Review: In January 2005 Gold Coast Design performed Tex-Cote coating on the exterior of my home. At that time I received documents that stated the coating had a lifetime warranty and that there was a 10 year labor warranty. In 2013 I noticed that much of the exterior trim and some portions of the stucco coating was cracking and peeling off. This left many areas exposed to the rain/sun. I contacted Gold Coast Design on June 20th and spoke to [redacted]. She said she would forward my concerns to the supervisor. About a week later I received a call from the supervisor and they scheduled a service call to evaluate the problem. The service person contacted me and arranged to come on July 23rd at around 8AM. When he hadn't shown up by 10AM I called and he stated that "the customer called in to cancel the appointment". I didn't cancel any appointment and he did finally arrive. After inspecting the damaged areas he said that it looked like the primer wasn't applied correctly and that he would talk to his supervisor and see when they could to my work. After a week I hadn't received any calls from Gold Coast. I called them and was told that [redacted] (the supervisor) was on vacation and they would have a meeting on his return to discuss my warranty issues. I called later the following week and was told that [redacted] was in a meeting and he would contact me soon. Later that same week I called and was told that the supervisor wasn't available and that they would tell him I called. The person on the phone ([redacted]) also said she would call me back to let me know what was going on. This week I have called 3 times. On Monday I was told that [redacted] was in a meeting and would call me when the meeting ended. On Tuesday I was told that the supervisor wasn't available, but [redacted] would pass the information to me and call me back to let me know. None of that happened! I tried calling again Tuesday around 3:30PM and reached voicemail. I left a message asking them to contact me to discuss the repairs. Additionally I sent them an email that voiced my dissatisfaction with their services and asked them to contact me immediately. On Wednesday morning I called again. I talked to [redacted] and she stated that they received my voicemail and email and that they were forwarded to the supervisors. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told "[redacted] is on vacation and won't be back for two weeks. [redacted] also said she would check to see what is going on and call me back. That hasn't happened.Desired Settlement: I want/need to have the repairs on my house completed. This needs to be done soon to prevent further damage from the elements. If further damage occurs, it could mean that I would need to replace much of the wood fascia/trim on the exterior of my home. If so, I would expect Gold Coast Design to pay for that replacement as their faulty work would have caused the problem. If they don't want to perform the work then they need to provide the materials (Tex-Cote) and pay for another contractor to do the needed repairs.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

This claim has been resolved. I was contacted by Gold Coast Design on 8/14/2013 and they arranged for two employees to begin the warranty repairs on 8/15/2013. The repairs were completed on 8/16/2013 and they were done to my satisfaction.

I thank the Revdex.com of San Diego for their expedient action on this complaint and I believe that those actions were instrumental in getting the work done quickly and correctly. Gold Coast Design finally stepped up to the plate and did what was necessary.

Thank you,

Review: Gold Coast paint the exterior wood trim on our house in July 2003. There is a ten year warranty on the materials and on the labor (expires 7/8/13). The paint is chipped and peeling in a number of places and has been so for about 5 years. We regularly received cold calls from them for new work. We told them of our issues and were reassured that their maintenance dept would contact us, they never did. Finally, this year after repeated calls, they returned our call and sent a [redacted] on 5/8/13. He inspected the paint job; we also wanted a quote for wood repair from termite damage plus 5 vinyl windows and replacement of French doors. We never heard back from him. After 3 weeks of unanswered calls to [redacted], we called GC again. They sent [redacted] on 6/5/13. He repeated the inspection process, this time with a painter. Once again, we never heard from him again. We've left numerous phone messages for him, none returned. It certainly appears to us that the company does not want to deal with the warranty issue, even though there is more new work involved. I believe they are stalling until after the warranty expires.Desired Settlement: Since GC has been unresponsive, we've had to contract to another company to get our house repainted. Of the several other companies that we've had come for estimates, they all said that the original GC paint job failed because of inadequate wood preparation before paint application. The original price paid GC was $6038. We feel that a 50% refund of the original cost is fair. The cost for them to honor the warranty would probably exceed that cost, plus the paint started failing 5 years in.
