possibly a little worse than the first time I was there to view the issue back in October She also showed me an area in her basement(wine room) that she said was full of waterI firmly believe that this was not a roof issue but possibly a FOUNDATION issueAfter me and my two employees did some looking at the roof from the ground, we felt that there are some issues with the way the roof was originally installed, with some short courses of shingles and improper head lap and also the possibility of water coming out from behind the chimney cricket and being forced under the asbestos shingle thus causing the leak problemWhen leaks occur on year old roofs they sometime are not found in the assessment as we are looking for the obvious issuesIn this case the caulk on the chimney counter flashing appeared to be the issueGlandt Roofing Co., did the work that was proposed and do not feel that we did anything wrong in our roof leak assessmentAccording to Ms***'s statement above, to the any collapsed ceiling in the entry way nor the coat closet at the east side of the entry way, I do find her statement to be that the ceilings had collapsedThe door to the closet did have water marks on it, but it also had water marks on it in October when I first looked at the leak issueGlandt Roofing Co., spent hour of labor including drive time and 2-tubes of caulk to make the proposed repairs Glandt Roofing Co., was contacted by Ms. [redacted] to investigate a possible leak in the chimney/roof at her residence. Ms. [redacted]...

stated that the chimney flashing needed to be resealed. Glandt Roofing Co.'s philosophy is to repair the obvious issues at a minimal cost to fix the problem. I am sure Glandt or anyone else could have gave Ms. [redacted] a price to do much more extensive repairs at a much higher cost but we did not in the hope of the caulking on the chimney counter flashing being the leak issue. I, [redacted] got onto the roof and found a few spots that the existing caulk was loose on the chimney counter flashing, I took pictures and showed them to Ms. [redacted], she agreed that the flashing should be re-caulked. I gave her a verbal cost of around $300.00 dollars. I sent two of my employees to the jobsite on October 29, 2015 to remove the old caulk and apply new Dow 795 silicone base caulk. She also ask us to repair 1-broken asbestos shingle on the roof while we were there which was part of the original repair. The repairs were completed as discussed. After several rains the leak issue appeared to be repaired so I billed the job on December 3,2015. I allowed sufficient time before billing the job to make SURE THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. No contact was made within the 30 day from time of work being done to the time of billing the job in regards to any leak issues until the unusual amount of rain the weekend after Christmas. Ms. [redacted]'s first call to me was made on or around 12-29-15. I told Ms. [redacted] I would stop by as soon as possible and would call before I come out. Unfortunately I was not able to get to her home in what she thought was a timely manner. Keep in mind we just had 10-12 inches of rain and I had well over 100 calls for people with roof leaks. I attempted to send my roofers to her home on two occasions but could not get in touch with Ms. [redacted] via her cell phone number. I received the complaint from the Revdex.com filed by Ms. [redacted] on January 20,2016. I sent Ms. [redacted] an email on January 21, 2016 stating that we had tried on two occasions to contact her to come back out to further investigate the leak problem and that I was a bit upset that she took the approach to contact the Revdex.com before allowing us to make an attempt to resolve the issue. I, [redacted] and two of my employees met at Ms. [redacted]'s home on January 21, 2016 to check out the issue and try to resolve the leak. Ms. [redacted] would not allow us get on the roof because there was still a small amount of snow on it. She did show us the inside closet area where the leak was still showing up at. The ceiling was still in place but had water damage that was possibly a little worse than the first time I was there to view the issue back in October 2015. She also showed me an area in her basement(wine room) that she said was full of water. I firmly believe that this was not a roof issue but possibly a FOUNDATION issue. After me and my two employees did some looking at the roof from the ground, we felt that there are some issues with the way the roof was originally installed, with some short courses of shingles and improper head lap and also the possibility of water coming out from behind the chimney cricket and being forced under the asbestos shingle thus causing the leak problem. When leaks occur on 100 year old roofs they sometime are not found in the assessment as we are looking for the obvious issues. In this case the caulk on the chimney counter flashing appeared to be the issue. Glandt Roofing Co., did the work that was proposed and do not feel that we did anything wrong in our roof leak assessment. According to Ms. [redacted]'s statement above, to the Revdex.com this leak issue has been going on since at least 2011. Also Ms. [redacted] stated that we broke a shingle on her roof and did not fix it. I discussed this issue with my roofers that did the repair work and they stated that this is NOT TRUE, they did not break any shingles in the process of making the proposed repairs. When me and my employees meet with Ms. [redacted] on January 21,2016 we did not see any collapsed ceiling in the entry way nor the coat closet at the east side of the entry way, I do find her statement to be false that the ceilings had collapsed. The door to the closet did have water marks on it, but it also had water marks on it in October 2015 when I first looked at the leak issue. Glandt Roofing Co., spent 8 hour of labor including drive time and 2-tubes of caulk to make the proposed repairs in October 2015. Our cost per man hour of labor is typically $105.00 per man hour which would have been $840.00 and 2-tubes of caulk at $9.00 each for a total cost of $858.00. We billed Ms. [redacted] $400.00 which was $100.00 more than the verbal quote which I felt was very fair considering the actual cost to make the proposed repair. It should be very apparent to the Revdex.com that Glandt Roofing Co has an outstanding record of quality work for our customers. I feel that Ms. [redacted] is making it appear that Glandt Roofing Co., damaged her home, in an attempt to have us pay for repairs to interior damage from roof leaks which date back to 2011 at a minimum. Glandt Roofing Co., did nothing to Ms. [redacted]'s home to cause any interior damages.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2016/01/31) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Per [redacted]'s visit on Thursday, January 28:
1. Homeowner's original request was for Glandt Roofing to identify and repair a possible leak. Glandt Roofing decided the scope of work was to reseal chimney flashing, last sealed in 2011.
2. One abestos shingle was broken at the time of [redacted]'s ORIGINAL INSPECTION. . .NOT BY HIS CREW. His crew repaired the broken shingle, with the Homeowner supplying the replacement shingle.
3. All calls received from [redacted] at Glandt Roofing were returned (XXX-XXX-XXXX) on January 15 & 16, per my Revdex.com submission. [redacted], [redacted] & [redacted] admitted that the contact calls had been made on an unmonitored office phone, so my return calls were not 'received'???
4. I received a proposal for an additional $2.180 worth of work on Saturday, January 30. . .which I had planned to accept, until reading Mr. [redacted]'s submission. In an email, Mr. [redacted] also asked me to 'please' contact the Bureau and remove my complaint.
I would now ask that [redacted] Roofing Refund the 25% over charge ($100) on the original work AND return the abestos shingle they were given on the 28th, in an attempt to match replacement shingles.
