Giggles & Glam Reviews (%countItem)

Hi! I had my 10 year olds birthday party here. We paid for the spa day theme which was $450. There advertisment for this party on there page is nothing what the actually party is. They didn't do half of what was said that was going to be done at the party, the party hosts were young girls who had no personality or social skills for kids at all, and when I asked To speak to a manage the manager could care less about the issues I was Having. She literally told me the nail polish they used 'sucked? anyways, because the nails and toes that the young girls painted were horrible, it was all over there hands and feet, and hardly any of the toe and nail area was even painted. After paying $450 and having so many issues I felt Some kind of discount Atleast would've been considered but instead they ask me for a tip! I drove 45 mins to give my daughter the best 10 year old birthday party and it was the worst service I've ever had.
Product_Or_Service: Spa day party

Desired Outcome

Refund I think at this point a refund would be reasonable. This was the worst birthday party experience I've ever had. It was definitely not worth $450. That's a lot of money in my book.

On July 22, Ms. booked a Splendid Spa Birthday Party package at Giggles & Glam Salon. She was told that she would need to pay a $75 deposit to hold her spot. She said that she would pay the deposit on July 30th when she got paid. She also asked about purchasing invitations from us and wanted to add them on. She indicated that she wanted 9 custom invitations and we prepared them for her to come pick up. The salon manager called her on July 30th to collect the deposit and there was no answer. She left her a voice mail. The salon manager as well as the party manager called and emailed her almost daily until finally on August 4th (13 days later) an email was sent (see attached) that indicated that her party would be cancelled due to lack of deposit payment. She then called on August 5th to pay her deposit over the phone with a credit card. At that time she also indicated that she "changed her mind" and didn't want the invitations anymore after they had already been customized and printed for her.

On August 22, the day of the party, I was at the salon working so I witnessed first-hand all of the events. About 1 hour into her scheduled 2 hour party, Ms. asked to speak to a manager. The party manager came to her and asked her if there was anything wrong. Ms. complained that she was unsatisfied at the way some of the party attendee's nails were painted sloppily. She also complained that she was unsatisfied with the 3 party attendants who were running the party. Indicating that they were not engaging with the children. The party manager offered to immediately repaint all of the children's finger and toe nails and did explain to her that the polish they chose was too sticky and clumpy to provide a nice finished product. She apologized and explained that we should not have had that polish available to begin with and again offered to repaint everyone's nails immediately and also offered her an extra 30 minutes of time in the party room. Ms. categorically refused the re-polish on the children. The party manager then brought all of the party attendants into the break room and reminded them to be as fun and engaging with the children as possible as there was at least an hour and a half left of the event. The party attendants went back in and set up the karaoke machine and they were all singing and dancing the remainder of the event. You could hear the very loud music and singing and laughing all the way to the front of the salon. At one point I had to go into the party room and ask them to turn down the music slightly because it was causing a disturbance in the salon. This indicated to me that the children were having fun and the party attendants were in fact doing what was requested of them. Singing and dancing along with all of the children. Our goal is always to make the birthday party child and her friends have a fun and memorable experience! After the party ended at 3pm, I was notified that all seemed to end well and Ms. even left a $10 tip for the party attendants. This is always a good indicator if the party went well and the parents were satisfied.

At around 5:00pm (2 hours after she left), I received a notification from *** that Ms. left a negative review on the Giggles & Glam salon *** page. Her complaint caught me off-guard considering that she was complaining of the very issues that we had addressed during her party and she refused to allow us to re-polish the fingernails. In her negative review she also complained that we did not do the chocolate facial with cucumbers. We explained to her at the beginning of the party that we would be substituting Watermelon scented sheet masks in lieu of the chocolate facial because of the new Covid guidelines. We are not allowed to cross-contaminate with facial applicator brushes therefore we have temporarily substituted with individually packaged sheet masks for our clients' safety.

This left me quite baffled, as to why wouldn't she have accepted the re-polishing of the nails at the time of the party? The party manager also indicated that since she did not want the nails re-polished that she could bring the children back in at a later date to have their nails polished for free in the salon. She seemed happy with this resolution.

Unbeknownst to Ms., we have done research via *** and found she had posted to her own personal *** page several photos of her daughters party at 6:30pm that very same day. Her post was titled "What better way to celebrate turning the big "10" than to have a spa day with your best girl friends! " with approximately 29 photos (see attached) as well as 3 videos of the children singing karaoke.

Comments posted by Ms. and others:

*** & *** just said awww , they're jealous..Hope that princess had a great time!!

***: awwhhh I could only do 10 people but they actually owe me some nails and toe redos Bc let's just say I was not impressed at all so y'all will have to come down one Saturday and we will take all the girls to get a mani and pedi!

***: oh girl no big deal but I'll take you up on a girls day!! Anytime !

***: well one day soon we can all go and it will be free haha kids an all!

*** Awe!

*** Thanks for the invites. They had a blast!

*** Cuteness overload!

*** We had SOOOOOOO MUCH FUN

*** Looks like fun!!

As evidenced from all of the photographs, video and comments, it is clear that all of the children received all of their services included in the spa party package as well as seeing the mood and smiles of the children indicating that they had an enjoyable experience.
On Tuesday, August 24th, I received an email from the local chapter of the Revdex.com notifying me of a formal complaint against Giggles & Glam Salon. Much to my surprise, it was from Ms. complaining of the exact same issues she left on the bad review on our *** page.
Upon evaluating all of the facts of this case, I can only assume Ms. only intent was to receive reduced or a free party due to her complaints. We take very seriously every complaint that comes in (although few and far between) and we make our very best efforts to correct every situation and make every customer happy. Unfortunately, however, once in a great while we do see customers of this caliber who seek to hurt, defame, embarrass and damage our reputation for no good reason other than they expected to receive free services. This is especially egregious on Ms. part due to the fact that most small business are still struggling during this pandemic. And to receive a totally unwarranted and slanderous review is absolutely unacceptable. It can almost be interpreted at extortion. I will be following up with our local police department to file a complaint on Ms. who is clearly trying to extort our small business in exchange for the removal of the bad review and Revdex.com complaint.

Customer Response • Aug 27, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
With the deposit usse, when I first called to get information regarding their parties. I told her I would call back to book it on my pay day, She said : I will go ahead and put you down just call back to pay the deposit". Yes I did take a little longer to call back but they couldve canceled the party considering I hadnt called and paid the deposit yet. When I called to pay the lady told that they do inviations and that I would need to call a week ahead to have them done on time, I never called and told them to make them. When they called me to confirm I did tell her I didnt end up needing the inviations, but I never ordered so if they made them thats on them. I was also told that I could arrive 30 mins early, when I arrived at 12;15 the party room wasnt ready yet, and I was never told that due to Covid they wouldnt be able to do the cucumber facials, because on July 23rd they did a cucmber facial on little girls, I seen it on there *** post. They also only emailed me twice regarding the party. ( documents attached below). Documents of my review are also attached, as I never slandered them. I left a bad review, because as an American im allowed to do just that. They also even sent me an email asking for a review after my party. Ive also been informed by the board of cosmetology that because I paid for these services ( make up, and nails) the girls doing those services were suppose to be licensed. TO my acknowledge they were not. I didnt expect a free party, or I wouldve never booked but a discount after the horrible customer service and services wouldve been the right thing to do. Also, of course the girls had fun, no 10 year old knows the value of a dollar, and what I paid for is not what I received. My 1o year old even stated " mom I couldve done a better job at our hair and nails than they did".

Giggles & Glam Response • Sep 01, 2020

This is clearly a case of buyer's remorse. Service based businesses determine pricing based on several factors. The spa party for example - 2 hour room rental, 3 Party Coordinators labor, one dozen cupcakes, 12 juice pouches, 12 bottled waters, party favors for each guest, group photos for each guest, makeup, hair products, nail polish, decorations including balloons and helium, birthday girl sash, and tiara, and paper goods, as well as all services performed on each child. Discounts are not offered based on all of the factors stated above. We offered the customer several resolutions to compensate for her dissatisfaction. She refused the re-polishing of the nails, but accepted the extra time in the party room (which our staff had to be paid to allow for the extra time spent hosting this party.) We feel as though this case has been addressed and resolved on our end. Thank you.
