Dear Revdex.com Conciliation & Engagement Specialist: We have received your letter, dated July 28, 2017, regarding the above referenced complaint, in which Mr*** states that one of our barbers damaged his gold rope chain and seeks a payment of $We appreciate the opportunity to respond to Mr
*** complaintThe Gilbert Barber and Beauty Shop is a family owned business that has been operating for more than yearsThe barber identified in Mr*** complaint has worked at the barbershop the majority of that time, starting around Until Mr*** complaint, we had never received a written charge against the barbershop or our barbersAlthough we regret that Mr.*** did not have a positive experience at our barbershop, we deny that our barber damaged his gold chainOn the day in question, Mr*** came to the barbershop during the lunch hour, and only one barber was thereBecause this barber regularly works only the lunch hour shift, he typically sees only 1-customers a shiftThis day was no different; Mr*** was one of a few customers who this barber saw that dayEach gentleman he saw that day, including Mr***, received a haircut, paid for the service with a tip, and thanked the barber for the serviceNone of the customers, including Mr.***, complained to the barber about poor service, a sharp pain in his neck, or damage to any jewelryWhen Mr*** later returned to the shop and told the owner that he thought the barber had damaged his chain, the barber already had left the barbershopHaving had an opportunity to examine the damaged necklace, the owner found it difficult to believe a barber tool could cause the damage in questionThe owner called the barber to give him and Mr*** to talk by phoneMr*** reported his belief to the barber as to what he believe had occurred (that he felt a pain in his neck while getting his hair cut, later noticed that his gold chain was cut, and surmised that the barber had cut the chain) The barber recalled the few customers he had seen that day and remembered that one of them was wearing a gold flat chain, as such the barber assumed he was speaking to the customer with a gold flat chain The barber told Mr*** that he recalled the necklace, but did not recall cutting it Although the barber was confident he had not cut the necklace, he was willing to pay for the repair in order to bring the issue to a close As such, he said he would repair to fix the gold flat chain that he recalled the customer wearing Mr*** thereafter came back to the barbershop with a receipt showing that $had been paid to repair a necklace The barber looked at the receipt and asked if could see the repaired necklace, at which point Mr*** showed the barber a gold rope chain Acknowledging immediately that the gold rope chain Mr*** was showing him was no the same gold flat chain that he recalled from the day in question, the barber did not feel it was fair or appropriate that he would be asked to pay for any cost to repair it When he advised Mr*** of his position, Mr*** became angry and vocal and was asked to leaveIn a good faith effort to get this matter resolved, we agree to provide the desired settlement payment of $ Please understand that this payment is not an admission of guilt or liability, as we stand by our position that our barber did not cause the damage to his chain Rather, this payment reflects our willingness to reach a resolution that will bring this matter to a close and allow the parties to move forwardWe prefer to send a check for $to the Revdex.com to provide to Mr*** Please advise us the name and address of the appropriate individual to receive this payment and we’ll promptly place it in the mail. Sincerely, The Gilbert Barber and Beauty Shop
