Global Catholic Tours of Virginia Reviews (2)

October 18, 2014Dear [redacted],I offer two attachments.
1. the application form which this client declined travel insurance and signed.
2. the flyer I immediately mailed to her explaining the risks of not taking the insurance. I tried to emphasize that she was risking...

her travel investments without the insurance package based on the published cancellation policy. She did call shortly before cancelling on Sept 1...6 days prior to departure, During that call she expressed concerned that the publicity surrounding the Gaza battle and was starting to worry. I explained that the conflict was not anywhere near where the group was traveling and that the tour was still going as scheduled. Her comment was that she would check with the other group members to see if they were still going. (The group did depart and complete the tour as scheduled)
When she did call to cancel on Sunday, Aug 31,2014, I asked that she send me her request to cancel in writing.During that call, I explained that the airline tickets had been issued and the hotel reservation had been made and that they were non refundable. I advised her that [redacted] was in the process of mailing the travel package to her. We discussed her decision not to buy the travel insurance package and that there would be no refund as stated in the Program Conditions. We did offer her the address of [redacted] Airlines Customer Service in case she wanted to appeal directly to the airlines.
This client was given every opportunity to purchase the travel insurance package and she declined. Her actions resulted in the loss of her travel investments.
Sincerely,
John T, Colonel, USAF Ret

I am rejecting this response because:
October 27th

Complaint # [redacted]
Mr T[redacted] makes it sound as if I only called 6 days before
the trip and he knows that is not true. I did reject the insurance policy
because it was too costly. I knew that there would be a chance I would lose my
money if my elderly mother got sick. I never thought I would be the one to
become so ill. When I realized that there was so much turmoil in Israel I
contacted Father [redacted] and told him about my concerns. He was not sure
whether the trip would be cancelled but he was going to ask Mr T[redacted] to enter
in contact with me. I did not hear from Mr T[redacted]. I continued to call and
even asked my sister to assist me in getting in touch with him since she was
home during the day. When we finally made contact with Mr T[redacted] he announced to me that he
would be mailing the travel documents the next week and that basically it was
too late to cancel.  He also explained
that we would not be close to the Gaza strip. I wanted to confirm with the rest
of the group but between my health concerns MD’s appointments and work I did
not have the chance to do it. (I figured I could not cancel anyway). Due to my
many issues (I got sick, my father died on September 1st) I was
expecting that he would allow me to if not cancel at least postpone the trip. I
had been asking to cancel! Mr T[redacted]’s callous answer was to tell me that I
had the choice of taking the insurance and that it was my entire fault. At
first he was going to try and help me get some refund from the hotel and
whatever I could from the airline. He sent me some info about the airline and I
was able to obtain a voucher, which was all he did.
Mr T[redacted] may be right in stating that I cancelled at the
last minute but it is only because I could not get in touch with him when I
wanted to cancel on time. I went along with him when I should have insisted that
he sent me whatever amount of money I could have gotten at that time. I really
wanted to take my mom before it was too late! He forced me to write to the
Revdex.com when he reneged on his offer to help me get some refund
from the hotel and announced that it was entirely my fault for losing my hard
earned money   Regards,
[redacted]
