Global Directory Of Who's Who Reviews (16)

After reading the complaint, we are not sure what issue is and why there would be mention of billing issues. What [redacted] is alleging is that we are a scam because she filled out an invitation to be included and that we would call her and ask for money. First off, we have been in business for...

almost 10 years. We just shipped our 8th edition, we closed out our 9th edition on December **, and have begun the collaboration for our 10th publication. We also provide an online forum to compliment the hard covered copy of the book. The online biography also allows member instant access to thier biography as well as that of the other professionals so they can network amongst each other. Once a candidate fills out an invitation form we do call to verify and we also "offer" programs in the event a candidate would like to expand on thier listing. This is NOT an obligation and if no purchase is made, the candidate receives a complimentary listing in the hard covered directory. Unfortunately people do not realize there are numerous costs to publish the book and operate the business. To be labeled as a "scam" when there has been no interaction with us is extremely unfair. We take pride in our product and services. When alluding to what was read online about us, all we can say is that we have conducted over 30,000 transactions and to date have 15,000 existing members. The complaint is a fraction of a percentage point but we take our reputation very seriously. We have a very liberal cancellation and refund policy and work very hard to keep our members happy. [redacted] has nothing to fear as we will not be including any of her information and we will have the [redacted] call her to put any further concerns to rest.

We are extremely sorry that [redacted] continues to receive any emails, however, we are not the provider who is sending out the invitations.  There are 3rd party media companies responsible for the campaigns, and we have not utilized any in quite some time.  If [redacted] can forward the...

email to our secretary's attention at [redacted] we can see for ourselves what the advertisement is and help get to the bottom of it.  If there is a site that is "phishing" with our information we need to take precautions on our end. Nonetheless, we will do everything we can to remove it.

After receiving this complaint, I immediately contacted the third party provider to research this because we have not run any sponsored email advertisements in quite a while.  We believe this gentleman\ received a "phishing" email and are utilizing our resources to find out where it is...

generating from.  I did not want this complaint to go unanswered while we research this matter and will contact Mr. Peters as soon as we have gotten to the bottom of this.

After numerous attempts to speak with [redacted] so we could rectify the situation amicably, [redacted] finally got a hold of her on the fourth attempt. As stated in our initial response, we refunded the money for the directory. However the secondary issue that came up after was without merit. [redacted] explained to her that her biography and picture have been up online since February when she took the membership. Although the book is not released it is with the printers scheduled to start delivery within 4-6 weeks as the formatting, editing, print, package and ship process takes several months for a book this size (over 1000 pages). We also explained we knew of no such issue about changes to her biography until she put in the secondary complaint for no reason. She explained to [redacted] that she had fallen on some difficult times, which delayed her getting back to us. Unfortunately we cannot correct or resolve any issues unless we know we have one. Unfortunately we cannot refund her initial charge because all the work had been completed and she also recieved a wall plaque in which she was given an additional discount on her original purchase. We did however extend [redacted] a second year at no charge since health issues kept her from utilizing the membership throughout the first part. We had [redacted] who is our editor contact her to go over any other changes. The situation has been rectified and would have been without the need of a Revdex.com complaint. We now believe the situation to be resolved.

[Your Answer Here]
Although I appreciate the response from the Global Who's Who as to my refund, I have yet to receive this and until I do, I am not fully satisfied with the resolution. In my original complaint, I did not mention their failure to present my member profile correctly.  I did not know if I needed to file a second complaint for this.  I was told that I could make changes on their website to my biographical information, following the phone interview. I have done so repeatedly because there are spelling errors and my home address is listed. I don't want that available to anyone!  After submitting the changes to my profile, when I go back to look a few days later, the information is the same including the spelling errors!
If the corrections cannot be made on the website, then how can I expect my profile to be correct in their directory either? I want my membership cancelled and a refund for this as well.

[redacted], which we see took place yesterday.  It was further explained that all obligations on the company part will be fulfilled, and he will not be contacted for any future purchases.  We believe this matter is settled, and [redacted] stated he would notify the Revdex.com of his satisfaction with the resolution.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is less than satisfactory to me, but I do not think I will receive a better resolution from the company and I consider this matter has been resolved.  I may take additional steps to ensure others do not find themselves in a similar situation.

Review: I was sent an email stating this: Dear Subscriber, You were recently chosen as a potential candidate to represent your professional community in the 2014 Edition of GlobalWho'sWho. The premier networking org. for distinguished Professionals. Once finalized, your listing will share registry space with tens of thousands fellow accomplished indiv. across the globe, each representing accomplishment within their own geographical area. To verify your profile, and accept the candidacy, please click here. Okay, it sounded official. So, like a dummy, I clicked on it, gave them my name @ phone number, verified my email address, I began thinking this sounded fishy. I looked it up one the web, it said this was a scam, @ they will call you, asking for money. So, I tryed to e-mail them, BUT the email address they provided, which was [redacted] did not send. They pryed into my private life, wanted a short discription of myself, @ now I feel like a fool. Now, they have my personal info. @ will be calling me, @ I aint go time for this. These people need to be dealt with!!!! It couldn't be official because the email address they provided did not work. I just can't stand money hungry scammers!!!! I would like other folks to know, so they won't be scammed, @ if this is not official, THEY NEED TO BE STOPPED!!!! I feel like my privacy has been invaded, @ I'm sure others do as well. Thanks.Desired Settlement: To be able to stop SCAMMERS like this, slap a lawsuit on them, for prying, @ lying, @ scamming money off of law abiding citizens!!!!

Sincerely,

Review: Company repeatedly charges me for services that have been completed. Their services are clearly over-priced for the return on investment. On several occasions I have asked them if this is the final bill and they have said yes only to come back and say that what they meant was the final bill for that period. Believe their address has changed to [redacted]Desired Settlement: Want my rescission of membership to be recognized and cease trying to bill for a service I requested to be terminated.

Response:

Upon reciept of the complaint, we immediately contacted [redacted] to resolve the matter. We are pleased to inform that the situation has been resolved, [redacted] was never billed, will not be billed and was told he was not obligated to do so. As per the conversation, he was informed we will be in contact just to periodically update his biography. The matter was settled very amicably and it is our 100% commitment to provide our customers with outstanding customer service

Sincerely,

Review: High pressure sales for purchase of hard copy of directory. Received invoice for membership and order of directory which I did not agree to purchase. Invoice dated 2/**/14. Phoned Global on 3/**/14 to cancel this transaction, during which high pressure sales tactics utilized and I was charged $178.99. I was told to expect my copy in June. I have NOT received, yet I was charged more than 6 months ago.Desired Settlement: Refund full amount of $178.99. I do NOT want directory!

Business

Response:

After speaking with [redacted] and reviewing the account, he was most certainly surprised by the allegations. While it was aknowledged that [redacted] phoned in on March **, 2014, he simply explained that the directory was part of the membership which has a deferred payment approx 30-45 days after the initial charge. Further, [redacted] gave [redacted] a significant discount on the publication as the price is normally $229 plus shipping totalling $258.99. Also, [redacted] would not have told her the book would be ready in June because we just begun the new print cycle for this years directory. [redacted] also never called us back with any concerns or we would have addressed it directly with her. Nonetheless, we have no desire to pursue this any further and will refund the money as per her request. Once again, if we knew there was an issue we would have refunded the money regardless. The Global Directory of Whos Who is proudly closing out our 10th edition. We have 15,000 members worldwide and have conducted over 30,000 transactions. It is unfortunate we did not get a chance to rectify this issue directly with the customer, but unfortunately we had to be subject of a needless complaint. We are in the process or contacting the customer and the money will be refunded.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: I received an email from "Global Who's Who" advising me that I was nominated to join their organization. Upon clicking on the tab in the email regarding verification of my profile and acceptance, it directed me to their application form at the following URL

[redacted] On their web page it shows "Revdex.com accreditation"

I filled out information consisting of my contact information, then approximately a week later I received a phone call from [redacted] of Global Who's Who on 11/**/13, and completed my application process and paid a total of $1097.99 via credit card. During the phone call [redacted] advised me that they allow members to cancel their membership and receive refund as long as it is done within 3 days from the initial purchase. The following day 11/**/13, I decided to cancel the membership after findings out that the Revdex.com rated them as an "F." In addition to finding out that their recruitment is not based off of nominations, but simple payment of membership, i.e. anyone can sign up regardless of professional credentials. Thus I do not want to affiliate myself or my profession with their organization in any way. I contacted [redacted] and she forwarded me to [redacted], who advised me that he would only refund me $869.00 being that he needed to cover the cost of the time his employees put into my application. He preceded this by offering me two different (cheaper) membership plans, I refused both, and he would only refund me the amount as noted above and threw in a "complementary two-year membership with associated releases of their publication." Once realizing that I was getting no where I simply ended the conversation, accepting the two year membership, with the intent of canceling all membership ties, but [redacted] would not honor the complete refund policy.Desired Settlement: Refund of full ($1097.99) pending adjustment of the refund that they stated me of $869.00 once received by myself and conformation from my credit card company. I would then request the rest of the original amount which is $228.99.

Most of all I do not want any of my information (personal, professional, educational, etc.) published in any of their publications or used by their organization in any way.

Business

Response:

After speaking with [redacted], he was a bit surprised by the complaint because he felt the conversation was very pleasant and that Me. [redacted] was thanful for the refund. At no point did he sense any displeasure. He stated that he told him that the employee put a lot of time and effort into the biography and recommennded smaller, more affordable memberships to which he agreed. We immediately refunded the card and made the adjustment. If there was any sense of dissatisfaction, we would have made the full refund with no problem. If a customer calls to cancel a membership, as a matter of customer service and quality control, we try to see exactly what the issue is and perhaps we can rectify it. When its a matter of financial concern, we offer lower memberships costing less money to try and relieve and financial burden while keeping the customer. Nonetheless, we have a very liberal refund policy and the remainder of the money will be refunded. [redacted] will also be trying to call to clear up any misunderstandings and advise of the refund.

Review: SPAM!!!! This company states that is is a Revdex.com approved company and yet they CONTINUOUSLY spam our organization, pulling emails that don't even exist - thus pushing emails to the [redacted]. The only way to deal with this is to unsubscribe by entering in every email from the organization which would take many hours of of unpaid time for this small non profit. They are one of our WORST spammers!!!!Desired Settlement: They need to remove every email that ends in [redacted]. They need to reimburse us for our hours of wasted time (I believe CA law supports us in this). They need to change their process to allow a one push unsubscribe. I want a written apology.

Review: Who's who engaged in unethical and possibly fraudulent practices. The services offered were provided, but each subsequent phone call claimed I was committed to services I did not agree to. The original discussion held with who's who did not disclose fully any actual or implied future commitments for additional thousands of dollars. Subsequent phone conversations were alternated between my place of business and home. The second last call I took the time to document the discussion which made it clear I had no future commitment with who's who after making a payment. The last call was at my place of employment where I did not have access to my notes and the individual claimed I had committed to two such exhorbitant payments to end my obligations with who's who. The second last call included a cost savings supposedly of $1000.00 if I made payment using my checking account information over the phone. Previous payment options never included any mention of cost savings by this method and encouraged more expensive options for payment. The nature of complaint statement could include as many as 5 items in your drop down menu. This issue has been ongoing for years, but I will settle for resolution of the last two payments. I have no problem with the company immediately removing my information from their directory as part of the settlement. I strongly regret agreeing to any services provided by the company.Desired Settlement: I will halt further action if the last two payments are refunded ($2499.00 each) immediately and all communications from who's who cease. Anything short of this and I will take addtional action.

Review: I unsubscribed from their emailing but continue to be sent solicitations. When I try to unsubscribe again, I am advised in a computer dialog that I am already unsubscribed. When I reply to the originial message to request to have my name removed from their mailing list, I receive an email informing me their mail system could not deliver the email.Desired Settlement: I want to be taken off of their email list and I want them to ensure that email sent to the originating address from any email they send is accepted, read, and acted upon promptly.

Review: I have been receiving phone calls from "[redacted]" at telephone # 63###-###-#### demanding credit card information for my being listed as a "top director" in his "Global Directory of Who's Who"--I have told him I am not interested but he says that I have already been listed and therefore owe him and his directory moneyDesired Settlement: Additionally, if "[redacted]" at telephone # ###-###-#### has made any charges to me I want them cancelled

Business

Response:

We have tried to reach out to the customer and explain that no charge was made and that he was simply being offered a renewal. At no time was he told it was an obligation. Nonetheless, the desired outcome was that he was never charged and he has been made a do not call in our internal system. [redacted] was trying to call him back and applogize for any misunderstandings but was unable to do so.

Review: I was contacted by the gl.obal directory of who's who and charged $169 for a plaque and my name in a book, I never received eitherDesired Settlement: I want my money back.

Response:

We spoke with the member upon reciept of the complaint and advised that his plaque had been shipped and all other materials were resent. He was ok with that and aknowledged he would drop the complaint. The plaque was already in transit and slightly delayed by the Thanksgiving holiday. We consider the matter settled
