Glotfelty Tire Center Reviews (%countItem)

On 8/13/2018, I took my 2011 Hyundai Sonata to Glofelty for a tire rotation and I requested they check the rotors. The Sales Manager came back and reported that all 4 rotors and pads needed replaced and it would cost me $550 dollars. This price was more than I expected; however, pressed for time to get a 2nd opinion, I agreed to wait while they replaced them. I have since researched the price of rotors and pads for a 2011 Hyundai and I have discovered parts alone cost $150-$175 (Glotfelty price, $550 to replace including labor). 45 minutes later, the Sales Manager returned and told me the mechanic broke a "spindle" when trying to get tire off and that the part would cost me an additional $300 dollars and that my car would not be available for minimum 2 days.

My complaint is the part that was broken (spindle) is not my responsibility. Though unexpected, the cost of the part broken by the business is not part of my service agreement. Additionally, I do not have a car for a minimum of 2 days and no offer was made for a free rental. Lastly, the parts for rotors and pads for a 2011 Hyundai Sonata run roughly $150-$175 (an extra ordinarily high price of $550 to replace with labor).

ANSWERING YOUR INQUIRY ABOUT A COMPLAINT BY ***. SHE ASKED ME TO CHECK HER BRAKES AND I CHECKED THEM OUT AND WE CAME TO CONCLUSION THAT SHE NEEDS BRAKES AND ROTORS ALL AROUND. I GAVE HER A PRICE OF 275.0 FOR FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS AND LABOR AND 275.0 FOR REAR SAME. WHILE WE WERE TAKING CALIPER OFF LEFT REAR THE EAR ON THE SPINDLE WHERE BRAKE CALIPER BOLT GOES IN BROKE OFF. BUT AS YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE SPINDLE HAD SOME REALLY BAD WEAR ON IT AND THAT EAR WAS PREVIOUSLY DAMAGED ; SO IT WAS WEAKENED AND SNAPPED OFF. IT IS VERY THIN ALUMINUM.

The piece that broke off was not received at the shop broken. It was broken at the shop by the shop. I expected the shop to pay for the part they broke. I have since picked up my car, paid for the service and the broken part.

I went in for a MD vehicle inspection. It was clear my car had heavy tint in the windows. Instead of alerting me to this fact they ran the inspection knowing it would fail. They charged me $100 and then told me I had 30 days to get it reinspected. But what I did not know is that it was or within 1000 miles. There is apparently a fine print sentence at the bottom of the form but the tech only told me I had 1 month but did not tell me or 1000 miles. The tech also didn't explain the results and I had to call the shop to find out what I had to do to be in compliance. Now I have to pay for a brand new inspection. When I told the service manager I was not informed about the 1000 miles but only the 1 month he blamed me for not listening carefully enough and said I would have pay for an entirely new inspection. I feel misled and robbed of $100 and want an investigation as to how often this happens and how many others get misled. A respectable business would tell me all if the conditions up front and not blame the customer for not listening. I am smart and aware and had I known I had to do it within 1000 miles then I would have. He made no offer to discount a second inspection and he was insulting and defended his technician in spite of admitting he was not present. Does this business really make its money from taking $100 from people who move from out of state and are unaware of the laws? I moved from *** and was unaware of the laws and they knew that. I'm shocked to find such careless people in such a small town. The form they gave me had fine print of 6 point font on the bottom. He told me about the month but did not tell me about the 1000 miles. Anyone can make a mistake. But why was I denied consideration and another inspection? Why did the service manager refuse to help me? Because I didn't order a full set of tires? I think they hid the information or are just bad communicators.Location: Date Sent: 1/17/2018 1:11:01 PM

I decline this offer because 1. This should have been offered to me when I was there. 2. This would mean I give them more money. 3. If the tech were a true expert he should have been able to eyeball a dark tint. 4. I asked a few other inspectors who said they inform of grave violations before the inspection. 5. The charge was excessive and no true expert needs a machine to see a 9 percent tint. 6. I already went elsewhere to a friendlier business and they charged me $75 only. 7. I remember what I heard and the person who checked me out did not tell me about the 1k miles or to read any fine print so I still believe this was bad business practice. See number 2. I specifically asked about another $100 fee and that was the time to make this offer. The bottom line is my windows were very dark and to anyone in *** in the inspection industry it would be as obvious as a muffler dragging on the ground. To choose to run the inspection 5 days before Christmas and not make it clear to me about the 1k miles is simply bad business and bad customer service and no amount of distraction about *** law is going to convince me otherwise.
