It cost me $200+ to cancel my service because I had forgot about the day notice before your policy automatically renews AnnuallyI have been a customer for almost three years now and I thought was in the clear from any committmentsOur system was damaged by a power surge, and the service group is professional but expensiveACKERMAN quoted me around $to fixI got a Quote from Jackson EMC to replace my system for half the price without any contractsI called ACKERMAN to cancel and they informed me of my $cancelation fee, then proceeded to tell me they would match the quote by JEMCI don't care for people who conduct business like that To top it off, after our system went down ACKERMAN never called until a week later to inquire about the system being offlineAnd it was about two months that they had absolutely no problems billing me for service that isn't being provided when my system was down till the day I cancelled with a parting gift of $cancellation fee Oh wait, they don't stop your monthly billing for service (which they haven't provided for months now) because they need a letter from me releasing them from liability What kind of scam is thisWhat about an obligation to provide a service that someone is being forced to pay for?
After having been with Ackerman for more than a year, I just realized how bad they are in serviceThank God we did not have an alarm event, but when my kids open the door when the alarm is on, the alarm goes off but no one ever called from AckermanThis happened many timesWhen I called to cancel the service, they said I've a three year agreement and will have to pay to cancel the contractThe rep told me to call and have the system tested with one of their repsI did and the rep tested the systemThen she told me that they are receiving the alert from our system very late and something could be wrongShe said she will send a tech out to our home to test the systemShe NEVER told me that I will be charged for that service callThe apt time for the tech to come was from noon to 4.00pmThe tech called me at 6.30AM and said he will be there in minutes!! He came and checked out the system and asked me if Ackerman was our service provider because he said the system is not showing the correct numbersThis was after more than a year of me paying their billsHe said he fixed the system and told that I have to pay bucks for the call!! I asked him why I should I pay because firstly I did not call him, his company sent him because the system was not working correctly and the lady never told me that I had to payI paid the bill reluctantly because I did not have a choiceI'm so frustrated that I've decided to pay the $which they said I have to pay to get out of the contractThe irony of the whole issue is that upon hanging up with the rep for cancellation, I get an thank you email which I reproducing below which says 'No long term agreements required!! I met an Ackerman Security regional manager at a job fair, and he convince me to switch to his company for dollars less per monthAnd I have never been so disappointed, the system has never workedI called several times about the system going off for no reasonAnd I told to bypass the basement door alarmAnd was told to have someone to come out, it would coat dollars or an additional ten dollars a monthI called back and an agent told that they would come for dollars, he never gave me a date, this has been the worst decision I have ever made, for dollars I feel less secure with Acvkerman
