Gibson County Municipal Water District Reviews (1)

I own a house that we have been remodeling for months now. We turned the water on at the residence in February 2014 with a $30 deposit. The first bill was for $14 in March. We did not receive a bill in April. In may we received a bill for $18 and $195 past due amount. When called the company said "well we checked it twice so you will have to pay it." Upper management said they would investigate. I explained the house is being remodeled, there have not been any major leaks, and no one lives there. How can a bill be $14, $195 then $18. It is not possible. When they "investigated" he said its accurate, called me a liar that the house is being remodeled- saying he can't be sure. He also told me that people who lived there before owed a big bill and the house is notorious for leaks. I have owned this house since 2011 and have never had trouble with leaks. The majority of the remodeling that required water was done in February when the water was turned on. The were rude, unprofessional and gave out private information regarding previous customers of theirs. I was told to pay it or it would affect my credit.Product_Or_Service: WaterDesired SettlementI feel I should not have to pay a bill we did not make. No one lives there and there was no leaks. I feel the bill should reflect our other two bills. We were not given a bill for the month the $195 charge occurred. I don't feel I owe this money. The way they handled it was very inappropriate. Threatening to ruin someone's credit is inappropriate. I would be willing to pay up to $30, which was the amount of our deposit- twice what the first bill was. I should not have to pay they entire 195.Business Response Trenton Light & Water Department only serves the city limits of Trenton, TN (Gibson County). The consumer's complaint is for an address in Alamo, TN (Crockett County). You (and he)have the wrong utility. Final Business Response We're sorry that Mr. [redacted] did not get the results he was demanding, but there was no justification in giving him credit for water that went through his meter. Our meter reader made a note with his reading the month Mr. [redacted] had the large usage that someone had turned the water off at the meter which indicated there was a problem at the house. The following two months the readings went back to low numbers which indicate the leak was repaired during the time it was turned off. Mr. [redacted] stated that he owned the house since 2011 and had no problems with leaks. Our records show that two other families have lived in this house since 2011. One family by name other than [redacted] lived at this house from 10-3-11 thru 8-1-12. Another family also not [redacted] put the water in their name 8-3-13 thru 8-29-13, could be same family just changed names. I have met the prior tenants because we had turned the water off 8-1-12 and put a lock on the meter. Two days later, we found people living in the house and they had cut the lock off the meter and were using the water for free. I had to go out and talk to them about cutting the lock and they told me about the problems with leaks in the plumbing. These people came to the office and put the water in their name that same day. It is not true that Mr. [redacted] was called a liar. When I told him about what our employee had observed while reading his meter, Mr. [redacted] stated " well I guess you're calling me a liar". I said I'm not calling you anything, I'm just telling you the facts we know. In regards to anyone threaten to ruin his credit, Mr. [redacted] was informed, after all of his ruckus about not paying, that all non- paid accounts get turned over for collections after a certain period of time. If Mr. [redacted] will pay his past due balance of $215.29, we're gladly reinstate his service if he wants it. We would welcome a representative from the Revdex.com visit our location and review all the details of this account and interview any of the employees involved.
