I have the firm Classic 3 mattress. And it feels odd. I can feel the springs beneath the surface of this mattress. Not sure why Western MA Elder Care would have bought something like this for me, who is elderly, has back issues, and who is living on a pension. I do not recommend this mattress at all. It is just cheaply made and the feel reflects this. Next time, I will save my pennies for six months and go to B.J. wholesale club and by a sealy for four hundred.

Review: Purchased a gold bond mattress on 9/21/2011 for $528.94 along with new box springs. Mattress came with a 5 year warranty. It is now 5/23/2014 and the mattress no longer has support which is causing me lower back pain and pain to my sciatic nerve. We contacted a representative from the company and it took 2 months before they sent the rep to evaluate it. Rep stated that it needed additional slats for support which we supplied. After another month and a half with the additional support the problem still occurs. We contacted the rep again 2 weeks ago and have not heard from the rep or the company. We would either like the mattress replaced or pro rated for reimbursement.Desired Settlement: We would like to have the mattress replaced but if this is impossible, then to have it pro-rated for reimbursement.

Review: I purchased two Gold Bond Aristocrat Firm mattresses (twin size) in April 2013. The mattresses were delivered & setup by the store. One of the mattresses has been great. The other one has developed sagging problems. I spoke with the store and they said Gold Bond required a 2 or more sag for a warranty claim. The sag is currently 1 to 1 inches. The sag is off center, creating a high side and low side to the mattress very uncomfortable and causing me back soreness. Tag info:ir[redacted] contacted Gold Bond via email on 10/21/2013. I included photos documenting the problems. I received a reply from Skip Naboicheck on the same day. He wrote Thank you for contacting us and your purchase of our products. Looking at the pictures, does this metal frame have a center support leg? Or is the metal frame bent? Have you turned the mattress? Rotation of mattress did not help & check of frame rail found only a 1/16th of inch bend.I replied on 10/22/13 that the frame rail did not have a center leg. He replied The center leg would help this product from sagging as the metal frame only has a 1/2" of support on the sides. It should be noted that the box spring supplied with the mattress by Gold Bond has an internal metal frame with cross bars. This should be more than sufficient to support my 130 lbs weight without a center leg. I discovered that box spring has a uniform inch dip across the top (defect?). I raised this issue and my other findings in an email on 11/6/2013. I included photos. I received no response. I forwarded the email to them on 12/3/2013 and noted I planned on filing a complaint. I receive a quick response from Bob Naboicheck. He requested a telephone conversation. I replied that I preferred to correspond in writing (to document the situation). He replied insisting upon a telephone only. I replied that only response I need from them was a YES or NO answer Would they replace the defective set or no. I received no response.Desired Settlement: Replacement of defective mattress and boxspring set

I asked in an email reply to please call me. Mr. [redacted] has not called me. I know this can be resolved if he calls me. I would like to evolve this. We are a 115 year old family business and always take care of the few complaints we get.

I am rejecting this response because: I would prefer to have written documentation of this complaint. Gold Bond continues to insist upon a phone conversation only discussion approach (thus avoiding documentation). I have already asked Gold Bond to answer a simply YES / NO question - Will their company, based upon the already supplied documentation (photographs and written description) replace the mattress and boxspring set? Gold Bond has not respond to this question. Their insistence on an telephone conservation which is essentially undocumentable and therefore "off the record" per se, and their unwillingness to answer my yes/no question is unsettling. I feel I am justified in insisting upon a written correspondence.

Review: On May 16 2013 I purchased a brand new Gold Bond [redacted] Mattress and Box spring set (king size) from my local furniture store for 1235.00 dollars plus tax. I was told it had a 15 year warranty and that it was the best mattress they sold. 3 days later is was delivered and set up in my home by the store. At first the mattress was great. About 2 months went by and I started having issues with it warping I call the store and they told me to call the company. So I called gold bond and they said it was normal because it was new. Around January of this year is when I noticed that the bottom and top are moving opposite of each other and it is getting harder and harder to sleep on. I have contacted this company many times and sent many pictures. On the July 15th [redacted] (a local rep from Gold bond) came to my home to inspect the mattress and take yet MORE pictures of the mattress. On a side note I or no one in my home has ever sat on the edge of this bed or BENT it period.

On July 20th [redacted] e-mailed me to tell my that it was not covered because it was bent.? OK why did I spend over 1200.00 dollars on a bed if it is not worth it. I am VERY disappointed in this company who prides itself on being around for over 100 years and I would expect them to do the right thing in this situation.Desired Settlement: REPLACE MATTRESS

Business

Response:

unfortunately this mattress was bent. probably on delivery. we make our mattresses with edge to edge steel and a heavy border rod the thickness of a thin pencil going around the mattress. we then put formed wire edge supports to firm the edge. we put 9 around the mattress. if the mattress is bent it causes just what is happening to the mattress. this is abuse and is not covered by our warranty . we no longer sell the retail store where this mattress was bought from. they had other issues with damaging the mattress on delivery. the minute I saw the picture I knew what had happened. we then had our salesman randy cook go to the house which we normally do not do.. he confirmed the damage.I feel sorry for this gentleman but it is clear abuse and voids the mattress warranty.
