Glass Doctor of Raleigh Reviews (2)

I got a quote from Conservation Construction of Dallas. They are great.

I purchased two pieces of glass for a dining room table on 9/23/13. The one piece of glass was chipped before Thanksgiving.I called to place the order on the 23rd of September and picked it up the next week. I got it home and put it on the table. The week before Thanksgiving the one piece of glass starting chipping on both sides. I lifted it up to clean it and when I placed it down pieces of glass flew on the kitchen floor. Both sides of the same piece of glass have chips in them. I can't use it. I am too afraid I will cut myself or my children will cut themselves. I only use the table on the weekends so in less than 2 months time it is chipped. I called and spoke with [redacted] at Glass Doctor and sent him pictures and he said that since I didn't put anything between the two pieces that if they touch they can chip. So why didn't the other piece chip? I am very careful when I clean it so not to don't drop it or bang them together. All I want is a piece of glass so the table wouldn't get scratched and now I have scratches from the glass chipping. I just bought the table at the beginning of September. So now I have a table with scratches from the glass and [redacted] informed me I could get another piece but he would have to charge me. I am not paying for another piece of glass from Glass Doctor so it can chip again. I would rather go to another company and get it done correctly. I should known better considering they were the cheapest. I got what I paid for. I have learned my lesson and will not support this business and will make sure friends and family don't support this company either.Desired SettlementI would like the money I paid for the glass back. I don't want another piece of glass. I want to be able to purchase a better quality glass.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX-XXX-XXXXContact Email: [redacted]@glassdoctorrdu.comOn 9/23/13 Mrs. [redacted] called in to place an order over the phone for two pieces of glass for her table. The glass she ordered was ¼" thick annealed plate glass with polished edges. The glass she ordered is the correct type for her intended application and is commonly used for kitchen tables, desk, dressers, night stands or any glass that is resting on a solid surface. On 12/2/13 Mrs. [redacted] called stating that the glass had chipped. I asked her how it happened and to send me some pictures of the glass. After speaking to Mrs. [redacted] and looking at the pictures, she has both pieces of glass on the table butting up to each other. It looks like the two corners of the glass hit and chipped the corner of one of the pieces. This can happen anytime you hit two pieces of glass together. Anytime you are going to butt two pieces of glass together you would place small clear setting blocks between the two pieces to keep them from contacting each other. Mrs. [redacted] stated that the two pieces of glass did not hit each other. Glass does not break on its own. The two corners had to hit causing the chip in the glass. This is not an issue of the quality of the glass she had purchased. There is no difference between one glass and another outside of different colors and thickness. All glass companies purchase plate glass from the same manufacturers and there is no variance in the quality. The only other options to make the glass stronger would be to have ordered the glass tempered. Tempered glass is heat strengthened and is 7 times stronger than standard plate glass. Even if the glass had been tempered, it only reduces the chance that the glass would break hitting the corners together. There is never a warranty on glass breakage once the glass leaves our possession since we no longer have control of how the glass is being used or taken care of. We understand that Mrs. [redacted] is not happy that the glass broke, however Glass Doctor cannot be responsible for replacing the glass that the customer has had for over 2 months. We did offer to get the customer a new piece of glass, but we would need to charge for it. At this point we would be willing to refund her for the one piece of glass that she broke at $62.35. The customer needs to understand that in order to prevent the glass from breaking again, she needs to place something between the pieces so they do not hit each other.
