system we installed. Although this electrical panel issue had nothing to do with our installation, we still paid to have the client stay in a local hotel while dealing with their electrical problem due to having no heat in their home. Ultimately, the breaker panel was replaced and the heat pump system has operated normally. The client then contacted us on Feb. 24th, due to a high electric bill during the previous month. I spoke with the client, and explained that heat pumps do not fare well in months where the average temperature is below 20 degrees and that the abnormally high use of the electric heat strips were to account for the high electric bills.  This is true with all heat pump systems that operate with an electric back up heating source. I also believe the clients had the windows in their home replaced in February of this year, due to being very inefficient and drafty. This undoubtedly played a factor in the ability to heat their home, as well as the cost to do so.We have since spoken with the client and still believe the system to be operating properly at this time. We did however fail to obtain the correct permits needed for their project due to an internal misunderstanding. It is for this reason that we have agreed to provide the client with the resolution they are requesting. At this time we are awaiting the estimate from the contractor of their choosing. We would also like to meet with the inspector for the town of Middletown to make certain that all parties are on the same page moving forward as to which issues need to be addressed according to the township.  We apologize for the inconvenience to the client, but feel that we have been more than responsive and accommodating to them during this entire process.

We had a gas furnace (from 1988) that was no longer functioning properly. We saw a Gold Star advertisement in a local paper and decided to give them a call to get an estimate for a new one and for a new A/C. Co-owner [redacted] came to our house on a Monday and explained all of the details of the work to be done and the cost. We were hesitant to go with a company that has only been around a few short years but we liked the fact that they are a family owned, local business. Their price was also very reasonable - we got a 95% efficient TRANE furnace and 14 SEER air conditioner for less money than other places quoted for inferior equipment. We called him back on Tuesday to say that we were interested in setting up the installation and they were able to come out on Thursday to complete the job. The three men that came to the house were very respectful, professional and knowledgeable. They found issues in the previous installation setup and took time to correct it. They even went above and beyond and repaired something with our hot water heater flue, at no additional cost. They informed us of electrical concerns they noticed and suggested we call in an electrician to get it looked at by an expert. They covered the carpet and did their best to keep the home clean. We are very satisfied with the work performed and certainly plan to continue utilizing this company for other needs, including the annual maintenance contract (first year was included in the installation price).

I called gold star to come out and give me an estimate on replacing my heater and air conditioning. Chain came out within 45 minutes. The next day they installed my heater and air conditioning unit the best experience I ever had. There on time very clean and polite. I would recommend them to anybody. I have somebody else give me an estimate and it was $2,000 more than Goldstar for the same equipment.

Review: Our HVAC system was installed in May 2014. We contacted Gold Star numerous times with heating issues. Our home would not heat over 60 degrees. They sent workers out several times. Our breaker box melted and we paid to have it replaced. The company stated our issue was our breaker box. Since the breaker box has been replaced, our electric bills have been unusually high and we have not been able to heat our home over 68 degrees. We have contacted the owner numerous times. He stated that because it was cold outside, our heat pump would struggle to keep up. After receiving another large electric bill with our heat set at 67, we decided to have another HVAC company give us a second opinion. Upon review of our system, many code violations were noted. Our home never had a permit pulled for the installation and it was never inspected.Desired Settlement: We would like all of the work that is not up to code to be brought up to code. We would also like a permit pulled and inspection of the completed project. We request that the company of our choice fixes the issues and is paid by Gold Star Services.

I could not be happier with the service Gold Star has provided me, especially for the price. I feel I got better service than I would have from other local contractors that wanted almost two times what I paid. They are always on time and quick to respond. I cannot say enough good things about them...highly recommend.
