Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]
Mr. J[redacted] has failed to address my concern in his response. In the Glazed and Amused vendor advertisement/registration form it states that the class cost includes materials, supplies, and instruction. There are no policy provisions or added exceptions to make customers aware otherwise. To reiterate my conversation with Mr. J[redacted] as stated in my complaint, I requested that my daughter make it up at the shop (no), I requested that she make it up in class as she usually gets done at least 15 minutes early (no), I finally requested that he please give her the pottery (course material) to decorate at home as it was included in the cost of the course (no). If course materials are included in the cost of a course, they belong to the student. If the course cost was based entirely on instruction, as his response indicates, the course materials should have been sold separately. I am not the only parent concerned about how he is conducting his business in schools. I'm just the only one willing to take the time to make a complaint based on practical time/cost factors in pursuing this. The principle that he is not honoring his advertisement when coming into schools -- knowing that kids often miss school for extraneous reasons -- is troubling. In speaking with the school principal, he was not aware of this policy. He called them to resolve it on my behalf and then communicated that Glazed and Amused was not willing to provide the said class materials. Peripheral points - at no time was I ever rude to the course instructor. I would have no reason to be -- it is not her policy position. Furthermore, I was surrounded at all times by other parents and children while speaking with her. I request that Mr. J[redacted] stop withholding the missed course material (pottery piece) and let my daughter enjoy decorating it at her own leisure at home.

I write you in response to a letter that I received from the Revdex.com identified with an ID of [redacted].   My business, Glazed & Amused, services an after school enrichment program at the complainant’s child’s school.  The duration of the program is 6 weeks at a cost...

of $8 per week.   During which the student completes 4 projects. With respect to the incident described in this complaint, the incident has been partially described accurately.  If a student misses a class they are not able to make up the missed project.  The school is / has been aware of this policy. The reasons for this particular policy are several, some of which were explained to the customer.   At any given time during the school year my company services up to 1000 students at nearly 50 elementary schools.  We offer these programs at significantly reduced rates in order to accommodate the budget demands of the schools and parents.  As an example, the program this customers daughter in enrolled in offers a 34% savings over the cost of the same projects if they were purchased in our retail store.   In order to offer classes in this manor, it is necessary for us to run a very organized and streamlined program.  Although it may seem like a simple solution in one isolated case, it is completely unreasonable to track and store projects for that quantity of students when they miss classes through no fault of ours.  In this way the class operates exactly like a tennis or a piano lesson.  If you miss the class then you miss the project.  The customer purchased admission for her child to the enrichment program, she did not purchase product.  If this was the desired outcome then purchasing projects at our retail store (at full retail prices) should have been the course of action.Over the course of Glazed & Amused’s 14 years of operation we have serviced dozens of schools and 1000s of students.  During the course of this time we have been presented with this same question.  On each and every single occurrence a brief explanation for the reasoning of our policy has satisfied the school / parent.  It is regrettable that this individual is unwilling or unable to view this issue from any perspective other than their own.  Furthermore on two occasions when addressing this matter the customer has become rude towards staff members when they did not accommodate her demand to adjust our store policy.  She applied this same tact when I took the time to contact her myself, despite having the “no makeup” policy already relayed to her on those two previous occasions.  As outlined in her complaint we have spoken with the schools Principal, she failed to mention that we are not in conflict on this issue.  I stand resolved that everything you have paid for has been made available to you.  It was your choice for the student to not attend a class and it is not the our obligation to accommodate your schedule changes.  I am more than willing to stand on my company’s spotless reputation serving schools and students for over a decade, and will not offer any further consideration toward this matter.Sincerely,Brian J[redacted]President – Glazed & Amused
