Review: I used a CPA at Gilman & Ciocia to file my taxes for the past 7 years & on 2 occasions the CPA([redacted]) has made an error on my taxes. I must alternate with my ex-husband on claiming our son. I forgot in the past whether I am odd or even years. When I found out for sure that I am odd years, I went to [redacted] & told him so that he would not make a mistake again. He said he would make sure that he did not claim my son on my 2012 taxes & then efiled them for me. I went back about 2 weeks later to pick up actual taxes &, unfortunately, did not verify that he did it correctly. I found out this past Oct, when my ex tried to claim our son but was blocked because my taxes claimed him, that he in fact made the mistake for a 2nd time. I have since been to another CPA to correct them who has told me that my CPA from Gilman & Ciocia made mistakes that even he could not figure out! On top of all that, when I was first divorced [redacted] told me to let my ex keep claiming our son because it didn't benefit me financially. I found out from my new CPA that he was incorrect & when I should have claimed my son but did not because of [redacted]'s advice, I could have gotten back more money that I dearly am in need of now! I have phoned & emailed Gilman & Ciocia but have gotten no where & would like them to at least pay any late fees or interest charged to me due to the fact I must now pay back approx. $1,600 between state & fed but do not have the money to do so immediately.Once again, I have emailed a woman by the name of [redacted] who I was told would be able to assist me in this matter. I have emailed her due to these charges that I feel I should not be responsible for due to their tax preparers mistake & have not heard back yet. I know I must be responsible for the taxes that I received in error but do not feel like I should pay any other monies.
