Mr*** was told he damaged the product because he admitted he damaged the product. There are two screws used in the installation and Mr*** stripped the threads one of them went into. The part was never defective but was damaged by Mr***. We offered Mr*** a replacement for the part he damaged at a severely discounted rate as an offer of good faith and so Mr*** has some skin in the game for installing it correctly the next timeHe is not interested in resolution where he takes even part responsibility for his actionsThat is his choice

I am rejecting this response because after explaining to Al L*** exactly what I was experiencing with the product, he immediately told me that I damaged it during installationHe stated this without ever seeing the productThis puts the customer on the defensive from the very beginningThe product is very simple to install...it's one small screw that goes into one small screw holeI'm familiar with the concept and proficient with a screwdriverI also know not to over tighten themThe product instructions made note of that as well, so I was extremely carefulBut that didn't matter because the threads were defectiveThey were delivered in that wayThe product in question is a set of handgun sightsThe reason I purchased them is because my previous sights were damaged and had to be removedTherefore I could not send the new ones back to Al because I would be left with a firearm with no sightsI use this firearm for workIt can't be without sights, because it would be extremely dangerous to do soSince the sights were delivered defective, I had to glue them in placeIf I remove them to send back to Al, it will most certainly damage them, and Al has made it clear that he would not replace or refund them if that were the caseIt would be pointless, and I would again be without sights for my weaponSo I was better off glueing them in placeThis is not ideal, because the glue could fail, causing serious safety concernsI did it temporarily until I received the replacementI'm still waiting on that replacementThank you.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: At no time did I ever admit to damaging the productI told Al that the threads were defective when I received themThe screw would not engage the threads at allHe said that they were not defective without ever examining them, and then refused to send a replacement at no chargeSo I had no choice but to glue it in placeI paid $for those sights, I'm not paying additional money because of a manufacturer's defectHe can say the product wasn't defective all he wants, but he'll just be assumingHe can say that I damaged the product all he wants, but he'll just be assumingAnd why would I ever take responsilibility for damaging a product that I did not damage? Expecting a customer to do so is insulting and unprofessional
Sincerely,
*** ***
