We have purchased many items from this store before. Recently we purchased a chainsaw. At the time of purchase the item worked. By it being winter, we did not use it till 10 days later. Store police only cover for 9 days. I walked in the store because I had questions concerning the item. Before I can open my mouth to speak. I was told rudely I was not getting my money back. I was judged soon as I entered the store and I just came to ask a question. The owner [redacted] was very rude and disrespectful. The chainsaw don't work and I was offered no compensation. Why should I be the one out of 90 dollars. I understand stores have to make money. I'm not looking for a refund but how about an exchange towards another purchase. Willing to work with that. So my complaint is I have no chainsaw and I'm out of 90 dollars and that's not fair. If its any way you can possibly help me resolve this I will greatly appreciate it.Desired Settlementan exchange refund for dollar amount.Business Response We have been informed of the complaint and we welcome any investigation by the Revdex.com. We are a private business that has been serving the public since 2007. Throughout the years, we have built close business relationships with our customers. We not only serve the public but we also sale new and used merchandise to local city and county law enforcement agencies as well as fire departments. We also make large cash and property donations to charities and tax exempt organizations throughout the year. We try to greet all customers with a smile and a friendly attitude every time. We do this as a hallmark of our commitment to quality service to our customers old and new. We take the allegations against our business very serious and we also launched our own investigation that stemmed from the complaint received by the Revdex.com.Our records indicate that the chainsaw was purchased on 12/10/2014 at 1:06pm. The customer was given precise instructions on starting and safely operating the chainsaw. Staff members took the customer outside and demonstrated how to crank the chainsaw. The customers explained that they understood how to crank the chainsaw. They purchased the saw and our records will show that the saw was purchased for $67.22 Transaction #[redacted]. The saw was returned on 12/23/2014 and the customer stated that the saw did not work. Two staff members took the saw and examined it. There were fresh wood shavings stuck in the saw chain and the teeth, evidence of usage prior to return. Staff members checked the chainsaw for damage. No damage was found. The chainsaw was cranked several times without any problems. Customer stated that he did not know how to properly start the chainsaw, but again, the evidence showed the saw had been used after its original purchase. We stand behind our products that we sale, we value our customers and their experience when dealing with us in our store. All products are tested, cleaned, and ensured to work prior to sale. Our store policy is "ALL Sales are final" this is posted throughout our store. We adhere to this policy with all customers because in the past customers have purchased products such as chainsaws long enough to cut their winter supply of fire wood and then tried to return the product for a full return. Our policy is posted behind the counter and this customer was informed of the policy at the time of purchase. At the conclusion of our investigation we have determined that the complaint by the consumer lacks merit in several areas. Our review of the product with the customer present revealed a lack of knowledge about the proper usage and handling of the chainsaw that directly complicated its usage by the consumer. We stand by our decision to deny a refund or replacement of the product and we are committed and willing to cooperate with any investigation by the Revdex.com. We can provide at your request, copies of transaction receipts, photographs of the policy posted behind the counter in large letters and any other documentation needed. We have maintained our store policy since 2007 and only taken products that were returned if there was an issue with the product that we missed. This was not the case with this product. We stand behind the policy out of fairness and consistency to all of our customers.Our records will show that the complaint lacks merit also in the fact that consumer claims to be without a chainsaw and at a loss of $90.00 The consumer only paid $67.22 for the product and the consumer at this point in time still has the product. The complainant was no the original purchaser of the product and was no present during the return. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need any additional information.Consumer Response First of all I have to address the statement regarding fresh wood shaving in the teeth of the chain saw, this is a lie, we Never use the product because it Never worked. And for them to say they got pictures, that irrelevant, anyone can take pictures of a chain saw and post on the internet .... I have deal with this company for a couple of years and I see they DO NOT value their customers nor their products .... This company is not telling the truth and I would love to see proof of wood shaving from the chain saw, we still have the bushes we wanted to cut down, what ever proof they have I would love to see it. I have purchase TV's, speakers, 3 game system and a computer tablet and lots of dvd movies from them and never had a problem .... I have spend over a thousand dollars in this store, now its a problem with the chain saw, whether its 60.00 or 90.00 it don't matter, a problem is a problem, some kind of comprise should be met especially if this company said it value it customer ... action speak louder than words .... bottom line, this place is a rip off, its all about taking your money and to hell with the rest.... Thank you.Final Business Response In response to the Consumer's rebuttal:We respectfully ask for a close of this investigation by the Revdex.com based on the following facts. We feel that the consumer failed to present a case that showed negligence on the part of our business based on statements in this investigation that are clearly false on the behalf of the consumer and the fact that there is an apparent lack of truthfulness followed by contradicting statements that we will address further down this rebuttal on our behalf.In the original complaint the consumer stated that the chainsaw worked at the time of purchase (See original compliant). The consumer then stated in the rebuttal that "the saw never worked." (See rebuttal).In the original complaint the consumer stated "why should I be the one out of 90 dollars." (See original complaint) We have provided original receipts in photos that prove that the saw did not cost $90.00 but in fact the consumer actually paid $67.22 which we feel was an attempt to defraud our business had we settled with a full re-compensation for the purchase. The consumer stated in the rebuttal "whether is 60.00 or 90.00 it don't matter." (See rebuttal) When in fact it does matter, it matters on the principal that a false accusation was made against our business and now fictitious information has been provided on the part of the consumer to try and substantiate a false claim.Issues to be addressed further are as follows:The consumer was given a full demonstration of starting the chainsaw and safe operation by staff.The consumer was unable to start the chainsaw as shown due to inability on the part of the consumer.The consumer stated at the time of the return "I don't know how to crank it". Staff cranked the chainsaw at the time of the return several times without incident that showed that there was not an issue with the chainsaw. The chainsaw operated without a problem.We do not have a 9 day return policy as stated by the consumer. Our sales are final unless fault can be found on the store and the product at which point we always give full return to the consumer or replacement as long as the consumer has the original sales receipt. Consumer failed to meet the criteria for our store policy. Our store policies are posted throughout the business and the consumer was well aware of the policy at the time of the sale. The consumer stated that she has done business with our company for a couple of years. Our store policy has never changed. The consumer did in fact enter the store with the chainsaw, however, the store owner ([redacted]) was not present or involved in any conversation with the consumer. We are unsure why the consumer would state anything negative about the owner in this matter and we have no position on that statement at this time other than it is a false accusation. We started our own internal investigation at the very beginning of this ordeal to get to the truth of the matter by interviewing our employees and documents. Our investigation revealed that the consumer was very rude and disrespectful with our employees when discussing the matter and the consumer presented a high level of hostility toward the employees.In closing, we feel that we have provided evidence of receipts, and policies that contradict the statements made by the consumer in this matter. Based on the accusations by the consumer, we fully stand by our store policy and our reputation for a respectful and professional business. We have never had a complaint on our business before. We strive to provide an atmosphere that is welcoming and open to our customers and we feel it is the hallmark of our employees. As stated before, we must maintain a business based on fairness and consistency with all of our customers. Furthermore, we respectfully ask that the Revdex.com close this investigation on our business and refrain from posting any harmful statements about our business online. We feel we have proven that the consumer has made contradicting statements about issues that are key elements in this issue. We feel that the contradicting statements made by the consumer would not hold merit in a court of law and we ask that you take that into consideration as well. When making accusations against someone, or a business in this matter, we feel it is important to bring all information into discussion, all evidence that either supports the claim or reveals the truth against a claim. We have worked hard to create our business and a reputable name. We do not want to lose that but at the same time we are not at fault on this matter.
