I was truly disappointed with the work of this company at our house. They came to finish a messy and uncompleted job of irrigation and landscaping by another company. They had several simple tasks: (1) cover exposed pipes with dirt, (2) level the ground around the working areas, (3) cover the ground with the same kinds of decorative stones that had already been used in the garden, (4) make sure the sprinkle heads were all working, and (5) place back the step stones and flower pots which had previously been removed to install the upgraded irrigation system.
The owner [redacted] left the job in the hands of [redacted], who worked for a few hours and left mid-afternoon without asking us if the work was satisfactory. I simply saw him driving away and he announced he was done. I had already noticed that two pots hadn't been placed back properly and requested that he take care of that, which he did and then left. Since it was a very hot day I didn't check any further, naively assuming that because [redacted] said the job was done, it was actually done.
The next day I checked the work that they did and was shocked with the results. [redacted] didn't cover the channels where the new pipes were placed with dirt, but with decorative stones instead. He left the dirt where it was, and never evened the ground; he just covered everything with the new decorative stones. Furthermore, the decorative stones were a different size and color than existing stones in other parts in the garden. Also, since he didn't even the ground, the garden is raised for a few inches and now if I wash the patio, all the dirt from the garden comes down to the pool which is close to the garden. [redacted] didn't even replace the step stones, which remained stacked and easy to see. There were other examples of neglect as well, but the worst thing is that my husband and I kept finding sprinkle heads either buried under the stones or simply turned off. We had naively trusted that [redacted]'s company would, as they said, check all the sprinkle heads, but it was only when various of our expensive plants began to wilt and die that we discovered the neglected heads.
My husband then called [redacted] to complain. But [redacted] started shouting at him and claimed that he was lying and that it was our fault for not walking through the garden with [redacted] to check on everything. Our view, however, is that it's [redacted]'s fault for simply telling us that he was done and leaving. Besides, he must have known that he hadn't checked all the sprinkle heads, because DOZENS of them were buried or closed. In fact, at least 20 plants may have been permanently damaged by this carelessness, costing us thousands of dollars. Had [redacted] actually looked at those plants, he would have discovered this. It shouldn't be our job to discover neglect on such a massive scale; that neglect should never have occurred in the first place!
[redacted]'s telephone tirade against my husband was so offensive and aggressive that we eventually hung up on him.
So I'm writing this report just to warn people about this company. What I learned now is that you have to watch them all the time, so they do all the steps of their work properly. Then don't let them leave your house, or pay them until you checked every single item of their work. Don't trust them at all about anything, and monitor them all the time.
