Globe Home Warranty does not issue reimbursement check.
We bought a house recently that was covered by Globe purchased by seller. Shortly after closing, AC unit broke down. Called Globe to reimburse us for repair done by the original installer of the unit Del-Air. This repair was approved by Globe and repair recipient was sent to Globe as instructed by their representative. We were notified claim was approved and check would be mailed within 4-6 weeks. 2 months now and no check received. Repeated calls to company always goes to voicemail where I always left name and number but no callback. Reading compliants from others here and other websites I have researched, it seems to be the same story, they do not honor warranty.

Desired Outcome

Reimbursement for repair done to AC unit

Globe Home Warranty is in receipt of your letter advising of the above referenced complaint. Reimbursement of Mr. claim is processed and the funds are cleared from our account. As with many companies, accounting processes payments net thirty or net forty five days. The funds were debited from our account as scheduled and the bank then forwards the payment via a bill pay system. The funds will arrive on or before ten days after being debited from the account. Payment was debited from our account a couple of weeks ago and if it is not received by the customer yet, it should arrive very soon.

Sincerely,
Claims Representative

1. A Check was received Oct 29, 2018 for only $120. Repair of the AC unit was $232.

2. Check received has a misspelling of my last name rendering the check uncashable.

As with many other complaints of Globe here on Revdex.com, Globe has used dishonest tactics and excuses to not honor their warranty.
Globe still will not answer phone, return calls or emails. I have contacted Florida State Attorney General and *** consumer complaint.

Only a full repair reimbursement which was approved by Globe will be acceptable.

We are in receipt of the consumer's response. The client states we have provided no explanation of the check which is incorrect. Please see the attached correspondence emailed to ***. It is date stamped as sent on November 26, 2018 at 11:47 AM. This correspondence gave him a full explanation of each of his issues.

With regards to the incorrect spelling of the client's name, please note this policy was submitted directly by the realtor online, with the policy holders name misspelled; we had no way of knowing that it was incorrect. When the service contract first went into effect, a welcome letter was sent to Mr. with instructions on creating a homeowner dashboard, so that any errors such as spelling could be corrected and he could review his coverage. This was disregarded. Mr. had every opportunity to create a homeowner dashboard and correct the spelling of his name; he did not do this.

Mr. initially notified us of a claim on his air conditioner on 8/20/2018. An invoice was submitted for the repair by Mr. on 8/22/18. At the time, we did honor his claim as a good faith effort, for the replacement of the defective capacitor component for the usual and customary amount in his area for this type of work. A reimbursement check for the repair was sent to Mr. well within our 60 day period, per policy from our accounting department.

Upon review, the invoice submitted by Mr. showed that he paid $79.00 for diagnostic of the air conditioner, $78.00 for replacement of the capacitor (a part that be purchased retail, for $17.20) and an additional $75.00 to cool down the compressor (this should not have been charged and this could be a way of padding a bill). Cooling down a compressor is not covered by the service contract, as this is not a mechanical failure. There is also a service fee due on every claim that Mr. makes, which was deducted from his reimbursement amount. Our share should have been for $82.00 after deducting Mr. $75.00 service fee from his reimbursement ($79.00 Diagnostic + $78.00 Capacitor - $75.00 Service fee = $82.00 reimbursement).

A further review of his claim was performed upon receipt of this service request and it has been discovered that it should not have been covered. This is due to the fact that Mr. had called out his own service provider without the express consent of Globe Home Protection. Mr. had his air conditioner repaired without company approval. Please refer to the service contract, page 7 (7) "Globe Home Protection is not responsible for expenses incurred by the contract holder without the express consent of GHP. Do not call out a contractor yourself. You will not be reimbursed. If the contract holder calls out their own contractor, with the consent of GHP, the contractor must contact GHP prior to any work performed. GHP will only reimburse what is usual and customary for that repair or what GHP could have had the repair done for..." Globe Home Protection was never given the opportunity to send an approved service provider to check the system. Mr. took it upon himself to repair the system, without authorization, approval or consent from Globe Home Protection.

Based on the findings outlined above, this claim should not have been covered. Even though this should not have been a covered claim, Globe Home Protection will honor the failure of the capacitor. Another check will be reissued with the corrected spelling of his name and the correct amount.

Sincerely,
Claims Representative

I have received and deposited the $82 that Globe mailed and consider this matter closed.

For the record, no welcome letter was ever sent explaining about a dashboard or anything else.

The person from Globe who took my claim over the phone gave me authorization to use *** even after I already scheduled the service with ***. I could have canceled the service with *** had I been instructed to, however the person from Globe agreed getting someone here quickly in August with 90+ degree days was imperative. However I did not record the conversation so I have no way of proving this.

This matter could have been settled much easier had Globe responded to my phone voicemail messages, my email messages or if their chat feature worked on their website.

When Warranty bought the sales person was asked specifically if water sourced heat pumps were covered. The sales person said they were covered. Conman
When Warranty bought on 1/16/18 the sales person was asked specifically if water sourced heat pumps were covered. The sales person said they were covered. Now when I try to file a claim of AC unit, the service manager refuses to honor their agreement and repair the units piping. There have not been any claims filed previously. He only offers a prorated refund on this fraudulent policy. They lie about what they cover to get the sail but refuse to keep their agreements. This is bait & switch this is outright FRAUD!

Desired Outcome

Either do the repair on the piping or provide complete refund.

Re: Case #***

Globe Home Warranty is in receipt of your letter advising of the above referenced complaint. It is clearly stated in all of our literature; the brochure, the warranty contract and online that geothermal systems/ water sourced piping and components are not covered by the warranty plan. On the first page of the agreement or contract, it states in bold type, page one, number one, under "Air Conditioning (All Plans)...Not Covered: Window units, portable units gas units including ammonia systems...geothermal systems and water source piping and components".

It is prominently indicated in all of our materials that this type of system is not covered. Our system shows that this warranty was purchased online. Please find the attached form signed by the client, Mr., acknowledging that he understands and agrees with the agreement he is purchasing. The signed form also states our cancellation policy, which is signed by the client indicating that he understands and agrees.

The purchase of my home included a home warranty by Globe Home Protection that covered major appliances. In November 2017, our microwave (wall unit above the stove) went out so I filed a claim with the warranty company. They immediately sent out a technician to determine if it could be repaired but they concluded that it needed to be replaced. I was told that I should buy a new microwave and email the receipt to them. The receipt was emailed on 12/2/2017 and I was told that it would take 4-6 weeks to receive a check in the mail. I never received anything. When I called the claims department, they sent me to the "accounting department" which NEVER answers their phone. Since February 2018, I have called accounting at least once a month and left a voicemail (because no one ever answers)and I have never received a call back nor have I received the check. It is clear that they have no intention of paying me since it has already been 6 months, but the warranty guarantees payment and I did everything I was instructed to do. I just want to be paid for my microwave now!

Desired Outcome

Refund Payment for the microwave that I purchased and submitted a claim for....6 months ago!

They claimed that they had they wrong address for the warranty so they could not send the check. I think that this is false because the warranty is ONLY tracked by the address. Anytime you call, they don't even ask for your name, they ask for the address that the warranty is linked to and process claims from that. When they called me to follow up (after receiving this complaint), I missed the call and no one left a message! When I called back they gave me the story about the wrong address and also claimed that it was only in my husband's name. After I provided them with the correct address, they said that I should receive the check in the mail in 7-10 days. 12 days later and still no check....

Globe denied a claim to fix my a/c unit and will not provide documentation supporting they're claim
Globe sent a contractor ( Dr chilled air or tri-county services) to my house to look at my a/c unit. The contractor gave us a hand written invoice stating our compressor was locked up but nothing stating why. Globe informed us that the contractor told them that a frog on our capacitor caused a short which caused our compressor to lock up. In our contract Globe only repairs or replaces appliances that break under normal wear and tear, that a frog is considered a pest and voides the warranty. Myself and my wife have both emailed globe over half a dozen times asking for the documentation that the contractor provided globe stating the frog caused a short and still have not received said documentation. I have also had a 2nd contractor look at my a/c unit, they came to the same conclusion that the compressor was locked up, however the service tech stated that the frog had nothing to due with it that he sees dead frogs, lizards etc all the time in the units.
I also found 2 gentleman whom both have over 50 yrs experience and are licensed HVAC mechanics whom disagree with Globes findings. I forwarded a letter they wrote me stating this and globe disregarded it because it didn't have a header, even though he included his lic #.
Globe has sent me 3 pieces of literature 2 of which state how a failed or failing capacitor(my capacitor was tested and is in good working order) can burn up a compressor and 1 which states that short cycling can cause a compressor to burn up. I informed globe that both they're and my contractor determined that my compressor was locked up not burnt up. Globe still wouldn't reverse they're decision and haven't provided any documentation supporting they're claim.
I feel that due to lack of evidence supporting globes stance that they should honor the warranty and have my a/c unit fixed.

Desired Outcome

I would like for globe home warranty to honor my warranty and have repair or replce my a/c unit.

Globe Home Warranty is in receipt of your letter advising of the above referenced complaint. In completing a full review of this claim it has come to our attention that the compressor is under manufacture warranty. The manufacture has been contacted and it has been confirmed that the compressor has a 10 year warranty. We have also verified that registering the compressor is not necessary to qualify for coverage from the manufacturer.

As the component is covered by the manufacturer, this coverage will supersede the home warranty coverage. Please note page 6 of the Plan, "Should any systems, appliances or components covered by this contract be covered by other insurance, warranties or guarantees, this warranty will not apply." The client has been notified of the status of this claim. We encourage the client to act quickly in order to take advantage of the manufacture warranty; as it is set to expire shortly.

I have reached out to the manufacturer and my compressor is in fact still under warranty. However I would still like to receive the documentation that was provided to globe home protection from Dr chilled air/tri-county services in regards to my a/c unit. I have tried to to reach out to both the contractor and globe home protection several times with no luck. It seems as if globe home protection was deliberately misleading me with what they say the contractor told them as to why my a/c unit failed. If the contractor did in fact state what globe home protection has claimed they did, then why isn't either company willing to provide any documentation. My concern is that globe home protection may have done this with other clients of theirs in the past to avoid having to pay a claim. If globe home protection does have said documentation I would like to still receive this information. If not I would like a explanation as to why I was led to believe otherwise.

I want to now why globe home protection was deliberately misleading me & how many other people this had happened to my claim me be covering by another warranty but before this information was found out globe lied to me about the cause of my a/c unit failure. I want them investigated to find out how many other people have been lied to about issues so that globe could get out of paying a claim. If I'm. It satisfied with the next response my next course of action will be going to channel*** news to make this public. What globe has done is wrong.

I am a senior citizen who purchased a home with Globe Home Protection for the home and appliances last June.

After unsuccessfully resolving a covered refrigerator issue in January of this year, they said they would pay me up to the cost of the cost of a service call of repairs - which the technical estimated to be $700. They would not put this in writing and said that I had to buy a refrigerator and give them proof of purchase before they would reimburse anything.

This after several attempts to let them know the refrigerator wasn't working and they wouldn't come to fix it before it completely broke down.

Since the refrigerator wasn't working, I did buy a refrigerator and sent them proof of purchase, which they acknowledge that they got. They said that the reimbursement would take 4-6 weeks.

It has been more than that and they do not return phone calls. I have called several times with no return phone calls an lots of prior hassle just attempting to get the issue addessed. I believe this company to be a scam that merely takes money from clients and then does little in return to honor its contract

I am looking for my promised reimbursement for the refrigerator and to also call attention to a company whom I believe is taking advantage of their out-of-state location to not fulfill any contractual obligations.

Please help me find a way to recoup some of the money I paid to get a refrigerator when they should have fixed the one that came with the my home and which was covered by the warranty.

Happy to discuss further and give more details than can be written down.

Desired Outcome

Refund Reimbursement of money promised, $700 since they could not fix the refrigerator.

Globe Home Warranty (GHW) is in receipt of the above referenced complaint and a full review has been completed. GHW was contacted with regards to the client's refrigerator and an independent network service provider was dispatched to diagnose the unit. It was found that the overload capacitor/start relay had failed and the compressor had failed. The claim was reviewed and approved and the parts were placed on order. The parts arrived and the technician returned to the home to complete the repairs however the compressor received was an incorrect part. It was unfortunate that this had happened but, when dealing with parts companies this on occasion may occur.

Globe Home Warranty ordered the correct part and set it up to be picked up from the warehouse. The technician reported to GHW that while at the property Mr. Dunn was aggressive and made the technician very uncomfortable. He stated he would not do any more work at the home and refused to return to complete the repair.

When a situation like this occurs GHW reserves the right to have the client complete the work on their own, for reimbursement of what it would have cost GHW for the job to be completed. The claim went through a review period as it was being determined whether or not the client's behavior towards the service provider constituted a refusal of service. A payment has been forwarded to Mr. Dunn and the claim has been closed as accepted and paid.

I have a homeowners warranty on a property I purchased 4/1/2017 and had claims for repair of covered items for pool and garage door opener that were repaired and company refused to cover even though the damages incurred during the average period

Desired Outcome

No settlement requested - for I contacted the company and they would not pay for expenses incurred to repair the pool and garage door since they did not authorize the repair. I used the pool company they services my pool and I replaced the garage door opener myself. They should recognize the need for reimbursement.

Globe Home Warranty (GHW) is in receipt of the above referenced complaint and a full review has been completed. GHW was contacted only one time with regards to issues at the property. The client attempted to submit two claims after his home warranty period had already expired. The client also did not call into the company to submit the claims when the problems occurred. Mr. did not contact GHW for assistance. Instead he completed the work himself without contacting his warranty company. He repaired the issues himself without the approval of GHW.

Mr. did not contact us and instead completed the work himself without company approval. Mr. also did not report the issues during his policy period. Globe Home Warranty (GHW) is in receipt of Mr. response. Claims must be submitted to the claims department so that we may dispatch a contractor and determine coverage. Per the terms of the contract, a client is not able to complete any work they wish and then submit receipts at a later date for reimbursement. The claim must be called in at the time of failure and the claims department must be able to process the claim for coverage.

All claims must also be submitted during the policy period. Mr. did not contact GHW until after his home warranty had expired. In this case the client completed various repairs at his property, without notifying the warranty company of his issues and completed repairs, until after his warranty had expired. The company is not able to extend coverage as claims procedures were not followed. This information is clearly indicated in all materials and is standard in the warranty industry.

We closed on our house in February of 2017 and moved in in March we paid for a home warranty for $499.00 and the company is global home protection. In June of 2017 our air condition stop working, we called global protection for them to come out , they came out my husband *** was home I left a check there for $75.00 and the technician came out now it was over 100 degree in our house the technician came and just look at it now our air condition in outside on the wall not the ground so you have to have a ladder to get up there he didn't have that , so I called my husband he said all the guy did was looked at it and he didn't leave a work order stating what he saw nor did he ask for a check. So I called them and ask the clerk that answered the phone she said that the claim adjuster closed the case an I ask her why the air condition is not fix an it hot in here she said nothing can be done so we went back and forth so I ask to speak with the manager he got on the phone and stated the same thing the cases is closed I try to explain to him that it is hot in here so he said no one was coming out because case is closed and he hung up the phone on me so my husband call an ask to speak with him he talk to my husband so rudely an hung up the phone on him ,so we called another air condition company they came out and they check it out and it needed a capacitor so they put the part on. So I filed a complaint with insurance commissioner an they they answer them so professionally that they made it seem like they did everything that they did they told the insurance commissioner that they came out and that the air condition needed cleaning and the contract page states that it not covered well first of all we never received a contract from them the only thing we have is the page in our closing file they never contacted us and if the air conditioner needed cleaning why didn't the other company see the same thing so they cancel our account but we paid $499.00 for a year service the company

Globe Home Warranty (GHW) is in receipt of your letter advising of the above referenced complaint. A review of the file has been completed and we see that the facts presented in this complaint are very different from the complaint submitted to the consumer services division.

A vendor was dispatched to the client's home and found the unit to be running properly and had no mechanical failures. The warranty coverage is for mechanical failures only.

The only issues found were that the system needed a thorough cleaning and that the air intake was too large, bypassing the filter, and needed to be modified. These issues are not covered by the warranty contract as they are not mechanical failures. The contract states on page 1 (1. Air Conditioning, Not Covered)" ...cleaning and/or routine maintenance. Mechanical breakdown caused by lack of cleaning and/or routine maintenance..." The homeowner never disputed these findings with Globe Home Warranty Company. Please see the attached diagnostic received from the licensed service provider.

Ms. had a service fee due per claim that she was responsible for, which she refused to pay. A charge-back invoice was issued and mailed to the home. Four monthly invoices were also emailed to the client in attempts to collect the service fee due. This invoice was never paid. Per the terms of the warranty contract. It's great that finally I've gotten any response from the company. I've been told multiple times by Alex the sales manger some would contact me, but it never happened.

Anyway I was also told multiple times by several different claims adjusters that the entire amount submitted would be honored. Before I made the rapair I called and asked. I was told it would be covered. Also this was a emergency visit it was going down to single digits and I was told you were unable to find someone to come look at it. Was I supposed to just wait until someone came and fixed it?

I also know I was never told it was the fair repair from a fairy set of had chosen non licensed contractors. Since you fail to site your source on the repair. I believe you are making the numbers up. You can call the contractor yourself and ask what the fair cost of a job is here. Please I emplor you to do your job and look into it.

Now you go back on your word I think the least you could do is refund my 500$ for the cost of the warrenty. That way I can buy one from a reputable company.

It would be easier if someone called and explained it to me, instead you hide behind the internet like a child on 4chan.

Re: Revdex.com Complaint Case# ***

Globe Home Warranty (GHW) is in receipt of the client's response. Works performed during normal business hours are not charged on an emergency basis/overtime rates. Overtime rates are not charged during normal business hours and Mr. was not charged after-hour rates. It is assumed the client is bringing up the after-hours/emergency service section of the contract to try and justify the exaggerated amount he paid. This further supports that he paid much more than he should have for the work performed and he clearly recognizes this fact. This work was not performed, nor was he charged after-hours/overtime rates as all work was completed during normal business hours.

The claim was accepted and approved for reimbursement per the terms of the contract. At no time in the submitted chat session did the representative state Mr. would receive the inflated amount submitted. It is unfortunate that Mr. was taken advantage of but GHW cannot be held responsible for this and the contract clearly states on page 6, number 9 that the company "reserves the right to pay cash in lieu of repair or replacement in the amount of GHW's actual cost to repair or replace such item". At no time was Mr. told that he had a blank check with which to complete his repairs. The claim was accepted for reimbursement per the terms of the contract. GHW is not responsible for Mr. decision to accept a quote that is more than double what most would pay for the work he had completed.

Still haven't received any phone call. These company is one of the worst, if you are reading this from the several reviews I have left. Let it be known you will never a get a phone call back. As I am a honest person I will certainly edit reviews and update this claim if I ever get called.

And to the person whom is answering this, it is clear you didn't listen to the voice recordings from your agents, as in those recordings you will hear them saying the exact amount was covered. You are hiding behind false claims and refuse to do your homework. Please upload all audio recordings, I give my consent please prove me wrong.

I work in IT for a living I know unless your IT is grossly negligent, I know the audio recordings are easy to access and I know if you cared you would have listened to them by now. Please embarrass your company and upload the voice recordings so you can show the world how poorly you treat your customers, once again I give you my consent.

Until then, hopefully you have some karma come your way for all the misfortune you wish upon hard working people.

Have a great weekend

My name is Angel. Globe helped me with a problem I was having and were a good help. I had a pipe that was leaking in my basement. A very big problem because it leaked when a toilet was flushed or a sink used. This stops everything from being used in the house when you have this problem. I called them and spoke with someone that took my claim. He spent time making sure it was not a pipe leak from freezing. I am guessing they don't help with that problem. They said they would treat it like an emergency. A plumber called me maybe 3 hours later but he could not come until the next day. We have a terrible weather now and it is hard to travel. So he came and I showed him what my problem and he called the warranty. After he worked for some time to fix the problem and ran all of the sinks and toilets when he was done. My problem was solved with the help of the plumber and Globe. A good clean up down in my basement and everything is back to normal. I experience the value of the service and will try and keep it next year.

If I can choose again, I will not use globe home warranty. 24 hours and 7 days service is a joke. You can only reach someone for help Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm. Their customer service provide inconsistent messages. The service technician came over to diagnose the issue and decided to turn down the job just because customer service told me to ask them to verify if the problem is solved before the technician leaves. The technician turned down the job again when I mentioned I would like to call Globe home warranty just in case if you have any questions onsite. We were threatened for multiple times throughout the conversations and feel unsafe. Furthermore, I called the home warranty mentioned the technician turned down the job, they told me I have to stick with the technician or find another contractor and they will reimburse the replacement cost up to $125 MINUS the $75 service fee. They also told us that the technician can do whatever they want. We don't think we were treated like customer and feel like we are their burden to the home warranty company and service technician. They tried to charge you $75 service fee multiple times for different issues of the same appliance/equipment. The whole process is very slow and ridiculous. Stay away from this Globe home warranty company.

We were visiting our condo in Orlando last month and had the pleasure of using Globe's services. In California home warranties are a way of life as everyone has them on their properties so we always make sure we renew the condo's coverage yearly. We were in town visiting the Mouse when our refrigerator died on day 3 of the trip. I Called into Globe and let them know our situation and asked for service ASAP. They had a repair man out the following morning. Luckily we had minimal food in it and were mainly using it for drinks and snacks. The Globe reps are very thorough and had given him the manufacturer and the model so he came out with the parts needed. The gentleman replaced what he needed and placed the refrigerator back in service. Everything went off without a hitch and it was an efficient process that only took a couple of hours out of our time. After that it was off to the parks again to finish our annual vacation. We don't use the warranty every year but it is nice to have it to fall back on especially since we are not from there and would not know who to call.

A quick call to Globe and they run with it from there with as little impact on your trip as possible. We keep a warranty on all of our homes.

I would never recommend this company, period. I purchased a home this fall and the sellers secured a warranty with them as an incentive to me, the buyer. As with all warranties, you don't know what you have until you have to use it and immediately, upon move in, I found myself in a situation not of my doing and needed to use the warranty. Basically, the seller disconnected power a week prior to closing so on my day of move in, I could not perform a walk through (no electricity). We soon discovered a burned out power box to the HVAC (covered by warranty, right?) and my agent called an electrician to come fix it so we would be able to keep on schedule. Well, via my agent after closing and after I'd paid for the problem to be fixed, I entered a claim and then I waited... and waited... and waited. The worst customer service I've ever experienced. I called and no one would return a phone call. Is it too much to call and request an update as to the status of my claim? My agent reached out and they immediately responded...huh? I"m the home owner. After waiting four months for a full refund as I was told the charges incurred would be refunded, I instead get a lengthy email forwarded to me by agent explaining what the company will not cover. Yep, essentially not covering an issue that happened on the day of move in BEFORE closing... the check was was for less than 1/4 of the full payment. It was bad enough that I dealt with a very shady closing and that upon move in, I had to pay for problems incurred by the home owner (this power box was one of three issues), but to have this kind of unprofessional encounter as a new client is unacceptable. I just can't say enough about doing your homework and if a seller offers you this warranty, decline it.

We were hired via thumbtack from Randy S representing Globe Home Protection and said would pay via credit card for our services. We diagnosed the issue at claim number*** and sent the bill of $149.00 and this was on 12/1/2017 and they knew that we won't bill for services and only take credit card. They continue to tell me someone will call and they will give me a credit card over the phone. No one has called. The only call I received was about our service to the claim number and what our diagnoses was and was very rude! I cannot reach anyone concerning this . No email or anything. I have read other complaints and I see others have had the same issue. I feel this is a scam to get a diagnoses on appliances so they don't have to pay and then don't pay the vendor that did the work! I only want my bill for services paid! I have all conversation on Thumbtack as needed to verify all of this!

Dear ***,

Globe Home Warranty (GHW) is in receipt of your letter advising of the above referenced complaint. I have completed a review of this issue. GHW contracted with *** Home Services to provide a diagnostic on a refrigerator. The mutually agreed upon amount to perform the diagnostic was $59.00. The service provider arrived to the property and recommended the refrigerator needed to be replaced. No work was completed and this contractor forwarded an invoice for $149.00. This is not the agreed upon amount and we refuse to allow the contractor to pad their invoice and attempt to charge three times the agreed upon amount. This is an unacceptable practice and we have placed the additional fees they claim is owed in dispute. We have informed the owner, ***, that this is unacceptable and unethical, by phone, email and our website's chat feature. We have forwarded a check in the amount of our standard service call amount and *** Home Services has cashed the check.

Let me reiterate the agreed upon amount for the diagnostic only is $59. This company is attempting to charge three times the agreed amount and we are placing the additional funds they claim we owe in dispute. No work was competed at the home as the recommendation was to replace the unit. This type of unethical practice is not acceptable and we will not be taken advantage of by this company.

Sincerely,
Claims Representative
Globe Home Warranty Company

I bought my first house this year and I was provided a home warranty through Globe. They have been very good to me so far. I have had to call in with two problems this year and they have been helpful. I have been lucky because I bought a pretty nice house. I tried to do everything right when I bought the house and had everything checked out with an inspector. I bought their best plan as well. I'm sure it helped me with my claims. Anyways, I had an AC problem and they were out the same day. It does not get any better than same day service. The contractor changed a motor and I looked at the ticket he left and they spent a pretty penny. The Globe representatives were great as far as they handled all of the logistics and followed up with me and the contractor until it was done. Pretty good in my book.

The last thing that broke was my disposal. The thing just stopped and was humming like something was stuck. Called it into Globe again and a plumber set my appointment for later in the week. They sent a plumber that I see their trucks all over town. When he came out he just put another one in. He told me that they just aren't worth fixing.

So that's my story with Globe. I am happy with the service received. Good enough to take a minute and let people know about it. Thanks.

Hello. I am writing this review out of genuine concern for consumers who need accurate up to date information. It is written in hopes that this saves many people from spending their hard earned money on these policies. While we had never heard of anyone actually benefiting from them, we tried it out and now we have our own proof. My wife and I purchased the Stellar Plan (the most inclusive one) after hearing about it from our realtor (who has since "not" renewed with them or any other plan after trying them and having many problems getting any kind of reimbursement). I have always heard from reputable people on the news and radio never to purchase one of these, but against my opinion, my wife insisted for "peace of mind" after purchasing a home in Florida several years ago. Hence, we have had the Stellar Plan 2 years with no claims, until now.
1)Claim issue: our home was built in 2006 and our kitchen sink faucet broke. We called Globe, per their stated advertising, that all you have to do is call them, they send someone out for a service fee ($75), to diagnose, repair and /or replace the broken item. So with the plan, you are "supposed to have comfort in knowing that the most it will cost is $75 if something breaks." Here is what will really happen to you:

We called Globe to make the report on the broken faucet. During that call, they said, "Great! You have a Moen faucet. You have been designated to call your own vendor." They told my wife to call her own plumber. (? First scam indicator) She expressed confusion on this, as the Stellar Plan is the best one you can purchase and they said: "You can call the plumber of your choosing, they will come out and then you will submit your paperwork to us via text pic or email to underwriting for review. She further questioned this process, as it was not how we were sold the policy. Globe stated: "It only takes a day for us to review, and then you will get your reimbursement that way." We explained that when we signed up, we were told that for a $75 fee, they would send a technician/vendor to look at an item in need of repair and take care of it from there. After going around and around with this newly described process, my wife asked "Do you have a list of Vendor Plumbers to call then, that you approve of?" (Foreseeing that if we used someone they didn't approve of, our claim might be denied.) They said "No, we don't have any Vendors or people for you to call (Scam Indicator #2). There is no list. My wife contacted a licensed plumber, had them come out, and the faucet was completely broken. Since we knew at this point our Moen faucet was under warrantee, my wife had to contact Moen herself to replace. Moen said it would be $59 to send a new faucet. It being the Holidays with family in town and needing a kitchen sink, the plumber hooked up a leaky faucet we happened to have had on hand, thank goodness. We paid the full plumbing fee ourselves, and the fee to replace the faucet temporarily. (At this point it was $281 plus $59 for the new "warranteed faucet." We are awaiting the return of the plumber, with another full fee to install the new 'warranted Moen" faucet. We immediately submitted the claim to Globe, and they immediately denied it. My wife called Globe, after seeing on-line that is was denied in the customer portal. Not only was it denied, but we took a picture of the screen in the customer portal where it shows they recorded a $75 service fee to us, when they actually never had anyone come out! They claimed they couldn't see that on their end so we took a screen shot of it for proof. My wife called to question the denial and they acted like this was a common thing to deny, stating "Oh, we never fix any kind of item that has any kind of warrantee attached to it ever." She wasn't told this when she first called to make the claim on day one.(Scam indicator #3).
So the final conclusion is that for something as simple as a kitchen faucet, you will be hosed. After doing some more looking into, Globe has information on all kinds of appliance warrantee data that you might not be aware of, that they use to deny claims. For example, if you bought a home from a seller who the initial warrantees of any appliances are attached to, they wont cover. This is probably everyone who buys a home, as the second buyer, of that home. They make their money from the newbie's like us who haven't yet been afflicted by the scam. I'm sure from time to time, they must have to throw a few bones out to get a couple good reviews and to stay in business. However, Globe's money is being made by newbie's to the scam who are none the wiser. If we had not spent the money on this policy for 2 years, and just paid our own repairs, we would have more money in the bank right now. Don't buy a policy. The experts have always said you are better off to just take the money you would have paid on a policy and put it in the bank, as a repair fund!
True!

" NOT WORTH THE PAPER IT'S WRITTEN ON"
Globe Home Warranty came with our house contract, this was NOT our choice in companies to begin with. Extremely rude call center associates, poor communication between Globe and contractors, denial of claims with zero explanation and to top if off we have never got the same answer twice. No one has helped us one bit at this company after repeated attempts to fix issues within the Globe Home contract guidelines. We were actually laughed at by a customer service representative when we voiced concern that people actually pay money for Globe Home warranty. Please don't waste your time.

Globe is refusing to compensate for an oven covered under their home warranty that was purchased. Globe has acknowledged numerous times that it is covered and has sent technicians to repair it, however when it was deemed irreparable Globe changed course and refused to pay for replacement per their home warranty, string that the oven isn't covered.

Dear ***,

I am in receipt of ***'s response. Mr. has received the full amount due for the reimbursement. It was explained to the client that he is able to purchase any brand and model of double oven he prefers. Globe Home Warranty (GHW) is required to reimburse what is usual and customary for Globe to pay for a comparable double oven to the one that is being replaced. Please see the attached documentation taken from the website of GHW's supplier network indicating the price of a comparable double oven. The client has received the full amount due.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The price that globe is providing is for a floor model refurbished oven. I was told over the phone that refurbished ovens would not be covered under Globe's warranty. Additionally, the $1074.93 price does not account for delivery (noted at $264.74 where that oven is available cheapest) nor does it account for install or removal of the previous oven. The cheapest price for a NEW oven which is the only that would be covered under warranty is $1599 for that model. Again, that is the price without shipping, install, and removal of the old oven.

On top of all this, globe REFUSED to tell me the reimbursable price prior to me purchasing the oven. My instructions were that they would not do that and could only calculate the reimbursement value AFTER having purchased the oven.

I am simply asking for the price of my purchased oven, the total for which was 2,002.45 excluding shipping, install, etc.

Let it not be forgotten that I provided receipt for reimbursement as requested on July 19th, after which Globe refused/delayed any reimbursement for months and only ended up getting me the check on November 28th.

Dear ***,

Globe Home Warranty (GHW) is in receipt of your letter advising of the above referenced complaint. A review of the file has been completed. *** contacted the claims department to report that her furnace was not working. This furnace was checked prior to her purchasing the home and prior to the home warranty being active. At that time the furnace was described as follows: "Major Concern, Repair, Safety Issue: The furnace heat exchanger was corroded and damaged. This condition is a carbon monoxide safety risk. A qualified service technician or utility company representative should be engaged Immediately. In most cases the furnace is replaced rather than repaired".

The client was informed that the heat exchanger in the furnace was damaged which is a safety risk and that the unit should be replaced prior to purchasing the home and prior to the warranty going in effect. The client has informed us that she did not address or take any action with regards to the furnace condition she was informed of prior to closing. This makes the furnace condition a condition she was aware of prior to the home warranty being in place. Known pre-existing conditions are excluded by the home warranty industry. The client cannot purchase a warranty for coverage once she becomes aware a new furnace is needed. The failure must occur during the active policy period.

Coverage was explained to the client on November 7, twice on November 8 and again on November 9, 2017. An explanation was also emailed to her on November 8. We have made every attempt to inform the client of the status of her claim and have given her, on multiple occasions a full explanation of her coverage in response to her dispute.

Customer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept this response due to the fact that globe home warranty sold a warranty after thinspection of the property was done. Globe home warranty did not ask for a copy of the inspection report nor did they send out a representative of their company to inspect the property before selling a warranty for the property as such they are responsible for rendering services on a warranty they sold.

Dear ***,

I am in receipt of ***'s response and Globe Home Warranty's (GHW) position remains the same. It is a fact that the furnace was known to have failed and in need of replacement or major repair prior to closing on the property and the warranty taking effect. This excludes it from coverage.

As stated in our standard brochure, website and contract, with regards to the client's Four Star Plan, "This coverage includes only those systems, appliances and components that were in place at time of closing as part of the real estate transaction, in proper operating condition and does not include such conditions that cause a covered item to fail which, after prudent investigation it is determined, existed prior to contract effective date". GHW has provisions in certain plans to cover Unknown Pre-existing Conditions however, the client did not elect to purchase this coverage and it is clear the client knew of the furnace's poor condition prior to purchasing the warranty and coverage going into effect.

While it is the intent of the home warranty to offer as much coverage as possible, coverage is not all inclusive and there are limitations which are standard in the home warranty industry.

Sincerely,
Claims Representative
