedule our March 28, 2014 meeting with her personally to mark the grave site in preparation for the delivery/placement of her father's headstone. I don't normally meet with family members to mark the grave site however I wanted to meet with [redacted] personally as we haven't heard from her or her family members since April2009 (see enclosed April23, 2014 response to [redacted]'s first letter).

During our March 28, 2014 two hour meeting at Gibbs Memorial Gardens, [redacted], would not accept that her family member was located at section 1-4 and based her rejection of the grave site location on her 2009 memory of her late father's day of bw:ial. I assured [redacted] that her father was buried at location 1-4 as my late husband, recorded the burial location ofl-4 the day of her father's 2009 burial. I even showed [redacted] our records as verification. However, [redacted] still insists that her 5 year old memory is superior to our burial records (see enclosed May 22,2014 response to [redacted]'s May 11, 2014 letter).

As for the $550.00 headstone purchased by [redacted] from Lloyd Memorial, Gibbs Memorial Gardens did not make the request for the creation of the headstone and nor did we make a promise to make payment to Lloyd Memorial.

As a result, we do not owe [redacted] any reimbursement for her $550.00 cost as the transaction was made directly between [redacted] and Lloyd Memorial with no prior knowledge by Gibbs Memorial Gardens
