To Whom It May Concern: We contracted to re-build this chimney from the roof line up, as you can see on the attached estimateWe completed this work per their request in September All items on the contract were completed according to the contract were completedWe did
incur one day of weather delay but outside of this there were no delays other than the client asking us to do the job years after quoted, which was fine with usThe client called me after being invoiced for the remaining 50% and stated that she would not pay us unless we returned to do a chimney sweepWe did not contract to do this as you can see by looking at the contractI told her this and that we did not specialize in this area and it would be in her best interest to ask a company to do that who actually did it as a profession as we did notShe stated that Ben Giles, the owner said we would do it so instead of arguing with her we kindly gave her a discount of $off the total job cost and she agreed this was agreeable to herThen she contacted me months after the job was completed in January and stated that another contractor came and told her that we tried to patch a crack in a newly formed cap and that she had hired this contractor to do a crown coat and was charged $This was not the case, we fabricated and poured a brand new re-enforced cap and sealed it prior to leaving the jobsiteWith that being said, we again refunded her $via check, if you need proof of this which she stated made her satisfiedWe are unaware of any concerns at this point with this client that are un-resolved and even though both accusations were unfair and if she had called us to look at the crack we would have come out at no charge to take care of any concerns we now have given her $total off the original contract for non-contracted itemsPlease consider not publishing this complaint as we have resolved it directly with Ms*** ***Thank you for your time in this matter.Sincerely,Guinevere GilesOwner, Giles GB Construction LLC 518-209-

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID *** and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The roof installed by Giles was so poor, it needed to be replaced just nine months later. Attached are the roof inspector's report, the shingle test - showing that the shingles were not faulty, a letter sent to Giles and their attorney in July - which received no response and the receipt for the new roof installed. Giles refuses to accept responsibility for their faulty workmanship and will not issue a refund. Their offer of $3,of the $13,paid to them, is unacceptable. Giles is not trying to settle this, rather they are trying to absolve themselves of their responsibility for their inferior workmanshipNo homeowner wants to install a roof, have the shingles blow off all winter and spring, have visible nails everywhere on the roof, have water come in because the company replaced 2" drip edge with 1" and certainly does not want to pay for a second roof nine months later. I have now spent over $29,on two roofs, inspectors and attorney fees, for something that was supposed to cost $13,500.

We have made every effort to resolve this amicably with Ms*** Unfortunately she is unwilling to communicate outside of posting inaccurate information all over the internetWe would ask you please review the attachments and remove this complaint as we have worked tirelessly to accommodate
her wishes even when extending outside of contracted job scopeShe also has not paid the final balance on this contract and we still went above and beyond to help herWe would like to remain in good standing with the Revdex.com as we always have. Dear Lou Ann,         This is in response to a letter we received from you regarding our client [redacted]. We installed a new metal roof for her this July at her request, it was obvious she needed a new roof as she had tiles that we falling off the roof and...

interior damage to her living space. We provided a quote which she then contracted with us to proceed with. We installed the roof to manufacturer’s specifications.        Once we finished the project, she withheld final payment because she demanded we return after we finished everything in the contract to adjust metal over her front porch that she did not like the aesthetic look of and add snow breaks to the project scope which was not originally a part of it, the value of these would have been $657.00 in addition to her original contracted cost of $13,500. However we did this at no charge. On August 7th, we did a walk through with her and she confirmed with our foreman and myself (the owner) that the roof looked as she wished and all items had been completed to her satisfaction. She then paid the remaining balance.         On October 19th I received a call from a gentlemen claiming to be from [redacted]s who asked for a return call on our voicemail. I was under the impression since the number was out of town that they had called for sales purposes. Then on October 20th, we received another call from this man stating that if we did not return his call we would be sued over damages occurring at our client, [redacted]’s. I immediately emailed her directly and did not return the call to this person requesting she confirm that she did indeed have a leak and damage and if so what day could we come on site to review with her. We then set up an appointment on October 23rd, her first availability from work. At that time Ben Giles (co-owner), Guin Giles (co-owner) and [redacted] (forman) met with [redacted] and a friend named [redacted] who showed us the same interior damage that was there before we ever did the job and then took us outside to ask us to replace chimney flashing with a matching color chimney flashing as she wanted it to be the same color as her roof. We also determined her chimney has multiple cracks along the cap and flue and is in need of a mason’s repair. We agreed to replace the chimney flashing and she and [redacted] agreed this would be sufficient. We scheduled this for her next availability which was October 30th. [redacted] installed new matching pre-fabricated chimney flashing the same color as her roof and she and [redacted] agreed it was sufficient and thanked us for responding and resolving the issue.             At no time has she asked us for a full refund nor do we believe the interior damage was a result of our install as it was there prior to the roof ever being installed from past damage. We also asked why she waited 3 months between completion of the job and the time we received our first call to tell us about a leak. Typically a client calls us while the damage is occurring or leaks are entering. She also confirmed she did not see any further leaks at this time. We are requesting you please consider not publishing this claim from her publicly as it is not an accurate reflection of who we are as a company or the type of installation she received from our company. We greatly appreciate your consideration and would appreciate a response. We also have documented emails to confirm all of this if you would like copies.   Sincerely, Guinevere G. 1.  We offered to resolve her concerns and keep the warranty intact at no charge to her.2.  She agreed to allow us to replace the section that was problematic.  We have that documented via email. 3.  She violated a trademark name online and posted defamation of character under our trademarked name. 4.  Her husband contacted our insurance company under false pretense fraudulently. 5.  Very importantly. [redacted] and [redacted] is not a certified contractor with the material that was used to be installed on her roof, after being warned in writing that someone altering our original install would void her warrantee she chose to have them do this anyhow. 6. If she had chose to go the route of allowing us to continue a good relationship as well as her roof install and warranties she would not have had to spend another dollar. It is unfortunate that she chose to take a different route and defimate our character on  every major review site online and spend thousands of dollars for absolutely no reason.   We ask that the Revdex.com please resolve this matter as we have gone to great lengths to help her unfortunately she chose not to be helped in the situation.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.1. Giles did not offer to replace the roof, repair all the issues nor issue a complete refund.  Instead, their attorney attempted to absolve them of their own 5 year warranty.  Giles' claim of keeping their warranty intact at no charge makes no sense, as the contract states a 5 year warranty is included!2. Giles put a tarp on one section and stated they would re-shingle that section.  Yes, I agreed to that, however, Giles never scheduled a replacement of that section.   Please note that ALL sections of the roof were problematic, as the entire roof was installed in a faulty and defective manner.  See a sampling of pictures attached.3. Posting accurate and true online reviews is not defamation of character.  There is no evidence that Giles has any trademarks.4. This has nothing to do with me.  Complaining to the Revdex.com that someone contacted the insurance company is irrelevant.  The complaint is between myself and Giles. 5. [redacted] is a roof consultant firm hired to inspect the roof installed by Giles.  The report and pictures in the report clearly indicate a faulty and defective installation.  I received no warning about "altering the install".  An inspection of a roof does not void a warranty.  Giles does not honor their warranty anyway, as they installed the roof wrong and will still not take responsibility for it. 6. If Giles thinks informing them of issues with their roof installation is not "a good relationship" then they should have done quality work. In May I informed Giles of the issues with the roof and what they could do to remedy the situation  - none of which they did.  Writing accurate and truthful reviews is not defamation of character.  If Giles would like better reviews, then they should perform quality work.  At this point in time, if Giles issued a refund and I will gladly update the reviews. Please view the attached pictures of the roof Giles installed.  This is just a sampling of the dozens of pictures of the faulty installation of the roof by Giles.  In conclusion, I offered Giles, in May, the opportunity to fix the issues with the roof or issue a refund.  They did neither.  I agreed to let CertainTeed, the shingle manufacturer take shingles off the roof for testing.  Giles was present for this.  CertainTeed concluded the shingles were not defective.  Since the shingles were not defective, it was clearly the installation.  Giles would not take responsibility for their defective workmanship.  I had the roof inspected which further showed a defective installation.  Giles was given the opportunity to issue a refund, again, in July.  They nor their attorney responded.  Giles responded to the Attorney General (with an offer of a mere $3000) and to the Revdex.com (with no offer at all).  In September, Giles was again given the opportunity to work on a settlement, but again, neither Giles nor their attorney responded.  Giles states they are attempting to "resolve" this matter, but they will not issue a refund and will not respond to my or my attorney's attempts to work on a settlement.  We have been dealing with Giles and the roof issues because of their defective workmanship for 11 months now.  This matter still remains unresolved.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and the company has provided an inaccurate response.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I am disappointed that Guin would mislead the Revdex.com. We contacted Giles Construction in 2015 to have them do a couple of estimates. Ben Giles came and looked at our chimney in 2015 and told us that he would honor the estimate he had already done for us. This was his choice. We did not ask him to sweep the chimney, he offered and told us it was always part of the job. He again told us that they would back to sweep it and get it ready for use when he picked up the tools after the job. He even talked to me about how he would sweep it (with the gutter contractor included in the conversation). Ben also informed us that the work they would do to the chimney would fix it and have it ready for use. I am not a contractor and I relied on his expertise. If he did not know about sweep a chimney or the flue, he should have told us before the job, not have Guin tell us after the job. We paid more as a result and had to have a second company come out and take more time off from work to have the rest of the chimney repaired. As for the delay in Giles work, it was not caused by weather and instead was caused by a lack of communication with Giles Construction. We took a day off from work to be home while the work was being done. We were told the workers would be there first thing in the morning. They did not show up until the afternoon and then left to go get supplies. They came back with supplies later in the afternoon and told us that they would not start that day and could not come back the next day. We had been informed that the work we be done in two consecutive days. We could not get answers on when the workers would be back until late that night. This was very frustrating and inconvenient.  As for the crack, we were told by two different chimney companies that the cement mixture Giles Construction used, did not contain enough water, which caused it to crack and that Giles tried to fill it was a solution that would not prevent leaks. Giles did reimburse us for this repair to the crack, but it may not be a permanent repair. It is unfortunate that Guin has provided the Revdex.com with incorrect and misleading information. It is upsetting that she provided our account numbers and bank information to the Revdex.com. We ask the Revdex.com to redact our personal information when posting our complaint.
