Review: On January 6, 2016, I took a [redacted] to Gold River Auto Repair to be smogged, and it was found that several repairs were required on the car. The alternator had to be replaced, a power steering hose had to be replaced, and the drive belts had to be replaced. Mr. [redacted] wrote an estimate for $700 for everything. He did however fail to give me a copy of the estimate as is required by law. Later, when I came to pick the car up, I was told by the mechanic that the bill was $824.75 less a 5% discount for a cash payment. I told him that I had been told that the cost would be $700. He replied that the cost had increased because I had called the shop and requested a smog service, which was not true. I only called to tell them not to replace the radiator, because I would do that myself later. The shop refused to lower the price, and I had to pay the $824.75 less a 5% discount for cash payment. When I went to open the driver's door, I found that the outer door handle had been broken off by someone who had handled the car. I was too angry at the time to argue any further with the shop employees. I later found the broken piece of the door handle on the front passenger seat. I have also recently discovered that the power steering reservoir cap was not replaced on the reservoir. I wrote a letter of complaint to Mr. [redacted], but received no reply. I still have the original copy of that letter. I am asking that Gold River Auto Repair should be required to pay for the replacement of the outer driver's door handle, and a replacement power steering reservoir cap, and that I should receive a refund for the overcharge on the work. Gold River Auto Repair charges some of the highest prices in the Sacramento area, and for that, I expect competent and honest work, which I did not receive. I have been a customer of Gold River Auto Repair for several years, so I did not expect to be cheated on an estimate. I want to have the door handle fixed somewhere else, because I do not trust Gold River auto to touch my car.Desired Settlement: I want the appropriate refund, and I want to have the door handle repaired somewhere else and be reimbursed by Gold River Auto Repair, because I do not trust Gold River Auto Repair to work on my car, and I am afraid that they might sabotage the car. I also want Gold River Auto to pay the cost of a new power steering cap. I should have paid $700 less a 5% discount for paying by cash.
