Go Spanish Now Reviews (2)

Review: I paid $129 for a series of classes on July 21, 2014 using my [redacted] account. I went to the first class on July 26, 2014. It was too easy. I rescinded our contract pursuant to contract terms by email on the day of the first class. I wrote the president, Enrique S[redacted] and sent multiple emails to the administrative staff. Spanish Now was uncommunicative, until July 29. On July 29, I received an email offering me the opportunity to transfer the tuition that I had paid to a more advanced class. In an email, I declined the offer. I stated I wanted a refund made to my [redacted] account. After leaving more voice mail messages in the Spanish Now mailbox, I was finally able to reach a person in the Spanish Now office by phone on August 8, 2014. I was informed that my refund would be made that day. I was also told that I would receive a call back if the reimbursement could not be made. A refund has not been made. No one called me August 8.

My contract has now been rescinded for two weeks. There is no reason that my money could not have been refunded via [redacted] as soon as I rescinded the contract.Desired Settlement: I want to be refunded $129 to my [redacted] account immediately.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:I do not think the facts are represented well. I posted a complaint on the Revdex.com website due to my inability to get a response from Spanish Now's president/owner regarding my request for a refund. I visited the Spanish Now office in [redacted] on Saturday, July 19, after I had posted a complaint of the Revdex.com website. Stephanie, an assistant to Enrique S[redacted] informed me that she could not handle my refund. It was up to Enrique S[redacted]. She could not give me a time when he would be present in the [redacted] office on the next business day, Monday July 21. I told her she should tell Mr. S[redacted] to look at the Revdex.com website. My complaint was visible on the Revdex.com website. Only after I posted my complaint on the Revdex.com website did he refund my money. I did not accept the extra cash for the inconvenience that I experienced. The reason is it was offered just after I posted a review on [redacted] about my experience. It seemed to me at the time that the company was trying to buy off my negative review.

Review: I found Spanish Now to be a very unprofessional organization that did not live up to its terms of our agreement. I signed up for 8 Spanish Now beginner classes that were supposed to be conducted on Tuesday evenings (2 hour sessions) from 27 August – 15 October, 2013. The first class session was conducted at a bug infested park bench behind the instructor’s residence. The instructional session was repeatedly interrupted by a student calling the instructor, Spanish Now calling the instructor and finally Spanish Now calling on my phone to speak to the instructor. My second session was rescheduled from a Tuesday night to a Wednesday night. I signed up for the Tuesday night classes because that is the night I am available, when I advised Spanish Now that I wasn't available for the Wednesday night session they did not make an attempt to accommodate me on the normally scheduled Tuesday night. For the last 5 classes I was advised that the instructor was no longer available, requiring that a new instructor be assigned and the location changed. I advised Spanish Now that this was not acceptable and requested a refund of tuition. I have yet to receive a refund.Desired Settlement: Refund for the rescheduled classess

Dear Revdex.com,

We thank you for your letter letting us know about the request for a refund of $143.

We want to let you know that we sent her today a check for that amount. We are attaching a copy of the check to this letter.

We were in contact with the student in order to find a solution to her concerns. The last attempt to reach her was a call from Jessica, that wasn't answered. Instead, the student issued a complaint to Revdex.com.

We are very sad about her decision. If she had taken our call, or if she would have called us, we would have solved the problem at once.

We understand that she is very cautious. After we received her complaint through Revdex.com, we called her. The first time there was no response. The second, our assistant explained to her that we apologized for any inconveniences and will issue the requested check. She didn't say a word, except for "thank you". We understand why she might have acted this way. Not all businesses are honest.

This is the first time in more than a decade, since we were founded, that we receive a complaint through Revdex.com.

We are honest and never had an issue like this ever.

We wish the student the best, and apologize sincerely for any inconveniences she had.

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I disagree with their characterization of our communication; I do not have any record of receiving a call from Spanish Now prior to my complaint. Nor do I feel I was given an opportunity to respond when Spanish Now called and acknowledged the complaint. However, I am pleased that this was handle so quickly and that we can all move on.

Regards,
