Beware of the annual renewal policy! It cost me $200+ to cancel my service because I had forgot about the 60 day notice before your policy automatically renews Annually. I have been a customer for almost three years now and I thought was in the clear from any committments. Our system was damaged by a power surge, and the service group is professional but expensive. ACKERMAN quoted me around $1000 to fix. I got a Quote from Jackson EMC to replace my system for half the price without any contracts. I called ACKERMAN to cancel and they informed me of my $200 cancelation fee, then proceeded to tell me they would match the quote by JEMC. I don't care for people who conduct business like that.

To top it off, after our system went down ACKERMAN never called until a week later to inquire about the system being offline. And it was about two months that they had absolutely no problems billing me for service that isn't being provided when my system was down till the day I cancelled with a parting gift of $200 cancellation fee.

Oh wait, they don't stop your monthly billing for service (which they haven't provided for months now) because they need a letter from me releasing them from liability. What kind of scam is this. What about an obligation to provide a service that someone is being forced to pay for?

I met an Ackerman Security regional manager at a job fair, and he convince me to switch to his company for 20 dollars less per month. And I have never been so disappointed, the system has never worked. I called several times about the system going off for no reason. And I told to bypass the basement door alarm. And was told to have someone to come out, it would coat 80 dollars or an additional ten dollars a month. I called back and an agent told that they would come for 40 dollars, he never gave me a date, this has been the worst decision I have ever made, for 20 dollars I feel less secure with Acvkerman.

Recently signed up for the service that started today, works like it should. The Rep was both customer friendly and professional. His knowledge level was the main selling point. The Installer was also quite professional, friendly, professional and highly knowledgeable. The price was also very good.

Disappointed that my original installation appt was not kept. Apparently the salesman never actually scheduled it, and I took the day off from work for nothing. Had to call main number 3 times to finally get a new appt scheduled. That visit went as scheduled.

Called with question / complaint:
Battery in keypad was supposed to last four years. Failed after 1 year.

Honest, useful on call #1. Honest, useless on followup. (Expensive service call to replace. My opinion - should have been under warranty. in the process of end-user replacement...)

We have been a customer of Ackerman Security for many, many years. Extremely happy with them. Just switched to Wireless & did some upgrades. Customer Rep did not try to oversell us. and the Installer was excellent. Both were true gentlemen. I highly recommend Ackerman for your Security System

From start to finish our process of converting to a wireless system has been flawless. Thank you JW B. For your thorough knowledge of both systems, equipment, and dedication to your company. Our installer Doug was fantastic as well. Overall our experience was well noted and I can only recommend others to look at Ackerman for their security

I am very please with the service as well as the price.

After having been with Ackerman for more than a year, I just realized how bad they are in service. Thank God we did not have an alarm event, but when my kids open the door when the alarm is on, the alarm goes off but no one ever called from Ackerman. This happened many times. When I called to cancel the service, they said I've a three year agreement and will have to pay to cancel the contract. The rep told me to call and have the system tested with one of their reps. I did and the rep tested the system. Then she told me that they are receiving the alert from our system very late and something could be wrong. She said she will send a tech out to our home to test the system. She NEVER told me that I will be charged for that service call. The apt time for the tech to come was from noon to 4.00pm. The tech called me at 6.30AM and said he will be there in 30 minutes!! He came and checked out the system and asked me if Ackerman was our service provider because he said the system is not showing the correct numbers. This was after more than a year of me paying their bills. He said he fixed the system and told that I have to pay 90 bucks for the call!! I asked him why I should I pay because firstly I did not call him, his company sent him because the system was not working correctly and the lady never told me that I had to pay. I paid the bill reluctantly because I did not have a choice. I'm so frustrated that I've decided to pay the $400 which they said I have to pay to get out of the contract. The irony of the whole issue is that upon hanging up with the rep for cancellation, I get an thank you email which I reproducing below which says 'No long term agreements required!!
