The funeral home reported my mothers DOB for the death certificate incorrectly and will not pay to have their mistake corrected.
My mother passed 5/28/17. The funeral home, Girdner Funeral Home reported her date of birth incorrectly to the city/county. Both my two sisters and I have requested a correction for the purpose of an accurate death certificate but the funeral home denies responsibility. My Mom paid on this pre-burial policy for years; they failed to provide a place marker for the grave site. I had to pay an additional fee to have them take one to her grave. They have been unhelpful and sloppy with the service they have provided. During times of loss, it perpetuates the pain by having to deal with dishonest, fraudulent and misrepresented businesses such as Girdner Funeral Home.
They should pay to have my mother's death certificate corrected and I should be provided with 2 copies. I am not requesting to be reimbursed for the 2 incorrect copies that have already been purchased. They should make this right. They should make this wrong...right. Make it right.
Answer to complaint:
1. Apparently date of birth is incorrect on death certificate.
2. *** Funeral Home obtained date of birth information from investigators.
3. Investigators obtained date of birth information from the family on the scene of her death.
4. Additional family members want the date of birth changed.
5. *** Funeral Home will correct date of birth on death certificate with all necessary communication and paperwork if:
a. Family is willing to pay the fees required as it was not our mistake. We were given incorrect information by investigators who obtained it from other family members.
b. In order to do so, we will have to have a copy of Mrs. ***'s birth certificate for assurance of her correct date of birth.
6. Mrs. *** had a pre-need funeral plan with *** Funeral Home. (The place marker) was not included on her pre-need. Therefore, there was an additional fee to provide this merchandise.
7. *** Funeral Home has made every reasonable attempt to explain the facts to ***. We were unable to communicate these facts to her.
8. *** Funeral Home will gladly provide detailed information to any interested parties.

My Mother started this burial policy over 20 plus years ago. This business is blaming "investigators" for providing information they had on file via the policy started by my mother.
To have a death certificate corrected, I would not need their assistance. They should take responsibility for "THEIR" error.
If they are choosing not to take ownership of "their" error, I cannot sue them nor will the Revdex.com do anything on my behalf to encourage them.
Please let it be known, my efforts to inform anyone in the Abilene, Texas area (Clyde, Merkel, Tye and other surrounding towns) Girdner Funeral Homes blatant disrespect for my Mom and my family.
It is my hope they are run out of business. My mother's policy, which was started by her, will reflect her date of birth. If Girdner Funeral Home does not practice referencing customers policies, checking and triple checking dates, they are not fit to service the community of Abilene, Texas.
It is my hope you go out of business. You do not deserve to be in business if you cannot own up to your mistakes.
