Review: Giovino's Flooring owned by [redacted] & [redacted] Giovino installed tile flooring in kitchen, laundry, & sunroom. Carpeting on steps, landing & hallway. Hardwood flooring in family room, foyer & dining room. After work was completed approx. 11'x 2 board widths of the hardwood buckled. [redacted] Giovino checked it & said to place a dehumidifier in the room & floor would go back down. This was on 9/16/13. On 9/23/13 w/no change in floor I called [redacted] who said to put dehumidifier in basement. On 9/30 I spoke with [redacted] Giovino who said to keep running dehumidifier. On 10/7 I called [redacted] who said he was busy & would call me back. Still waiting for that call. I called & spoke w/ [redacted] on 10/14-21-28/13. She told me to be patient & that it could take 2 months or more. I called 12/23/13 store was closed. On 12/30 left message w/[redacted] to have [redacted] call me. Still waiting for that call. On 1/6/14 I called the store. When no one answered I called [redacted]'s cell phone & left a message for him to call me. I then contacted the distributor who supplied the flooring to Giovino's. After their area rep spoke w/Giovino's I received a call from [redacted]. At this time [redacted] said he "[redacted] with me enough and would fix the floor." [redacted] scheduled 1/13/14 to repair floor. On 1/10/14 [redacted] w/Giovino's called & said [redacted] had to cancel appointment & would reschedule. Still waiting for that call. On 3/12/14 I called & spoke w/[redacted]. When asked if he ever intended to repair floor he said he would come out on 3/18/14 at 10:00am. He did not show up or call to cancel. Giovino's Flooring website advertises 'Guaranteed Installation' & 'Complete Warranty Service'. Apparently this is only good until they receive payment. Isn't the best advertising a satisfied customer?Desired Settlement: I have acquired pricing for repairs to the hardwood floor installed by Giovino's Flooring. The lowest proposal is $150.00. I would like a refund in this amount.Thank you.

05/06/2014Dear Revdex.com in response to complaint #[redacted],On 9/16/2013, myself [redacted] Giovino and installer [redacted] went to look at a complaint on a hardwood floor we installed.Upon inspection of the complaint there were some peaked boards in the dinning room on the outside wall aprox. 8 to 10 feet the length and 2 boards out. This is a sign of moisture issues. As we investigate more into the issue we went down into the basement and discovered a room underneath the front porch which is not enclosed and exposed to the elements. We opened the door and took moisture readings of the subfloor of the area in question. The moisture reading was over 22 percent. Normal moisure readings are 8 to 10 percent. We told our customer that they needed to open the door and run a dehumidifer to remove the moisture that was cause the peaked boards. Our customer was instructed before the sale and during the installation that he needed to controll the environment in the household. The customer had installed central air system which he never turned on while we were there. Even on 9/16/2013 the humidy/moisture level was very high. When I asked him why he didnt have it running he said he only had used it once because nobody was ever home.Giovinos Flooring is not responsible for maintaining the environment /moisture/humidy in the customers household that is the responsibility of the customer. And it is a moisture problem that caused cupping to the hardwood on that outside wall.After thier job was completed the customer was supposed to give our installer the final payment, which he did not. We made a few attemts to collect balance which he said he would mail it to us, but he did not. The customer had then said that he was holding onto our final payment because he wanted to beat us over the price. This process for us to get paid took 3 weeks.We still have not recieved payment on an open un-paid invoice dated 08/29/2013 in the sum of $479.46 for extra work and materials that they requested.Giovinos Flooring went over and above for this customer the project started 06/11/2013 to 8/20/2013. The customer made it very difficult to complete the work. He would have us start a project and tell us he would call us back to finish.I feel that this is wrong for this customer to try to discredit myself and my business. This customer was very missleading and discreditable.
