Gino C. Barbati Chimney Sweep, Incorporated Reviews (2)

Review: I was told by this business that in order to begin the process and order the necessary parts for the repair they require a check equal to 50% of the total cost of the repair, I forwarded this check to them and the check was cashed 10/31/2013. There were no calls from Barbatti regarding the status of the parts or when the repair would be scheduled, I repeatedly called them and received the same response - the company we get the part from is slow and we are waiting on them. I waited a couple of weeks and received no update from them so oI called again and got the same story. The repair was finally scheduled for early February 2014 but because of the snow storms the repair was not done - however there was no call from the company to reschedule, when I contacted them again a week later it was rescheduled, again there was a storm - but no contact from the business to cancel or reschedule. I have called them numerous times (5) this week and left several messages with no response. They have had my money ($760) since 10/31/2013 and no repairs have been providedDesired Settlement: If the repaid cannot be fully completed within the next 7-10 days, I would like ti have a full refund of the deposit that was made in October 2013

Review: Back in March 2013 we had this company come out to put a liner in our chimney and put a cap and extension on the outside of the chimney. The reason for this was to eventually have a wood pellet stove installed into an existing wood burning fireplace. The company did come out and put in a liner, cap and extension and we then had another company come out to install the wood pellet stove. The 2nd company would not install the stove because they said the work done by Gino Barbati was not done correctly and we would get smoke damage in our house if we were to keep things the way they were. They refused to install the stove. We then had a 3rd company come out and they said the same thing the 2nd company said that Gino Barbati didn't install the liner, cap, and extension properly. They were willing to fix the mistakes that Gino Barbati created so that we could finally have our wood pellet stove installed (this is now November 2013). When they went to fix the liner a bunch of mortar fell out in power form (so it was never properly installed and had water mixed with it to make it actually stay in the fireplace). The extension and cap that was supposed to be glued to the top of the chimney just fell off, so it was never properly installed correctly. We paid Gino Barbati $1825.00 to do this work and it was not done properly. We then had to pay another company an additional 585.06 to fix Gino Barbati's work. We currently have the cap and extension sitting on the side of our house (brand-new) because it fell off due to improper installation. I have contacted Gino Barbati's company for my parents ([redacted] was the original purchaser) several times since November 20,2013 to get a response and their response is always, "let me speak with [redacted] or the owner and we'll get back to you". I never hear back from anyone and whenever I call back I get the same response and I get nowhere. We also have pictures of the improper installation of the liner if you need to see these at all.Desired Settlement: We would like Gino Barbati to reimburse us for what we paid his company for the work that was supposed to be done. He is more than welcome to come to our house to get the terra cotta extension and stainless steel cap that is sitting here not being used because it fell off of our house due to improper installation.

Dear [redacted],

In response to our open complaint (Gino Barbati Chimney Sweep, Inc. vs. **. [redacted]):

Per [redacted] in our office, we did try to contact **. [redacted] several times over the last few months to finish his job. Due to weather, his initial appointments were cancelled, as this winter was "a bear." Finally, on 3/31/14, I personally contacted **. [redacted] and successfully put his job on the schedule. His job is scheduled to be completed 4/4/14. As far as we are concerned, this matter is closed. If you have any other questions or concern, please feel free to contact me at ###-###-####.
